Adam Mazur Promoted, Set to Start Thursday

Miami Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur was promoted to the majors Wednesday afternoon and is expected to start on Thursday against the Mets. Mazur has been unspectacular in 107.1 innings at Triple-A Jacksonville this season, holding a 4.36 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 15.6% K-BB%. He made one spot start with Miami back in June and allowed four runs and four walks in 5.2 innings. For his career in the majors, he's started nine games and has a 7.32 ERA with a 1.78 WHIP in 39.1 innings. The 24-year-old's best offering is his slider, which he has leaned into more this year. His struggles pop up most often against opposite-handed hitters, with a 1.46 WHIP against lefties versus 1.19 to righties. The profile isn't overly exciting for fantasy outside of deep leagues and NL-only formats.

Adam Mazur Sharp in Return to Triple-A

Miami Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur was sharp in his return to Triple-A on Tuesday evening. Mazur was promoted to make his season debut in Miami on June 18 against the Phillies. In this outing, Mazur allowed four runs and five hits across 5 2/3 innings. However, the right-hander looked rather impressive in his return to Jacksonville. Facing Nashville, Mazur tossed six shutout innings. He allowed four hits and no walks. He struck out six. After struggling at the Triple-A level last summer, the No. 12-ranked prospect in the system has begun to take a significant step forward. Through 65 2/3 innings, Mazur has struck out 61 batters while holding a 3.29 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect him to be in the mix to return to Miami in the second half.

Adam Mazur Called Up to Start This Week

The Miami Marlins have recalled right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur from Triple-A Jacksonville in order to make a potential spot start during the team's current homestand, according to Sports Grid's Craig Mish. Mazur, the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is most likely to make the start on Wednesday in a tough matchup against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies, although nothing is official. The 24-year-old former second-rounder by the San Diego Padres in 2022 out of Iowa has gone 3-4 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 55 strikeouts and 16 walks in 59 2/3 innings over his 12 outings (11 starts) for Jacksonville this year. If Mazur handles himself well in his big-league debut for the Fish, he could be in line for more starts before the All-Star break. Mazur had a rough big-league debut with SD last year, but he has some of the best command and control among pitching prospects.

Adam Mazur Fans Eight in Win on Thursday

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur picked up the win against Triple-A Durham, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out eight and filled up the zone, throwing 53 of his 81 pitches for strikes. It's been a tale of two months so far in 2025 for the right-hander with drastically different numbers comparing April to May. In April, he posted a 1.44 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and a 24:3 K:BB in 25 innings. Conversely, he fell off to a 5.63 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and a 14:11 K:BB in 24 innings in May. Mazur is not going to hold a high strikeout rate, but offsets it with solid command. He spent time in the majors last season with San Diego with poor results, but could be called upon to fill a spot in the Miami rotation if an injury pops up. He would likely be viewed as a low-upside streamer.

Adam Mazur Strikes Out Five In Latest Outing

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur continued his strong start to the campaign on Sunday afternoon. In this outing, Mazur logged four 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out five batters and allowed just two hits. Since allowing two runs in his first start of the season, Mazur has logged nine 1/3 shutout frames. During these two starts, he has struck out 10 batters and allowed just five hits and one walk. This is a great sign for Mazur as he struggled to find much success at the Triple-A level last summer. Across 61 innings split between El Paso and Jacksonville, Mazur held a high 6.20 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. During this stint, he struck out just 60 batters. He also received a brief taste of the majors last season, but posted a 7.49 ERA. He should be in the mix to join the Miami rotation later this season.

Adam Mazur Earns First Victory Of Triple-A Regular Season

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur tossed five shutout innings on Tuesday en route to earning his first victory of the campaign. He allowed just three hits and a walk. He struck out five batters. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Mazur as he allowed two runs and two hits across five innings in his start of the regular season. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut last summer with the San Diego Padres and held a 7.49 ERA with a 1.81 WHIP across 33 2/3 innings of work. Across this stint, he struggled to control his pitches as he served up 21 free passes. He struggled at the Triple-A level last summer as well, posting a 6.20 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with Jacksonville, as he could be in the mix to return to the majors later in this summer.

Adam Mazur To Begin Season With Triple-A

Miami Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur was sent to Triple-A Jacksonville. The former second-round selection was competing for a spot in the starting rotation, but instead the team will opt to have him continue his development in the minor leagues. Last season, Mazur was dealt to the Marlins at the trade deadline in a package that sent Tanner Scott to San Diego. During his first 33 2/3 innings in the major leagues, Mazur posted a hefty 7.49 ERA with a 1.81 WHIP. He tallied just 22 punchouts and served up 21 free passes. Last summer in Triple-A, Mazuer logged 61 cumulative innings and posted a 6.20 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. However, he showed elite command, serving up just 13 walks and tallied 60 punchouts. He should contend for an early return to the majors if he performs well with Triple-A.

Adam Mazur Dazzles On Wednesday Evening

Miami Marlins starting pitching prospect Adam Mazur logged another stellar outing on Wednesday evening. He tossed seven innings of one-run ball with just two hits and no free passes. He struck out a season-high nine batters. This was his second straight quality start and a great sign for the 23-year-old as he posted a hefty 6.92 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP in his previous three outings before this stretch. The Iowa product got a brief look at the major leagues this season when he was still on the Padres and held a 7.49 ERA and a 1.81 WHIP through his first 33 frames. However, since joining the Marlins organization, Mazur has held a much-improved 3.81 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP at Triple-A. The right-hander remains a name to keep an eye on in deeper leagues, as he may earn a late-season promotion to the big leagues.

Adam Mazur Named International League Pitcher Of The Week

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur earned International League Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance this past week for the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Mazur pitched six shutout innings allowing just one hit with no walks and four strikeouts in his latest outing. Since joining Jacksonville, Mazur, the Marlins' No. 12 prospect, is 1-1 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in four starts. In 19 innings pitched with the Jumbo Shrimp, he has 15 strikeouts with just two walks. Mazur made eight starts for the Padres this season before he was traded to Miami. He pitched to a 7.49 ERA in the majors this season and could get another look with Miami when rosters expand in September.

Adam Mazur Sent To The Marlins

The Miami Marlins acquired right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday in part of the package that sent left-handed closer Tanner Scott to the Friars. In addition to Mazur, the Fish landed pitcher Robby Snelling, infielder Graham Pauley and second baseman Jay Beshears. Mazur checked in as SD's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and made his first eight major-league starts this year before the trade. The former second-round pick in 2022 out of Iowa has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues, going 1-3 with a 7.49 ERA (6.22 FIP) and 1.81 WHIP with a 22:21 K:BB in 33 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old also got hit around in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League before his call-up. It remains to be seen if the Marlins will continue letting him face big-league pitchers the rest of this year, but Mazur could certainly benefit from some more development on the farm.
