Matthew Tkachuk Resumes Skating

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (groin) has resumed skating but is still without a set timeline for his return. Tkachuk provided the update on the "Wingmen" podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Brady Tkachuk (thumb) of the Ottawa Senators. Before the start of the season, Panthers general manager Bill Zito announced that Tkachuk will be out until "December-ish." Despite being without Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov (knee), the Panthers have remained competitive, averaging over 3 goals per game (3.09). Veteran Brad Marchand is playing out of his skin and is currently on track to record his second career 90-point season.

Matthew Tkachuk Expected to Be Out Until December

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (groin) will be sidelined until December, general manager Bill Zito said Wednesday. The star forward battled several injuries last season and had surgery in August. Initial reports suggested that Tkachuk will be out until 2026. Despite battling injuries, Tkachuk was still a point-per-game player last season, notching 57 points (22 goals, 35 assists) in 55 regular-season appearances and contributing 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in as many games during his team's run to a second consecutive Stanley Cup win. In Tkachuk's absence, Brad Marchand might begin the season as part of the top-six group.

Matthew Tkachuk Recovering From Surgery

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (groin) has reportedly undergone surgery. David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that Tkachuk had the procedure "a few weeks ago" and will miss the start of the season. Tkachuk isn't expected to begin the 2025-26 campaign before January. Only recently, Tkachuk mentioned that he was "50-50" on whether he would have surgery to repair a torn hip abductor and a hernia. With Tkachuk sidelined, Brad Marchand could become a regular in the top six for Florida, although he was extremely effective alongside Eetu Luostarinen and Anton Lundell on the third line in last season's playoffs.

Matthew Tkachuk Could Miss 2-3 Months with Surgery

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (groin) revealed he would face a multi-month absence if he opts for surgery. The star forward played the Stanley Cup playoffs with a torn adductor muscle and a sports hernia injury. "If I do get the surgery, it'll definitely be the first two or maybe three months if that's the case. But it's still undecided at this point," Tkachuk told ESPN's Greg Wyshynski. It was recently reported that Tkachuk is expected to miss the start of the season and may not be back until the Olympics. Despite his health issues, Tkachuk had 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in as many games in the postseason. He was also very productive during the 2024-25 regular season but was limited to 52 games after getting injured while playing for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.

Matthew Tkachuk Expected to Miss Start of Season

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk is expected to miss the start of the new NHL season. "I think we're going to find out at some point here that Tkachuk will miss the start of the season," NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said on the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast. "I think he'll be back in time for the Olympics... But I think he's going to miss the start of the year and a chunk of time after that." Tkachuk dealt with various health issues last term and apparently isn't at 100 percent for the start of 2025-26 either. Based on the available information, it's safe to assume Florida will be without Tkachuk for several months, which would boost Brad Marchand's fantasy stock.

Matthew Tkachuk Reveals Multiple Injuries

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk revealed on Tuesday that he played through multiple injuries to help the team try to lift the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive year. "I tore my adductor off the bone and had some hernia thing all on the same side," Tkachuk said when asked about his injuries. "I wanted to throw in the towel a bunch of times." Despite being badly banged up, Tkachuk enjoyed another prolific postseason run with the Panthers, sharing the team lead in scoring with 23 points. He recorded eight goals and 13 assists. This gives Tkachuk a staggering 69 points (25 goals, 44 assists) over the last three years in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Matthew Tkachuk Notches Three Points in Losing Effort

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk tallied two goals and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He scored both goals on the power play in the first period, leading the charge as Florida jumped to a 3-0 lead. Tkachuk, who had managed only two points over the first three matchups against Edmonton, capped off his three-point night with an assist in the third period when Sam Reinhart tied the game with only 20 seconds remaining in regulation. Florida has had nine players score 15 or more points this postseason, with Tkachuk leading the group with 21 points, along with Sam Bennett. He has recorded seven goals and a team-high 14 assists.

Matthew Tkachuk Collects Two Points in Wednesday's Win

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk finished Wednesday's series-clinching 5-3 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes with a goal and an assist. Tkachuk's work allowed the Panthers to spark a comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the second period. He scored a power-play goal by redirecting a shot from Aaron Ekblad and helped Evan Rodrigues score his first postseason goal just 30 seconds later. At times, Tkachuk has been quiet during the postseason, but he will take significant momentum into the Stanley Cup Finals, having logged three multi-point efforts over his past four outings. Overall, he has scored 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 17 games, tying him for the second most on the team in the playoffs.

Matthew Tkachuk Ends 10-Game Goal Drought in Thursday's Win

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk scored the team's second goal in Thursday's 5-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, ending a 10-game goal drought. The star forward began the postseason by netting three goals in three games but hadn't scored since then. Despite his rotten luck in front of the goal, Tkachuk has remained among Florida's top scorers, sitting on 12 points (four goals, eight assists) through 14 games. Seven of his points have come on the power play, and Tkachuk looks set up for further success in the Eastern Conference Finals, as Carolina's penalty kill has suddenly faltered, allowing four power-play goals over the first two games of the series.

Matthew Tkachuk Sees Point Streak End Friday

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk was kept off the score sheet for the first time in four games on Friday night in a 2-0 defeat against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The star forward had registered assists in three consecutive contests but was quiet in Game 6 of the second-round series, finishing with three shots on goal, five hits, two penalty minutes, and a minus-one rating, while logging 20:45 of ice time. Tkachuk has gone eight games without a goal in the postseason but is close to averaging a point per game, sitting on three goals and six assists through 11 outings. Strangely, he has recorded more hits (20) than shots on goal (17) in the playoffs.

Playing for the Panthers for the first time since Feb. 8, Tkachuk bagged a couple of power-play goals and had an assist with the man advantage. He wrote his name in the history books alongside Nate Schmidt when the two scored within 14 seconds in the second period, marking the fastest two goals in a playoff game in franchise history. Tkachuk now boasts a whopping 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 45 games over the past two postseasons, the fourth-highest total in the league.

The Panthers will use Tkachuk on the second line next to Sam Bennett and Mackie Samoskevich, while he is also set to skate with the top power-play unit. During the regular season, Tkachuk played in only 52 contests, yet he finished as Florida's third-highest scorer with 57 points (22 goals, 35 assists). However, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said on Thursday that "everyone is available for Game 1," suggesting Tkachuk will likely be ready to return to action. Over 52 regular-season appearances, Tkachuk potted 22 goals and had 57 points. He finished with 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 24 games last year in the playoffs as the Panthers won their first Stanley Cup.

Matthew Tkachuk To Miss Remainder Of Regular Season

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (groin) will not return to action for the remainder of the 2024-25 regular season, the team announced on Monday. He has missed four games due to a groin injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off. "Matthew's going to be out for an extended period. We hope to have him back for the playoffs," Panthers general manager Bill Zito told reporters on Monday. Tkachuk ends the campaign with 57 points (22 goals, 35 assists) in 52 games. Mackie Samoskevich has joined the top six and the first power-play unit during Tkachuk's absence.

Matthew Tkachuk Not Playing On Thursday

Florida Panthers left wing Matthew Tkachuk (groin) will remain sidelined during Thursday's contest when the Panthers host the Oilers in a Stanley Cup rematch. Tkachuk has missed their previous two contests. Head coach Paul Maurice noted that the star winger is out "near-term." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Saturday evening when they host the Calgary Flames. Tkachuk sustained this injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off. Before the international break, Tkachuk was riding a six-game point streak. During this stretch, he tallied 13 points (seven goals) with 30 shots on goal and four power-play points. Through 52 total games, Tkachuk has found the back of the net 22 times. Fantasy managers should expect Carter Verhaeghe to continue to operate as the top left wing with Mackie Samoskevich slotting in on the second line.

Matthew Tkachuk Will Not Play On Tuesday

Florida Panthers left wing Matthew Tkachuk (groin) will not play on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators. The 27-year-old sustained this injury during the 4 Nations-Face Off and has yet to see NHL return after the international break. Tkachuk saw doctors earlier in the week and is waiting for further evaluation. Fantasy managers should expect the 27-year-old to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future. Given that he continues to seek medical evaluation suggests that he is not on the verge of a return. Before the injury, Tkachuk tallied 22 goals with 35 helpers across 52 contests. While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Carter Verhaeghe to see time as the top left wing, with Mackie Samoskevich slotting in on the second unit.

Matthew Tkachuk Will Not Play Against Kraken

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (lower body) will miss Saturday's matchup against the Seattle Kraken. The star winger sustained a lower-body injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off and will be sidelined for at least one game. Tkachuk's first opportunity to return will be on Tuesday against the Nashville Predators. With Tkachuk out of the lineup, Mackie Samoskevich will start Saturday's contest in the top six, skating alongside Sam Bennett and Evan Rodrigues. Samoskevich has played well at times, amassing 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 48 games during his rookie year. The presence of Bennett and Rodrigues, who have combined for 60 points, elevates Samoskevich's fantasy value.

Matthew Tkachuk Ruled Out Monday

Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (lower body) will not play in Team USA's 4 Nations Face-Off matchup against Sweden on Monday. Tkachuk, who opened the tournament with a big three-point effort against Finland, suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's clash against Canada. It looks like he is dealing with only a minor ailment, as Tkachuk's brother Brady has said that the Panthers forward will be "good to go" for Thursday's championship game. Chris Kreider of the New York Rangers will step into the lineup on Monday. Kreider has had a disappointing campaign with the Rangers but may have more luck offensively in new surroundings. He is set to start the game on the second line with Jack Eichel and Brady Tkachuk and is expected to join the first power-play unit.
