Nick Blankenburg Still Troubled By An Upper-Body Injury
Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Nick Blankenburg (upper-body) is still day-to-day and could miss a third consecutive game Tuesday versus the Capitals. The 24-year-old rookie hasn't been able to catch a break with injuries all season long and has appeared in only 15 games. He's done pretty well when healthy, recording three goals and seven points with 24 shots, 25 hits and 25 blocks. If he can't make it back Tuesday, Blankenburg will have a whole week and a half to recover, with the Blue Jackets not scheduled to play again until Feb. 10.

He's been able to get two goals and one assist in seven games this season with 13 blocks and 12 hits. The Blue Jackets also lost Zach Werenski (shoulder) and Erik Gudbranson (upper body) Thursday night, so talk about bad luck. Vladislav Gavrikov and Andrew Peeke are now set to form the team's new top defensive duo.
