Ville Husso Headed For Conditioning Stint

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) has been loaded to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint. The 29-year-old has been limited to just 19 games with the Red Wings this season due to lower-body injuries. He suffered an original lower-body injury in a Dec. 18 contest against the Ducks, forcing him out until Feb. 13. However, he left that game against the Oilers after just 8:48 due to an aggravation of the ailment and hasn't appeared in a game since. The former St. Louis Blues netminder struggled to a 3.55 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage in the NHL this season while Alex Lyon has taken over the crease in Husso's absence.

Ville Husso Considered Week-To-Week

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) won't be available Thursday versus Vancouver and is considered week-to-week. Making his first appearance since Dec. 18, Husso was hurt against Edmonton on Tuesday, and it will now take a while before he will be available again. The Finnish netminder has put together a 9-5-2 record in 2023-24, allowing 3.55 goals with a .892 save percentage. Alex Lyon has received most of the starts in recent months and will continue to carry a heavy load.

Ville Husso Sent On Conditioning Stint

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) was activated off IR and loaned to AHL Grand Rapids to begin a conditioning stint. Husso hasn't played since December 18 due to a lower-body injury, so he will get some time in the minors before resuming his role in Detroit. Unfortunately for Husso and his fantasy owners, he might have lost the starter job to Alex Lyon while he was out. Lyon has gone 11-6-1 with a 2.67 GAA, .917 SV%, and 8.8 GSAA. On the other hand, Husso is 9-5-2 with a 3.53 GAA, .893 SV%, and -6.0 GSAA. Fantasy owners should hold Husso for now, but he has a short leash.

Ville Husso Leaves Monday's Game Early

Detroit Red Wings goalie Ville Husso (lower body) was removed from Monday's game in the first period due to an apparent lower-body injury. Husso had to be helped off the ice and is not expected to be ready for Wednesday's game, which is bad news considering that is two days away and the team already assumes he won't be good to go. With Alex Lyon set to miss some time, Husso would've been in line for the majority of starts, but they will now go to James Reimer. Reimer is a solid add in leagues where bulk matters.

Ville Husso Back In The Crease Wednesday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso is back in the crease for Wednesday's road contest against the New York Rangers. The former Blues netminder has seen his playing time take a notable dip of late as he has made just one start since Nov. 11 but prevailed with a 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins. It was just the second time in 11 starts this season Husso has allowed fewer than three goals. The Finn is battling both James Reimer and Alex Lyon for playing time in the Red Wings' crease and another solid outing against a tough Rangers team would go a long way toward increased playing time. The 28-year-old owns a 3.47 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage in his 11 appearances this season.

Ville Husso Collects Win In Return To Crease

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso stopped 25-of-27 shots on goal in Friday's 5-2 victory against the Bruins. Husso had a great performance in his first start since Nov. 11 against the Blue Jackets while he was away with his wife to welcome their newborn child, and the Red Wings were playing in Sweden for the 2023 NHL Global Series. Husso's two goals against are tied for his fewest allowed in a game this season, while he has picked up wins in four of his previous five starts. Husso has struggled out of the gate this season with a 3.47 goals against average and .888 save percentage through 11 appearances, but fantasy managers should continue to start the netminder while the team is winning games.

Ville Husso To Miss Global Series Following Birth Of Daughter

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso will not participate in the 2023 Global Series in Sweden following the birth of his daughter. Head coach Derek Lalonde has already declared veteran James Reimer as Thursday's starter versus the Ottawa Senators, and while Alex Lyon is expected to start Friday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, nothing is official at this time. "We'll get through the game (Thursday) and see where it goes," Lalonde said. It's been tough sledding for the 28-year-old in his second season with Detroit, as Husso owns a 3.61 goals-against average and an .885 save percentage but has managed to go 6-3-1 thanks to a Red Wings offense that is tied for fourth with 3.67 goals per game on the season.

Ville Husso Returns To Red Wings Crease

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso will be back between the pipes Wednesday versus Pittsburgh. He got a breather last time out against Columbus. James Reimer had an impressive showing Monday versus the Blue Jackets with a 23-save shutout, but Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde will go back to his No. 1 option Wednesday. Husso has gone 1-1-0 in his first two starts of 2023-24, allowing 3.57 goals with a .863 save percentage. He will definitely need to improve if he wants to keep Reimer firmly behind him. Wednesday provides Husso with a stern test against a team that is off to a hot start and averages 3.67 goals per game.

Ville Husso Between The Pipes Against Tampa Bay

Detroit Red Wings goalie Ville Husso was pulled in his last outing after giving up three goals on five shots for his third-straight loss as the Stars defeated him in his previous start. Although the 28-year-old had a promising start to the season, his performance has significantly dwindled lately, resulting in a 26-21-7 record, a .896 save percentage, and a 3.09 goals-against average. He takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are in the middle of a four-game losing skid.

Ville Husso Between The Pipes Tuesday

Detroit Red Wings goalie Ville Husso will be the starting goalie against Montreal on Tuesday. Husso had been out of action since March 20 due to a lower-body injury and lost his third consecutive game against Florida after allowing five goals on 25 shots. The 28-year-old has had an inconsistent first season in Detroit, accumulating a 25-19-6 record, a 3.01 goals-against average, and an .899 save percentage. He will face goalie Cayden Primeau and the Canadiens, who are currently on a three-game losing streak.

Ville Husso Could Be Done For The Season

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) might be finished for the season. He dropped out of the lineup a week ago with a lower-body injury and it's still being determined if he can return before the season is done. Husso has had a mixed campaign, going 25-19-6 in 51 starts while giving up 3.02 goals per game with a .899 save percentage and one shutout. Alex Nedeljkovic is set for his third straight start Tuesday versus Pittsburgh, with Magnus Hellberg the other option in goal for Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde.

Ville Husso Out With A Lower-Body Injury

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso will miss Thursday's contest versus St. Louis with a nagging lower-body injury. The team has recalled Alex Nedeljkovic on an emergency basis to cover for Husso, who has dropped seven of his last nine starts. With him unavailable, Magnus Hellberg will be getting the nod for his 13th start of the season Thursday. The 31-year-old has a 5-7-1- record with a 2.87 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. He beat the Blues 3-2 in a shootout Tuesday and will now aim to win back-to-back starts for the first time this season.

Ville Husso Back In Action Sunday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) is good to go Sunday against Philadelphia. He was unavailable for Saturday's matchup against the Islanders due to a minor injury but is now feeling well enough to play again. Husso will get his 46th start, looking to improve a 23-15-6 record. He has posted a 2.95 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage and three shutouts, and Husso will look to avenge a 2-1 defeat suffered against the Flyers on Jan. 21.

Ville Husso Out On Saturday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso will skip Saturday's contest against the Islanders with a minor injury. The team hasn't disclosed what is bothering him, but Husso didn't finish Friday's practice and will take some time off to get healthy again. The 2022-23 campaign has no doubt been a frustrating one for the Finnish netminder, as he's performed well for most of the year but has a poor 23-15-6 record. Husso is among the league leaders with three shutouts but also sits on a lackluster 2.95 goals-against average and has produced a .903 save percentage. Magnus Hellberg, who is 4-5-1 for the season, looks set to start on Saturday.

Ville Husso Likely Between The Pipes Saturday

Detroit Red Wings goalie Ville Husso will likely be patrolling the goal crease Saturday against Philadelphia. Husso registered a victory in his last start beating Vegas 3-2 Thursday. He logged 33 saves on 35 Golden Knights shots. The netminder is 1-2-0 in his previous three games, and during those contests, he registered 71 saves on 82 opponents' shots. For fantasy managers who have Husso rostered, it has been up and down season for the Finnish tender. Saturday, he will be going up against a Flyers team that is 7-3-0 in their last ten contests, but they are coming off a 4-1 loss to Chicago on Wednesday.

Ville Husso Records Third Shutout Of The Campaign

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso picked up his third shutout of the season Wednesday, beating Nashville 3-0 with 26 saves. He became only the third netminder in franchise history to register at least three shutouts prior to his 15th appearance for the team. Wednesday's was only his 13th outing for Detroit, and Husso now has an 8-2-3 record for the season. He's been very strong between the pipes, allowing 2.36 goals per game with a .922 save percentage. The Finnish netminder leads the league in shutouts, but somehow he isn't rostered in 100 percent of Yahoo leagues. Get him while you can!

Ville Husso Earns Win Saturday

Detroit Red Wings netminder Ville Husso logged his second shutout of the season, beating the New York Islanders 3-0 Saturday. Husso stopped 24 Islanders shots in the win. He's sporting a 5-1-1 record, winning his last three starts. In those three starts, he's allowed just two goals. The Helsinki, Finland native helped his team snap New York's three-game winning streak. Detroit has won two games in a row and found the quality starter they have been looking for in Ville Husso.

Ville Husso Continues To Dominate With Shutout Of Islanders

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso posted a 24-save shutout Saturday to secure his team a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders. Husso has been exceptional this season, and things were no different this afternoon. He now has a .941 save percentage, 1.86 GAA, and 5.7 GSAA in his seven games. The 27-year-old tendy has taken the crease from fellow Red Wings goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, who has been disappointing this season. At this point, Husso is a must-roster goalie in any fantasy league, as he is the clear starter for a surprisingly good Red Wings team.

Ville Husso Gets Opening Night Start

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso will start their season opener Friday against the Montreal Canadiens. It should be noted that Alex Nedeljkovic has been confirmed for the back end of their back-to-back games Saturday against New Jersey. Still, giving Husso the opener likely means he has a leg up in this goalie tandem. Last year, Husso was rock solid for the St. Louis Blues, posting a 25-7-6 record with a .919 SV% and 2.56 GAA (15.0 GSAA) over 40 games. Nedeljkovic, on the other hand, posted a 20-24-9 record with a .901 SV% and 3.31 GAA (-11.0 GSAA) over 59 games. Although they are likely to split starts early in the season, it seems Husso is the goalie to have in this tandem, at least for now.

Ville Husso Starts Game 4 For Blues

St. Louis Blues goaltender Ville Husso will be between the pipes in Monday's Game 4 against Colorado. The Finnish netminder is taking over from Jordan Binnington (lower body), who has been ruled out for the rest of the series after getting injured in Saturday's Game 3. Husso started the postseason as St. Louis' No. 1 and had a great Stanley Cup Playoffs debut with a 37-save shutout against Minnesota, but he went on to allow nine goals in two starts before Binnington replaced him. Husso also made an appearance Saturday night and that didn't go well either as he gave up four goals on 23 shots. The Blues badly need him to regain his regular-season form, which resulted in Husso going 25-7-6 in 38 starts. Charlie Lindgren has been recalled from the AHL to be Husso's backup.
