Serna will take the roster spot of infielder Xavier Edwards (thumb), who landed on the 10-day injured list. Javier Sanoja made the start at the keystone for Miami in Monday's series finale against the division-rival Washington Nationals, but Serna could get some run at second base as well until Edwards is ready to return. The 24-year-old Mexican native gets the call to the big leagues after slashing .221/.303/.378 with a .681 OPS, 12 home runs, 48 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and 40 runs scored across 91 games and 336 plate appearances with the Jumbo Shrimp. Serna is not considered a top-30 prospect for the Fish at MLB Pipeline, and although his power/speed numbers have been impressive at Triple-A in 2026, his struggles making contact could really be exposed at the major-league level if he sees enough playing time. Only fantasy managers in deep NL-only leagues should be looking at Serna as a potential waiver-wire pickup for short-term middle-infield depth.

Serna has slotted in as the No. 11 prospect in the Marlins' system and wasted little time making his presence felt for his new organization. The 22-year-old has 13 homers and 12 steals this season and has a 50-grade hit tool with 50-grade speed. That's a good combination for fantasy purposes, so Serna is definitely worth keeping an eye on for fantasy managers.

The Yankees currently have shortstop Anthony Volpe signed up for shortstop for years to come, but Serna is more fit for second base with his small frame in general. He is a name for dynasty managers to throw on the watch-list and monitor, but can be avoided otherwise for now.

Following this big performance, the 21-year-old has an overall .231/.351/.474 with five home runs, 17 RBI, and one stolen base across 21 games at High-A. Serna also has a strong 15:10 BB:K ratio. It is very promising to see Serna display his power potential, as he did not tally one home run in 27 games at the High-A level last season. Serna could reach Double-A by the end of the summer if he continues this trajectory, and he is worth keeping an eye on in dynasty formats.
