Ondrej Palat A Game-Time Call Thursday

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat missed the morning skate with an illness and will be a game-time decision for Thursday's matchup against Los Angeles. The 32-year-old has struggled to stay in the lineup all season and could be absent again. He recently returned from a lower-body injury. Palat has played well since returning to action, but he can't be happy about his overall contributions. Across 42 outings this season, the veteran winger has tallied only eight goals and 20 points. Chris Tierney filled in for Palat on the top line during the morning skate.

Ondrej Palat Set To Return Thursday Versus Hurricanes

New Jersey Devils forward Ondrej Palat (lower body) is expected to return to the lineup Thursday on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes. The veteran has missed the last 10 games with his injury after getting hurt in a 5-2 loss versus the Boston Bruins on Dec. 30. "It feels great, finally, to get out there and skate with the team," Palat said after Wednesday's practice. It's been a down season offensively for the former Lightning winger, as he has just five goals and 14 points through 35 games in his second season in New Jersey. It's the third time in four seasons he has missed notable time with an injury, as he appeared in just 49 games last season, posting 23 points in that time. He skated on a line with Tyler Toffoli and Dawson Mercer on Wednesday.

Ondrej Palat Not Expected To Make Quick Return

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat (lower body) isn't close to returning to action. He's been on the shelf for three games already and isn't out "short-term," according to Devils head coach Lindy Ruff. The injury is a further source of disappointment for Palat, who's struggled to make an impact in 2023-24. In 35 appearances, he's only picked up five goals and nine assists. His current scoring pace of 0.40 points per game is his worst in 11 seasons. With Jack Hughes (upper body) and Timo Meier (abdomen) also out, the Devils' top six currently looks very different compared to the usual setup. Erik Haula has started to feature heavily, while Nathan Bastian also saw time on the first line Saturday against Vancouver.

Ondrej Palat Expected To Miss Multiple Games

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat (lower body) was unavailable for Wednesday's clash against Washington and is expected to miss a few more games. A lower-body injury sustained in practice kept Palat out of action for the first time this season. The long-time Lightning winger has struggled for most parts in 2023-24, posting only five goals in 35 games and settling for 14 points. Dawson Mercer replaced him on the second line Wednesday and had a terrific outing with two goals.

Ondrej Palat Moves To Top Six In Devils Line Shakeup

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat will join the top-six group for Friday's contest against the Islanders. Devils head coach Lindy Ruff was fuming with his team's performance in Monday's clash with Florida and has decided to shake things up a bit. Dawson Mercer is getting dropped from the top six, while Timo Meier, who was benched in the third period on Monday's contest, gets a chance to redeem himself on his natural right-wing position on the first line. Palat started the campaign with an assist in the team's season opener but has yet to add to his tally. He now finds himself in a much better position to make an impact offensively, as Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt have been among New Jersey's top scorers for multiple years.

Ondrej Palat Delivers Two Assists In Game 7 Win

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat contributed two assists as the team beat the Rangers 4-0 in Monday's Game 7. The veteran winger posted a short-handed assist when Michael McLeod opened the scoring in the second period and Palat also helped Erik Haula to make the game safe late in the third. Palat had a quiet start to the series, but he managed to average a point per game for the final four contests. The former Lightning man has a huge amount of playoff experience and his presence is a great asset for New Jersey in the postseason.

Ondrej Palat Registers Three Points Against Toronto

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat had his first three-point game of the season Tuesday against Toronto, picking up a goal and two assists in a 4-3 loss. Both of helpers came on goals by Erik Haula and he notched a power-play marker himself in the third period. Palat has struggled to make a mark in New Jersey, but he has improved lately, starting off March with a run of five points in four games. In 31 outings across the whole campaign, the Czech winger has produced eight goals and 11 assists.

Ondrej Palat Back For Devils Thursday

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat (groin) is available again for the team Thursday against St. Louis. He has missed the past 32 games whilst recovering from groin surgery. Before getting knocked out of the lineup, Palat produced three points -- all via goals -- in his first six appearances as a Devil. Tomas Tatar has been filling in for him on the top line and will take a hit now, although he has been on a hot streak lately and Palat might not assume his normal role straight away.

Ondrej Palat Ruled Out For 8-10 Weeks

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat (groin) has finally received a potential timeline for his return, and unfortunately we won't be seeing him for a couple of months, with the Devils announcing that he will need eight to 10 weeks to recover from groin surgery. Palat hasn't played since Oct. 24, missing six games. He posted three goals in six games before getting hurt. Tomas Tatar has taken over Palat's spot on the first line, and he's gained some really good momentum ahead of Tuesday's battle with the Flames, heading into the clash with a four-game assist streak.

Ondrej Palat Has Groin Surgery

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat underwent successful groin surgery, the team announced Tuesday. The two-time Stanley Cup champion had already missed three games and it looks like he won't be available for a while. The Devils didn't yet announce a timeline for his return. Palat, who came over from Tampa as a free agent in the summer, netted three goals in six games before getting injured. Tomas Tatar has moved into his spot on the first line, notching two points in the three games Palat has missed. He's done a decent job so far, but Tatar's spot likely isn't set in stone and others should get a look on the line as well while Palat recovers.

Ondrej Palat Placed On Injured Reserve

New Jersey Devils left wing Ondrej Palat (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday. The move is retroactive to Oct. 24. Palat has missed the team's last two games with a lower-body injury and it's not looking good, with him set to meet doctors on Monday to decide how to proceed with the issue that's bothering him. Palat was a big signing for New Jersey during the offseason, and he's tied for the team lead with three goals early in the year. Nico Hischier has skated with Tomas Tatar and Fabian Zetterlund on the first line since Palat's injury.

Ondrej Palat Doesn't Play Tuesday

New Jersey Devils winger Ondrej Palat (lower body) did not play Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Palat is banged up with an undisclosed lower-body injury and should be considered day-to-day for now. The veteran winger was stapled to Nico Hischier while getting time on the Devils second unit, which should continue once he is ready to return. Palat has three goals, eight shots on goal and 12 hits to round out his peripherals. He is mostly a deep-league option at this point.

Ondrej Palat Keeps Lightning Alive

Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat scored a late game-winning goal in Friday's elimination game in the Stanley Cup Final. He tucked in his 11th goal of the postseason with 6:22 left in regulation. The Czech winger tallied a total of three shots in the game with two hits in 20:15 of ice time. Seven of Palat's goals in the 2022 postseason have come in the third period and he now sits on 12 career game-winning goals in the playoffs, which is the third-highest mark among active players. The former seventh-round pick continues to deliver in big moments for the Lightning and he will try to do it again in Game 6 on Sunday.

Ondrej Palat Stays Hot In Finals Opener

Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat maintained his hot scoring form in Game 1 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, scoring his ninth goal of the playoffs. He and Mikhail Sergachev combined for two goals inside 38 seconds in the second period to tie the game at three, but the defending champions ended up taking a 4-3 loss in overtime. Palat has scored in four of his last five appearances and has managed at least a point in nine of the last 10 games. He's riding shotgun on the top line to Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos and it's helped the former seventh-round pick to rack up 17 points in 18 games this postseason.

Ondrej Palat Makes History With Another Late Goal

Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat kept up his immense run of form in the Eastern Conference Finals with another goal on Thursday, becoming the first player in NHL history to score multiple game-winning goals inside the final two minutes of action in a single postseason. The Czech winger deflected in a Mikhail Sergachev shot 18:10 into the third period, putting the Lightning 2-1 up before Brandon Hagel iced the game with an empty-netter. Palat has scored in three straight games and in four of the five games in the series. He has managed 14 points in 16 games overall for the 2022 playoffs.

Ondrej Palat Moves To First Line Wednesday

Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat will be a first-liner in Wednesday's clash with Washington. He finished Monday's 6-2 loss to Toronto with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov and has now also practiced with the pair. It appears that Steven Stamkos will drop all the way down to the third line for Wednesday's contest. Palat is a winger with good all-around ability, but he hasn't been very impactful offensively for a pretty big stretch, notching just six points since the start of February. He has 37 points in total for the season in 64 games with 119 shots and 103 hits. Riding with Point and Kucherov puts Palat in a very good situation to get going again offensively.

Ondrej Palat Doubtful For Tuesday's Game

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ondrej Palat (undisclosed) is considered doubtful to play against the Kings on Tuesday night, according to head coach Jon Cooper. Tonight would mark Palat's third consecutive missed game since suffering the undisclosed injury one week ago. Palat has totaled 15 goals, 15 assists, a plus-seven rating and 30 points through 38 games, making the top six forward a quality option across all fantasy formats moving forward.

Ondrej Palat Dishes Two Assists In Defeat Thursday

Tampa Bay Lightning left-winger Ondrej Palat has enjoyed his time in the top-six and he was rewarded with more power-play time on Thursday. The result was two assists and more than five minutes on the man advantage. Palat set up Steven Stamkos for one goal and then Brayden Point for an early third period goal. He is one of those wingers who can play on the first, second, or third lines without complaint or drop in play. Palat now has 22 points in 32 games on the season and remains a great add in deeper leagues where his waiver wire percentage is higher.

Palat is producing good numbers at both ends of the ice this season, sitting on 20 points and 52 hits with 31 games played. He's been an integral part of the top line and currently finds himself on pace for a 53-point year, which would be his best in seven seasons.

Ondrej Palat Tilts Finals Rematch In Tampa's Favor

Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat provided late drama in Tuesday's Stanley Cup Finals rematch against Montreal, scoring a 3-2 game-winning goal with 38 seconds left in regulation. The reigning champions made a very late comeback, with Corey Perry tying the game with just a little over two minutes left. The Czech winger is now on seven goals and 15 points for the season with 25 games played.
