Winnipeg Jets defenseman Ville Heinola (ankle) will be out for a minimum of four weeks after undergoing surgery. Heinola has been battling an ankle infection. Jets head coach Scott Arniel revealed on Thursday that Heinola had a pin removed from his ankle, which was surgically repaired last season. Heinola didn't make a single NHL appearance in 2023-24 but suited up for 41 AHL games after making his season debut in January. He finished with 10 goals and 27 points. The 23-year-old would add some quality to the Jets defense, but unfortunately, we won't see him for a while. Fellow blue-liners Logan Stanley and Dylan Samberg are currently also battling health issues, but according to Arniel, neither player is dealing with anything serious.

The 22-year-old blue-liner had a productive AHL campaign last term with 37 points (four goals, 33 assists) across 48 outings and hoped to break into the NHL roster for the new season. So far, he's skated in 35 games in the big league, scoring once and delivering 10 assists.
