Oilers Acquire Jake Walman

The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenseman Jake Walman from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Carl Berglund and a 2026 first round selection. The first round pick is top 12 protected. In addition, if the Oilers were to trade their 2027 first round, the Sharks would then receive the 2026 pick. The 29-year-old has enjoyed a career season in San Jose. Through 50 games, the former third round selection has found the back of the net six times and added 26 helpers. He has tallied seven of his helpers on the power-play. Walman has also logged 48 hits with an impressive 111 blocked shots and 125 shots on goal. Over his past four contests, Walman has blocked 19 shots and added two helpers. Fantasy managers should expect Walman to have a role on the left side of the Edmonton defense. He could also find time on the second power-play unit, given his experience on the power-play in San Jose. Timothy Liljegren will likely replace Walman on the top unit of the San Jose power-play.

Jake Walman To Remain Out For Fifth Consecutive Game

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (lower body) will miss a fifth consecutive game on Thursday against Tampa Bay. He's struggling to shake off a lower-body injury. Walman's absence has left the Sharks without their top-scoring defenseman. The 28-year-old has notched 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 31 outings during an impressive campaign. Shakir Mukhamadullin has seen action with Walman out, while Timothy Liljegren has secured a spot on the first power-play unit. However, Liljegren has still struggled to make an impact, going scoreless in four games with a minus-seven rating.

Jake Walman Out On Tuesday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (lower body) will miss a fourth consecutive game on Tuesday versus Philadelphia. Walman, who has notched an impressive 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 31 outings, has resumed skating but isn't ready to rejoin the lineup. Henry Thrun has worked on the first defensive pairing during Walman's absence, with the power-play usage of Timothy Liljegren and Shakir Mukhamadullin increasing. Philadelphia has a lowly 77.9 penalty-killing percentage, making this a favorable matchup for San Jose's power play.

Jake Walman Unavailable Monday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (lower body) will not play on Monday against Vancouver. The 28-year-old is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Walman has quietly been among the most productive fantasy defensemen in 2024-25, offering value across the board. Through 31 appearances, he has produced a career-high 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) with 80 shots, 30 hits, and 47 blocks. Henry Thrun is set to move to Walman's position on the first defensive pairing, while his absence may give Timothy Liljegren a job on the first power-play unit. Shakir Mukhamadullin will fill the open spot in the lineup.

Jake Walman Remains Out On Sunday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (upper body) will miss a third consecutive game on Sunday versus New Jersey. He was initially regarded as a game-time decision for the matchup. It's been a productive campaign for Walman, who has recorded nine points, 35 shots, 22 blocks, and 16 hits in 12 appearances. Rookie Jack Thompson will continue to fill in for Walman. Thompson recently scored his first career goal and has picked up four points in eight games. However, three of his points have come on the power play, and San Jose faces a good penalty-killing team on Sunday, making it tough for Thompson to add to his account.

Jake Walman Will Not Play Thursday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (upper body) will not play on Thursday due to an upper-body injury. Walman has had a weird couple of weeks, first contributing seven points in a three-game stretch last week, then getting healthy scratched for disciplinary reasons on Tuesday, and now missing Thursday's game with a new injury. It's unfortunate timing, as Walman has been on a tear recently, but hopefully the 28-year-old's injury isn't severe. Jack Thompson will once again step in for Walman and should get a little powerplay time, but expect Timothy Liljegren to see the most time with the man advantage.

Jake Walman Sits As Healthy Scratch On Tuesday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman will be a healthy scratch against Columbus on Tuesday. Walman recently erupted for seven points in three games, and he's been by far the most productive blue-liner on the team, but Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky has decided to sit him for Tuesday's game. Walman's work includes one goal and eight assists in 13 games this season. Jack Thompson, who has tallied three assists in six appearances, will re-enter the lineup on Tuesday. He will skate on the second defensive pairing and with the second power-play unit.

Jake Walman Sits Out One More Game Sunday

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman is expected to miss Sunday's meeting with Toronto due to an illness. He'll be absent for a second consecutive game after Walman also sat out Saturday's contest against Los Angeles. Justin Holl came into the lineup as Walman's replacement on Saturday. Holl played well in 13:22 of action, helping the Red Wings to a 5-3 victory, but Walman is a significant miss from the lineup. He has totaled 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 38 appearances while also being a shot-blocking machine. The 27-year-old sits just outside the top six in shots blocks, with 111 blocks registered.

Jake Walman Good To Go Thursday

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman (illness) is ready to face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. His status was initially doubtful after Walman missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness. The 27-year-old has had a fine campaign with the Red Wings, registering 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 37 games with 63 shots on goal and 104 blocks. Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin and Vancouver's Quinn Hughes are the only blue-liners in the league this season with more goals scored than Walman, while he's ranked eighth in blocked shots.

Jake Walman To Return On Wednesday

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman (illness) will be back from a two-game spell on the sidelines Wednesday against the Rangers. The 27-year-old was forced to miss his first two contests of the year due to an illness, but he's back in game shape, and the Red Wings will be delighted to have Walman available for the big matchup. Walman has totaled eight points (four goals, four assists) in 18 games while blocking 50 shots and producing 34 efforts on net with a plus-seven rating. Justin Holl (undisclosed) will likely drop out of the lineup on Wednesday.

Jake Walman Good To Go On Wednesday

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman (undisclosed) will play on Wednesday versus New Jersey. His status for the game was in doubt after Walman exited the last contest with an undisclosed ailment, but he's had some extra time to recover since Friday and is good to go against the Devils. Walman is a versatile defenseman who has registered seven points (four goals, three assists) in 17 games this season with 31 shots on goal while posting 45 blocks with a plus-five rating. He'll assume his regular duties on the first defensive pairing next to Moritz Seider.

Jake Walman Hurt In Global Series Outing

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman suffered an undisclosed injury in Friday's Global Series game against Toronto. He was able to log 12:29 of ice time in the contest before being forced to exit. Walman has been a fantastic two-way force for Detroit all year on the first defensive pairing, posting seven points (four goals, three assists) in 17 games with 45 blocks. He will get some good recovery time, as the Red Wings will be off until Wednesday, but the injury might still keep him out of action for the first time this season.
