Jesperi Kotkaniemi Scores Twice In Friday's Win

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi provided two goals as the team took full control of the second-round series against New Jersey with a 6-1 victory Friday. Following a goalless opening period, Kotkaniemi struck a power-play goal early in the second frame and added an even-strength tally just 2:23 later. Kotkaniemi led all skaters with six shots on goal and had one block and two hits with a plus-two rating in 14:26 of action. The Finnish forward has now scored in back-to-back games and all of his four points this postseason have come in the last four games.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Has Three Points In Tuesday's Win

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi picked up three points as the team's offense sparked back to life in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over Winnipeg. The Hurricanes had gone scoreless in each of their last two games and boasted just one goal across three outings before things started to click again Tuesday. Kotkaniemi scored twice and had one assist. These are his first points in five games after Kotkaniemi put on an incredible show with a five-point effort against Tampa Bay on March 5. He has 33 points across 66 games for the season and will hope to find more consistency over the final few weeks of the season as a member of the second line.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Leads Team With Five Points

Carolina Hurricanes center Jesperi Kotkaniemi finished with one goal and four assists in Sunday's 6-0 victory against the Lightning. Kotkaniemi's line carried the offensive production for the Hurricanes, as he contributed to all three of forward Teuvo Teravainen's goals in the contest. Kotkaniemi's great offensive display brings his season totals to 12 goals and 18 assists through 61 games, although he remains a streaming option in deeper fantasy formats while playing on the second line.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Picks Up Two Assists Against Buffalo

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi had his third multi-point game of the season Wednesday versus Buffalo, collecting two assists in a big 5-1 win. He picked up his first helper just 2:35 into the game on the power play with a nice cross-ice pass to Sebastian Aho, who scored in a career-high sixth consecutive game, and Kotkaniemi's second assist came when Stefan Noesen made it 2-0 in the middle of the first frame. He was quiet in front of the net himself, finishing with no shots on goal, and tallied a plus-one rating for the game in 13:52 of ice time. Kotkaniemi went through some dark times in January, but he finished the month well and has picked up some momentum with four points in four games. He headed into the All-Star break with seven goals and 20 points to his name in 51 games.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Set To Miss Another Game On Thursday

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi (lower body) won't be able to make it back into the lineup for Thursday's clash against Winnipeg. Kotkaniemi's ailment is related to a lower-body injury that took him out of the lineup for eight games late last month. He managed to skate in two games before dropping out of the lineup again on Monday against Arizona. Kotkaniemi has been limited to 65 games this season and he's gone for 11 goals and 26 points. Derek Stepan took over as the fourth-line center on Monday and will probably fill the role again Thursday.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Returns To Action Thursday

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi (lower body) will be back in action on Thursday against Detroit. He's been out for eight games and will be returning in a fourth-line center role. Kotkaniemi has done quite well in limited minutes this season, recording 11 goals and 26 points in 63 outings. He will look to continue a three-game point streak. Carolina's fourth line is looking pretty exciting for Thursday, as it will also include Martin Necas. Kotkaniemi and Necas are set to feature on the second power-play unit as well.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Ruled Out For 2-3 Weeks

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been ruled out for two to three weeks with a lower-body injury. He was hurt in Monday's 6-1 win over Washington and has already missed one game. It looks like he will sit out a further eight games at least. Kotkaniemi hasn't filled a big role for the Hurricanes, but he's been pretty productive in limited minutes with 11 goals and 26 points in 63 games. Steven Lorentz replaced him in the lineup on Tuesday against Tampa and Jordan Martinook will take over Thursday night.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Suffers Leg Injury In Monday's Win

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi had an unfortunate ending to his night in Monday's 6-1 win over Washington as he suffered a lower-body injury in the dying seconds of the game. He was hit by Washington's Lars Eller and appeared to have hurt his left leg. It's likely Kotkaniemi will miss an extended period of time. "I don't know the extent, but it's not good," said Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour after the game. "He's injured. I don't know how bad, but he's definitely going to be out." Kotkaniemi, who signed an eight-year extension with Carolina on Mar. 21, picked up his 26th point of the campaign in the big win via an assist. He's been centering the fourth line, but Kotkaniemi's absence will also open up a spot on the second power-play unit.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Scores Only Goal On Tuesday

Carolina Hurricanes center Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored for the third straight game on Tuesday night versus the Dallas Stars. The Finnish forward has a knack for hitting the back of the net. His third period goal spoiled the shutout bid for Braden Holtby and now gives Kotkaniemi six goals in 21 games. The center mostly sees middle-six ice time (14:17 on Tuesday) but that included more than 90 seconds of power-play time. His shooting percentage is now 24%. How long will that continue? It may not be for long if his past numbers from Montreal are an indication.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Scores In A Second Consecutive Game

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi got himself a goal in a second consecutive game on Sunday, putting his team on the board in a 4-2 loss to Washington. He recorded three shots with one hit and a plus-one rating in just 9:22 of ice time. Kotkaniemi logged nearly 15 minutes in Friday's 6-3 win over Philadelphia, but his minutes, in general, have dropped lately after he was dumped on the fourth line. The 21-year-old has scored five goals in total in 20 games this season with 23 shots, compiling seven points.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi Tallies Two Assists In Losing Effort

Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi picked up two assists in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Winnipeg, producing his fourth multi-point performance on the season. Phillip Danault and Paul Byron notched the goals. This was Kotkaniemi's second game as the first-line right wing. He has joined forces with Danault and Tomas Tatar. The trio combined for Montreal's first goal Thursday night. The 20-year-old has been stuck on the third line for most of the season, so this a major move for him, and plenty of fantasy managers are already capitalizing on it. Kotkaniemi has a solid four-game week coming up, which should nicely boost his points tally. He's on 19 points for the year in 37 games with 65 shots and 53 hits.
