Sean Durzi Returns From 52-Game Absence

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Sean Durzi (shoulder) will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's tilt against the Los Angeles Kings. The versatile blue-liner injured his right shoulder early in the season and has missed 52 games. A season ago, Durzi led all Arizona Coyotes defensemen with 41 points (nine goals, 32 assists), and he opened the new campaign with two assists in four games. Utah plans to partner Durzi with Olli Maatta on the second defensive pairing. He is also expected to operate on the second power-play unit. Given his long absence, it is unrealistic to expect Durzi to make an immediate impact, but he should be a solid two-way contributor for fantasy managers over the final stretch of the season.

Matias Maccelli Heads Back To Press Box Sunday

Utah Hockey Club left wing Matias Maccelli will skip Sunday's meeting with the Washington Capitals as a healthy scratch. He will need to settle for a spot in the press box for a third time in seven games. After sitting out Thursday's 3-2 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Maccelli returned to the lineup for Saturday's matchup versus the Carolina Hurricanes. He finished a big 7-3 loss with one power-play assist, one shot on goal, one block, and a minus-one rating. The Finnish winger has tallied 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 52 appearances this season, but nine of the points came in Maccelli's first 17 outings. Enforcer Liam O'Brien will join the lineup in place of Maccelli on Sunday.

Connor Ingram Takes On Capitals Sunday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram will be between the sticks on Sunday against the Washington Capitals. Utah will finish off a back-to-back and used Karel Vejmelka in the net in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Ingram last saw action on Thursday, improving to 9-7-4 for the season with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets. On Sunday, the 27-year-old will attempt to win a second consecutive outing for only the third time this season. He is sporting a 3.16 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage ahead of the tough matchup. The Capitals put four pucks past Ingram with only 13 shots in a 6-2 victory on Nov. 18.

Matias Maccelli Sits Out Thursday's Action

Utah Hockey Club left wing Matias Maccelli will come out of the lineup as a healthy scratch on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. His spot will be filled by Lawson Crouse, who took a seat in the press box for Tuesday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Maccelli has been struggling for a while, recording only eight points since December. He boasts eight goals and 17 points in 51 games for the season. Crouse has also had a tough time making an impact in 2024-25. Through 52 outings, he has posted 11 points (seven goals, four assists). Josh Doan and Jack McBain will accompany Crouse on the third line on Thursday.

Dylan Guenther Returns To Utah Lineup

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther (lower body) will rejoin the action on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers, ending a 12-game absence. The talented winger is set to replace Lawson Crouse, who will be a healthy scratch for the contest. Utah head coach Andre Tourigny will partner Guenther with Barrett Hayton and Michael Carcone on the third line. At the same time, Guenther should reclaim a spot on the first power-play unit. Guenther has picked up 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) with the man advantage this season and ranks fourth overall in scoring on the Utah roster. He boasts 16 goals and 34 points through 40 outings.

Logan Cooley  • C  •  Hockey Club

Logan Cooley Out Indefinitely

According to the team, Utah Hockey Club center Logan Cooley (lower body) will be sidelined indefinitely. The center sustained this injury during their overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday evening. The team noted that the 20-year-old will be evaluated after the 4-Nations Face-Off break. The 20-year-old was on pace to smash his rookie production as he tallied 15 goals and 28 helpers across 50 games. Last season, Cooley tallied just 44 points in 82 games in his debut season. Utah is also without forward Dylan Guenther (lower body). As a result, fantasy managers should expect Barrett Hayton and Jack McBain to operate as the top centers in the offense for the foreseeable future.

Dylan Guenther Upgraded To Day-To-Day

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther (lower body) is getting close to returning to the lineup. On Wednesday, Utah head coach Andre Tourigny told reporters that Guenther is now considered day-to-day. The team ruled him out indefinitely on Jan. 10 after Guenther had sustained a lower-body injury. Utah has seen Guenther quickly blossom into one of the best players on the team. He has recorded 16 goals and 34 points in 40 games this term. The team returns to action on Friday versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Mikhail Sergachev Viewed As Game-Time Decision For Wednesday's Contest

According to Cole Bagley, Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) is expected to be a game-time decision for Wednesday's contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 26-year-old defenseman has missed the previous five contests with this injury. If he were to remain sidelined on Wednesday, fantasy managers should expect Oli Maata to move up to the top pairing and John Marino to earn more time on the power-play. Prior to the injury, Sergachev tallied three helpers over his previous seven contests. During this span, he has logged 11 blocked shots and 11 shots on goal. Overall, Sergachev has scored eight goals and added 22 helpers with 81 blocked shots across 44 contests this season.

Mikhail Sergachev Misses Meeting With Blues

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Mikhail Sergachev (upper body) will not play against St. Louis on Saturday. An upper-body injury will keep Sergachev out of action for the first time this season. The 2024-25 campaign has been a big one for Sergachev, who is just outside the top 10 on the defensemen scoring list. He has tallied 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) in 44 appearances. Utah has also received a big effort from Sergachev without the puck, as the Russian blue-liner ranks second on the team with 81 blocks. John Marino will get an increase in minutes on Saturday, moving to the first defensive pairing. He will also join the second power-play unit, with Michael Kesselring replacing Sergachev on the top unit.

John Marino Set For Utah Debut On Tuesday

Utah Hockey Club defenseman John Marino (back) has been activated from Injured Reserve and appears poised to make his team debut on Tuesday against Montreal. Utah moved Dylan Guenther (lower body) to Injured Reserve in a corresponding move. Marino, an offseason trade acquisition from New Jersey, has yet to play in 2024-25 due to back surgery. He recorded 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 75 games with 57 shots and 89 blocks last season. Utah will initially use him in a third-pairing role, which limits his fantasy value, but Marino should move up in the lineup once he's shaken off some rust.

Karel Vejmelka Snaps Skid On Friday Night

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced en route to defeating the San Jose Sharks. Vejmelka's lone blemish came in the opening frame on a wrist shot from Fabian Zetterlund. Vejmelka was able to shut the door for the remainder of the evening. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 28-year-old as he carried a 1-4-1 record over his past six games into Friday's contest. During this span, he allowed three or more goals in four of them and never allowed one or less. Before this cold stretch, he was riding a four-game win streak. Vejmelka will look to start a new winning streak in his next start, which will likely be Tuesday evening against the Canadiens, as Connor Ingram will likely get the nod in the second half of a back-to-back on Saturday night.

Dylan Guenther  • RW  •  Hockey Club

Dylan Guenther Ruled Out Indefinitely

Utah Hockey Club right wing Dylan Guenther (lower body) has been ruled out indefinitely. The team announced the news ahead of Friday's clash against San Jose. This is a bad blow for the NHL's newest franchise, as Guenther is among Utah's best players. The 21-year-old has scored a team-high 16 goals and boasts 34 points in 40 appearances. Utah has recalled Josh Doan from the AHL to replace Guenther in the lineup. Doan has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in nine NHL appearances this season while producing nearly a point per game in the minors. He's expected to link up with Matias Maccelli and Barrett Hayton on the second line in Friday's game

Clayton Keller A Game-Time Call Thursday

Utah Hockey Club winger Clayton Keller (illness) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's action against Calgary. Per Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah head coach Andre Tourigny has stated that Keller's status for the game, along with that of some other players, is "up in the air." Utah's star forward missed Tuesday's tilt against Edmonton due to illness. Keller had a big month in December with 15 points and has provided consistent production for fantasy managers throughout the campaign. He leads his team in scoring with 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists) through 36 appearances. Matias Maccelli will likely have an expanded role on Thursday if Keller remains out.

Karel Vejmelka Takes On Kraken Monday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will be the man between the pipes for the team on Monday against Seattle. He gets the nod for the first leg of a back-to-back, with Jaxson Stauber likely working on Tuesday against Edmonton in the final game of 2024. Vejmelka has been in good form throughout the campaign but enters Monday's matchup with a losing streak. The Czech netminder has suffered two straight defeats despite allowing only five total goals in meetings with Dallas and Colorado. The losses have dropped Vejmelka's record to 8-9-2. However, he has the fifth-lowest goals-against average in the league at 2.32 and the fourth-best save percentage at .918. The Kraken sit among the league's lowest-scoring teams, so Vejmelka appears to be in a good spot to return to winning ways on Monday night.

Clayton Keller Tallies Four Points On Sunday

Utah Hockey Club right wing Clayton Keller tallied two goals and two assists during their shootout loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday evening. Keller opened the scoring with a deflection goal to give Utah an early lead. Later in the period, he would tally the secondary assist on Barrett Hayton's six goal of the season. In the opening minutes of the second frame, Keller would tally the primary assist on Logan Cooley's power-play goal. Later in the frame, Keller would score his second goal of the game, on a snap shot. This performance extended Keller's point streak to four games. During this span, he has posted three multi-point showings and tallied nine total points. Since the start of December (nine games) the 26-year-old has tallied 13 points with eight of them coming on the power-play.

Jaxson Stauber Faces Flyers Sunday

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Jaxson Stauber will get the start for Sunday's matchup against Philadelphia. This marks only his second appearance of the season. Stauber's season debut couldn't have gone any better, as he took down a strong Vegas team with 29 saves in a 6-0 win on Nov. 30. The result gives Stauber an impressive 6-1-0 career record in the NHL. Philadelphia has produced 2.89 goals per game this season, so Stauber finds himself in a decent spot to log another victory on Sunday.

Nick Schmaltz Nets Lone Utah Goal In Monday's Defeat

Utah Hockey Club forward Nick Schmaltz was the team's lone scorer in Monday's 2-1 loss to Dallas. With Matias Maccelli and Nick Bjugstad setting him up, Schmaltz made it a one-goal game at 6:57 in the third period, but Utah couldn't generate any more goals. Schmaltz recorded all of his first 17 points of the season via assists but has now scored three goals in two games. He skates on the top line with Barrett Hayton and Utah's top scorer, Clayton Keller, who boasts 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) through 25 games. The trio gets to do damage next in a back-to-back set over the weekend as Utah faces Buffalo and Philadelphia, two teams that can be fragile defensively.

Nick Schmaltz Ends Scoring Drought On Saturday

Utah Hockey Club right wing Nick Schmaltz found the back of the net twice during Saturday's victory over the Utah Hockey Club. Schmaltz's first tally was in the opening frame off a wrist shot. Later in the second, the 28-year-old tallied a power-play goal to extend their lead. In addition, he also logged five shots on goal. These were Schmaltz's first two tallies of the campaign. Entering this game, he had registered just 17 helpers across 23 contests. Despite him just ending his scoring drought on Saturday, fantasy managers should continue to view him as a steady fantasy producer, given his role in the Utah top-6 and No.1 power-play unit. Schmaltz will look to stay hot on Monday when he faces the Dallas Stars.

Maveric Lamoureux  • D  •  Hockey Club

Maveric Lamoureux To Miss 4-6 Weeks

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Maveric Lamoureux (upper body) will be absent for 4-6 weeks. He'll be out for a second consecutive game on Saturday versus Vegas. Lamoureux has seen a solid amount of action during his rookie campaign, averaging 16:07 of ice time across 15 appearances. He has recorded one goal and two assists with 17 shots, 11 blocks, and 18 hits. Lamoureux's spot in the lineup has gone to Juuso Valimaki, who tallied an assist in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton. This marked his first point of the season in 17 contests, so it's safe to leave Valimaki on the waiver wire.

Connor Ingram Ruled Out For The Rest Of The Week

Utah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram (upper body) will not return to action this week. He's sat out four games and won't be available for the team's back-to-back set, which starts on Friday versus Edmonton. Karel Vejmelka will pick up another start against the Oilers, while Jaxson Stauber might get a look in Saturday's matchup versus Vegas. Vejmelka has gone 2-2-0 during Ingram's absence, allowing only seven goals. He has a 3-6-0 record for the season and boasts a strong 2.25 goals-against average with a .922 save percentage. The Czech netminder has been in impressive form lately but faces an improving Oilers offense, which has scored three-plus goals in seven of the past eight games.
