Maltsev, who is 23 years old, has recorded nine points in 33 career regular season contests. Graves played on Colorado's second defensive pairing, recording two goals and 13 assists in 54 games. The 26-year-old had an excellent plus-15 rating in 2021.

With the Avalanche missing some time due to COVID-19, they still have seven games left to play, and Graves' addition comes at a good time with Samuel Girard getting forced out of the lineup with an undisclosed injury.
