MacKenzie Weegar Officially Cleared To Play Tuesday

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (lower body) will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken. He was unavailable for Saturday's matchup with the New York Islanders. However, it was expected that he would make a quick return to the lineup, and Flames head coach Ryan Huska has confirmed that Weegar will play against the Kraken. Saturday's game marked Weegar's first absence of the season. Thanks to a strong second half of the season, Weegar has a chance to record his second consecutive 50-point campaign. He has notched 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists) in 68 outings.

MacKenzie Weegar Expected To Be Fine For Tuesday

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (lower body) is likely to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken. Weegar was a late scratch for Saturday's contest against the New York Islanders due to a lower-body injury. However, Flames head coach Ryan Huska told reporters postgame that he expects to see Weegar back in action against Seattle. Brayden Pachal played instead of Weegar on Saturday and is likely to head back to the press box on Tuesday. Weegar has enjoyed a good campaign with the Flames, sitting only a couple of assists shy of matching his career high. He has managed 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists) in 68 games. Additionally, the Flames defenseman is 11 away from reaching 200 hits for the campaign and has recorded 157 blocks.

MacKenzie Weegar Notches Three Assists Against Rangers

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar played his part in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Rangers with three assists. Weegar set up one power-play goal and two even-strength tallies as Calgary improved to 8-3-0 on home ice. The 30-year-old blue-liner led all skaters with seven shots on goal. Since starting the campaign with goals in back-to-back games, Weegar has lit the lamp just one more time, adding eight assists in 20 appearances. He's on 56 shots, 48 blocks, and 51 hits. Weegar's scoring pace has dropped compared to 2023-24, but his all-around ability keeps his fantasy stock high.

MacKenzie Weegar Snags Two Power-Play Assists Sunday

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar tallied two assists in Sunday's 5-2 loss in the Heritage Classic against Edmonton. Both helpers came on the power play as Weegar reached three points for the season with his first assists of the year. Weegar went from a 44-point guy to a 31-point player last season, and 2023-24 hasn't started well for him either. Before Sunday's action, he hadn't managed any points since Calgary's season opener, and Weegar has an awful minus-five rating through nine outings. He and the rest of the Flames clearly need to do better following a fifth consecutive loss.

MacKenzie Weegar Set To Return Wednesday

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (illness) is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday against Vancouver. He landed on the shelf with a non-COVID illness prior to Monday's action versus Montreal, but Weegar has had a couple of days to recover and looks to be on track to return to the lineup after participating in the morning skate. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing campaign offensively with only six points in 28 games, but he's put in a lot of work on the defensive side of things, registering 63 hits and 43 blocks.

MacKenzie Weegar Uncertain For Monday

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar is battling an illness and might not play Monday versus Montreal. He missed the morning skate with a non-COVID illness, and if Weegar can't play either, he will sit out his first contest of the season. The 28-year-old is having a disappointing debut campaign in Calgary, boasting only six points through 28 games after having a career year in 2021-22 with 44 points. He hasn't even scored a single goal yet despite firing 50 shots on the net. If Weegar can't go on Monday, Nikita Zadorov looks set to take his spot on the second defensive pairing, while Connor Mackey will get an opportunity to make his sixth appearance of the season.

MacKenzie Weegar Agrees To Eight-Year Deal With Flames

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar has agreed to an eight-year extension with the club. He earned himself a $50 million deal and will start to carry a $6.25 million cap hit from next season. Weegar, who was part of the Jonathan Huberdeau trade in the summer, had a career year with 44 points last season with the Panthers, adding 156 blocks and 179 hits. The 28-year-old has developed into one of the best defensemen in fantasy hockey and he should put up similar numbers in a top-pairing role in Calgary.

MacKenzie Weegar Posts Three Points In Panthers Victory

Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar played a significant role in defeating Carolina 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. Weegar contributed to all four Panthers tallies, recording a goal and three helpers. The 27-year-old defenseman has been an essential player for Florida all season, with four goals and 25 assists through 47 games. He logs over 22:00 minutes of total ice time per contest. He floats a bit under the radar in fantasy play as he is rostered in just 60 percent of leagues.

MacKenzie Weegar Back In Lineup On Thursday

Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar will make his return to the lineup as his team hosts the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night. Weegar had missed Florida's previous two contests due to an upper-body injury and will take his place on the right side of the team's top defensive pair alongside defenseman Gustav Forsling. Playing in his fourth full NHL season, the Ottawa native has evolved into a reliable fantasy option in 2020-2021 due to his strong cross-category production. Through 45 games, Weegar has registered 25 points (three goals, 22 assists), a plus-17 rating, 79 shots, 99 hits and 59 blocks.

MacKenzie Weegar Out On Monday With Upper-Body Injury

Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (upper body) will miss Monday's home game against Columbus. The 27-year-old is forced to sit out his first game of the season, with Anton Stralman joining Gustav Forsling on the first defensive pairing. Weegar has been Florida's top defenseman ever since Aaron Ekblad (broken leg) was ruled out for the rest of the regular season. He's posted three goals and 25 points with a plus-17 rating this season. Thankfully for the Panthers, the Ottawa-born blueliner is listed day-to-day, so he shouldn't be out for long. Monday marks the start of a four-game week for the team.
