Logan Cooley Bags Three Points In Win Over Lightning

Utah Hockey Club center Logan Cooley had a fun Saturday night, completing a 6-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning with three points. He scored in each of the first two periods and had an assist on a Nick Schmaltz strike in the third period, which ended up as the game-winning goal. Cooley became only the fifth active U.S.-born player to record multiple 20-goal seasons at age 20 or younger. He has tallied 21 goals for the season while adding 32 assists across 63 games. Compared to his rookie campaign, Cooley has increased his production in every category and will head into the upcoming week with a four-game point streak.

Karel Vejmelka Earns Victory On Sunday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced en route to defeating the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday evening. The shot remained quite even through most of the contest, but Vejmelka was able to step up when called on. His lone mistake came in the second frame when Vancouver defenseman Quinn Hughes scored on the power play. This was a nice bounce-back showing for Vejmelka, as he allowed three goals on just 21 shots during his previous game. Over his previous six contests, the 28-year-old has struggled to find consistency as he has held a 3-1-2 record with a 2.45 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Fantasy managers should expect Vejmelka to remain in the starting crease in their next contest on Tuesday evening against a potent Edmonton offense.

Nick Bjugstad Returns For Utah Sunday

Utah Hockey Club center Nick Bjugstad (upper body) is expected to return to action on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks. He was activated from Injured Reserve on Friday and will take over from Liam O'Brien (lower body), who has been ruled out for four weeks. Bjugstad has missed five games, having last played on March 1. The veteran forward has seen his play decline in 2024-25, as Bjugstad has managed only 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 53 appearances. However, he is averaging 1.7 hits per game for the season and will bring physicality to the lineup in a fourth-line role.

Liam O'Brien Exits With Undisclosed Injury

Utah Hockey Club center Liam O'Brien (undisclosed) exited Friday's contest against the Seattle Kraken. After the contest, the team did not provide an update on his status. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress leading up to their next contest on Sunday evening against the Vancouver Canucks. The 30-year-old logged just over seven minutes of ice time. He did not get on the scoresheet but added two hits, one blocked shot with a +1 rating. If he were to miss time, Nick Bjugstad or Matias Maccelli could enter the starting lineup. Through 27 contests this season, O'Brien has not found the back of the net and tallied only two helpers. He has averaged 3.6 hits per game (98 total) and added 50 penalty minutes with 10 blocked shots.

Karel Vejmelka Makes Ninth Consecutive Start Friday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will make his ninth consecutive start in Friday's clash against the Seattle Kraken. He has posted a 5-1-2 record since becoming ever-present in the crease. Over the course of the season, Vejmelka has gone 18-16-6 with one shutout. He has allowed 2.47 goals while posting a .909 save percentage. Although his recent success will boost Vejmelka's confidence, he had a difficult time when Seattle and Utah met for the first time this season, coughing up four goals on 32 shots in a 5-2 defeat on Dec. 30.

Dylan Guenther Nets Game-Winner Over Anaheim

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther scored the game-winner during their victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday evening. Guenther would tally the primary assist on Alexander Kerfoot's goal in the second frame. In the final period, Guenther would find the back of the net on the power-play which broke the stalemate and served as the game-winner. Since returning to action on February 4, Guenther has tallied 14 points (in 13 games) with eight goals and six shots. He has scored four of his goals on the power-play and averaged an impressive 4.7 shots on goal per game. Before this surge, he tallied just two points over his last eight. Guenther is a solid option in standard formats and DFS as he will look to remain productive on Friday evening when they travel to Seattle to face the Kraken.

Karel Vejmelka Facing Anaheim On Wednesday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening against the Anaheim Ducks. Vejmelka will be making his eighth-straight start. During this seven-game stretch, the 28-year-old has held a 4-1-2 record with a strong 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Before this stretch, the 28-year-old has posted an underwhelming 3.25 GAA with a .885 save percentage. Through 41 total contests this season, Vejmelka has posted a 17-16 record with a .909 save percentage, 2.49 GAA and one shutout. Fantasy managers should consider Vejmelka as a solid option in deeper formats this evening as the Ducks have struggled to generate scoring opportunities consistently. DFS players should also consider starting Vejmelka as he should be in a good position to pick up a victory.

Connor Ingram Re-Enters Player Assistance Program

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram has re-entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, making him unavailable for an indefinite period. He first joined the program in 2021 as a member of the Nashville Predators. Ingram has admitted he has not been himself since his mother died of breast cancer in early December. The 27-year-old has posted a 9-8-4 record this season, allowing 3.27 goals with a .882 save percentage. On Sunday, Utah recalled Jaxson Stauber from the AHL to serve as Karel Vejmelka's backup. Vejmelka has made six consecutive starts and should see a lot of action over the final few weeks as Utah continues to battle for a playoff berth.

Nick Bjugstad Battling Illness

Utah Hockey Club center Nick Bjugstad (illness) was unable to skate on Tuesday due to an illness. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Thursday evening against the Detroit Red Wings. After missing the first eight contests of the season, Bjugstad has held a role primarily in the bottom-six of the offense. Over his past seven games, Bjugstad has not gotten on the scoresheet. During this span he has tallied 13 hits and logged 13 shots on goal. Before this stretch, he tallied three helpers over his last five contests. Through 53 total contests, the 32-year-old has found the back of the net five times and added 10 helpers. He has logged 89 hits with 26 blocks. If he were to sit out on Thursday, Michael Carcone (lower body) could enter the starting lineup.

Logan Cooley A Game-Time Call Sunday

Utah Hockey Club center Logan Cooley (lower body) has been labeled as a game-time call for Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks. The talented youngster has missed seven games due to a lower-body injury. However, he appears poised to return to action against Chicago, as Utah has activated Cooley from Injured Reserve. Cooley is among Utah's highest-scoring players, having tallied 15 goals and 43 points in 50 games. He is likely to reclaim a top-six spot upon his return and should see plenty of power-play time. Cooley has accumulated 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) with the man advantage this season.

Sean Durzi Returns From 52-Game Absence

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Sean Durzi (shoulder) will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's tilt against the Los Angeles Kings. The versatile blue-liner injured his right shoulder early in the season and has missed 52 games. A season ago, Durzi led all Arizona Coyotes defensemen with 41 points (nine goals, 32 assists), and he opened the new campaign with two assists in four games. Utah plans to partner Durzi with Olli Maatta on the second defensive pairing. He is also expected to operate on the second power-play unit. Given his long absence, it is unrealistic to expect Durzi to make an immediate impact, but he should be a solid two-way contributor for fantasy managers over the final stretch of the season.

Matias Maccelli Heads Back To Press Box Sunday

Utah Hockey Club left wing Matias Maccelli will skip Sunday's meeting with the Washington Capitals as a healthy scratch. He will need to settle for a spot in the press box for a third time in seven games. After sitting out Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Maccelli returned to the lineup for Saturday's matchup versus the Carolina Hurricanes. He finished a big 7-3 loss with one power-play assist, one shot on goal, one block, and a minus-one rating. The Finnish winger has tallied 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 52 appearances this season, but nine of the points came in Maccelli's first 17 outings. Enforcer Liam O'Brien will join the lineup in place of Maccelli on Sunday.

Connor Ingram Takes On Capitals Sunday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram will be between the sticks on Sunday against the Washington Capitals. Utah will finish off a back-to-back and used Karel Vejmelka in the net in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Ingram last saw action on Thursday, improving to 9-7-4 for the season with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets. On Sunday, the 27-year-old will attempt to win a second consecutive outing for only the third time this season. He is sporting a 3.16 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage ahead of the tough matchup. The Capitals put four pucks past Ingram with only 13 shots in a 6-2 victory on Nov. 18.

Matias Maccelli Sits Out Thursday's Action

Utah Hockey Club left wing Matias Maccelli will come out of the lineup as a healthy scratch on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. His spot will be filled by Lawson Crouse, who took a seat in the press box for Tuesday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Maccelli has been struggling for a while, recording only eight points since December. He boasts eight goals and 17 points in 51 games for the season. Crouse has also had a tough time making an impact in 2024-25. Through 52 outings, he has posted 11 points (seven goals, four assists). Josh Doan and Jack McBain will accompany Crouse on the third line on Thursday.

Dylan Guenther Returns To Utah Lineup

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther (lower body) will rejoin the action on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers, ending a 12-game absence. The talented winger is set to replace Lawson Crouse, who will be a healthy scratch for the contest. Utah head coach Andre Tourigny will partner Guenther with Barrett Hayton and Michael Carcone on the third line. At the same time, Guenther should reclaim a spot on the first power-play unit. Guenther has picked up 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) with the man advantage this season and ranks fourth overall in scoring on the Utah roster. He boasts 16 goals and 34 points through 40 outings.

Logan Cooley Out Indefinitely

According to the team, Utah Hockey Club center Logan Cooley (lower body) will be sidelined indefinitely. The center sustained this injury during their overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday evening. The team noted that the 20-year-old will be evaluated after the 4-Nations Face-Off break. The 20-year-old was on pace to smash his rookie production as he tallied 15 goals and 28 helpers across 50 games. Last season, Cooley tallied just 44 points in 82 games in his debut season. Utah is also without forward Dylan Guenther (lower body). As a result, fantasy managers should expect Barrett Hayton and Jack McBain to operate as the top centers in the offense for the foreseeable future.

Dylan Guenther Upgraded To Day-To-Day

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther (lower body) is getting close to returning to the lineup. On Wednesday, Utah head coach Andre Tourigny told reporters that Guenther is now considered day-to-day. The team ruled him out indefinitely on Jan. 10 after Guenther had sustained a lower-body injury. Utah has seen Guenther quickly blossom into one of the best players on the team. He has recorded 16 goals and 34 points in 40 games this term. The team returns to action on Friday versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Mikhail Sergachev Viewed As Game-Time Decision For Wednesday's Contest

According to Cole Bagley, Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) is expected to be a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 26-year-old defenseman has missed the previous five contests with this injury. If he were to remain sidelined on Wednesday, fantasy managers should expect Oli Maata to move up to the top pairing and John Marino to earn more time on the power-play. Prior to the injury, Sergachev tallied three helpers over his previous seven contests. During this span, he has logged 11 blocked shots and 11 shots on goal. Overall, Sergachev has scored eight goals and added 22 helpers with 81 blocked shots across 44 contests this season.

Mikhail Sergachev Misses Meeting With Blues

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) will not play against St. Louis on Saturday. An upper-body injury will keep Sergachev out of action for the first time this season. The 2024-25 campaign has been a big one for Sergachev, who is just outside the top 10 on the defensemen scoring list. He has tallied 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) in 44 appearances. Utah has also received a big effort from Sergachev without the puck, as the Russian blue-liner ranks second on the team with 81 blocks. John Marino will get an increase in minutes on Saturday, moving to the first defensive pairing. He will also join the second power-play unit, with Michael Kesselring replacing Sergachev on the top unit.

John Marino Set For Utah Debut On Tuesday

Utah Hockey Club defenseman John Marino (back) has been activated from Injured Reserve and appears poised to make his team debut on Tuesday against Montreal. Utah moved Dylan Guenther (lower body) to Injured Reserve in a corresponding move. Marino, an offseason trade acquisition from New Jersey, has yet to play in 2024-25 due to back surgery. He recorded 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 75 games with 57 shots and 89 blocks last season. Utah will initially use him in a third-pairing role, which limits his fantasy value, but Marino should move up in the lineup once he's shaken off some rust.
