Logan Cooley News
Arizona Coyotes center Logan Cooley had a very productive regular-season debut in the NHL on Friday, delivering two power-play assists in a 4-3 shootout victory against New Jersey. The 19-year-old became the second-youngest player in franchise history to log multiple points in his debut. Cooley's line also included two shots, one block, two penalty minutes, and one hit. He had over five minutes of power-play time and logged 19:02 of total ice time. This was a great start to the season from the young Coyotes centerman, who is seen as one of the biggest challengers to No. 1 pick Connor Bedard in the battle for the Calder Trophy. The two are set to go head to head soon, with the Blackhawks visiting the Mullett Arena on Oct. 30.
Arizona Coyotes center Logan Cooley grabbed the headlines as the NHL preseason kicked off with a Global Series game in Australia on Saturday. Cooley scored the game-winning goal in a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, finishing off a spectacular spin-o-rama move in the middle of the second period. This was the first taste of NHL action for the 19-year-old, and it's possible he won't score a better goal for the rest of his career. Cooley is set to be one of the top rookies in the league this season, and he appears ready to make an instant impact.
Arizona Coyotes center Logan Cooley is confident that he will make the team for the 2023-24 season and sees himself having an impact straight away. "I'm a guy that's super competitive. I've always had high expectations," Cooley said Tuesday. "Going in, I want to be an impactful player. That's my goal. I want to help this team win as many games as possible, I want to produce and I want to thrive in this league. And I feel like I'm ready to do that." The 19-year-old will get his first taste of NHL action next week when the Coyotes face the Los Angeles Kings in a pair of NHL Global Series games in Australia.
Arizona Coyotes center Logan Cooley has signed a three-year entry-level contract and is set to debut in the NHL in 2023-24. The University of Minnesota standout initially planned to return for his sophomore college year, but he ended up changing his mind. Cooley, who was selected third overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, led Minnesota in scoring as a freshman with 22 goals and 38 assists in 39 appearances, helping the Golden Gophers reach the NCAA championship game. "We are thrilled to sign Logan to an NHL contract," general manager Bill Armstrong said in a press release. "Logan is an incredibly skilled player who had an excellent season with the Golden Gophers last year. He has established himself as one of the top prospects in the world. He is a very important player for us, and he has an extremely bright future ahead. We look forward to watching him play for the Coyotes for many years to come." Cooley is set to see plenty of action in the Coyotes top six and should be one of the top rookies next season.
