Agustin Ramirez Still a Top Stash Option with Five-Category Upside?

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez remains an intriguing stash candidate despite an underwhelming sophomore campaign. The 24-year-old is slashing .230/.318/.345 with a .663 OPS, but his underlying metrics continue to point toward untapped offensive upside. Ramirez owns a 116.9 mph max exit velocity, which ranks in the 98th percentile across Major League Baseball. He also posted an 11.0 Barrel% during the 2025 season, highlighting his ability to consistently make contact while generating above-average power. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should consider stashing Ramirez now before his bat starts to heat up.

Agustin Ramirez Still Worth Stashing?

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez hit only .231 (124-for-537) in 136 games and 585 plate appearances in his rookie season in the big leagues with the Fish in 2025, but he added an impressive 21 home runs, 67 RBI, and 16 stolen bases. Fantasy managers were justifiably excited about Ramirez's prospects in his sophomore campaign, but he was sent to Triple-A Jacksonville after going 26-for-113 (.230) with two homers, 14 RBI, 13 walks, and 28 strikeouts across 31 games, and he has yet to return to the Show. The 24-year-old Dominican backstop has slashed .250/.327/.453 with seven home runs, 24 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and 26 runs scored in 40 games in 2026 with the Jumbo Shrimp. There is still plenty of power and speed upside with Ramirez, but the Marlins aren't forcing his return to the majors with Liam Hicks and Joe Mack holding down the catching spot just fine right now. The Marlins want Ramirez to improve his work behind the plate before he gets another shot at the big-league level. It seems like a reasonable bet that he'll be back with the Fish at some point in the second half, but fantasy managers may be running out of patience. Ramirez is rostered in 34% of Yahoo leagues currently.

Agustin Ramirez a Top Stash Candidate Ahead of Looming Return?

After posting a .653 OPS across his first 129 plate appearances of the season, Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville in early May. Since his demotion, Ramirez has shown off his five-category upside, hitting .240/.309/.424 with six home runs, 17 RBI, 21 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases across 139 plate appearances. The 24-year-old also proved he can produce at the big-league level in 2025, hitting 21 home runs and stealing 16 bases across 585 plate appearances. Defense is the big question mark for Ramirez, who graded out as one of the worst defensive catchers in baseball last season. Still, Miami recently placed catcher/designated hitter Liam Hicks (back) on the 10-day injured list, which could be the opportunity Ramirez needs to get back to the Majors. Fantasy managers in need of upside at the catcher position may want to consider stashing Ramirez ahead of his impending return.

Agustin Ramirez Showcasing Five-Category Profile, Worth Stashing?

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez is rostered in 35% of Yahoo leagues for a reason. The 24-year-old Dominican right-handed hitter has only appeared in 31 games (129 plate appearances) for the Marlins this year, hitting .230/.318/.345 with a .663 OPS, two home runs, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored, and three stolen bases. He teased his five-category upside in 136 games in his rookie season in 2025 by hitting .231/.287/.413 with a .701 OPS, 21 home runs, 67 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and 72 runs scored in 136 games across 585 plate appearances. In 29 games at Triple-A Jacksonville in 2026, Ramirez has slashed .237/.302/.412 with a .714 OPS, five home runs, five doubles, 13 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and 19 runs scored in 126 plate appearances for the Jumbo Shrimp. Liam Hicks and Joe Mack have been handling the catching duties in South Beach since Ramirez was sent down in early May. If Ramirez can clean up his defense behind the dish, he could be back in the big leagues sooner rather than later. And when he's back, he definitely can offer five-category upside for fantasy managers at the catching position.

Is Agustin Ramirez a Top Stash Candidate with Five-Category Potential?

After getting off to a slow start to the 2026 season, Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville in early May. The 24-year-old has performed well since being sent down, hitting .255/.324/.426 with four home runs, 12 RBI, 16 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. Ramirez's speed is rare relative to his position and gives him significant fantasy upside. The young backstop also showed he can produce at the big-league level in 2025, hitting .231 with 21 home runs and 16 stolen bases across 585 plate appearances. The biggest issue in Ramirez's profile is his porous defense, which was likely the reason why he was sent down earlier this year. Still, Ramirez carries enough offensive upside that Miami seems likely to find a place for him in the lineup sooner rather than later. Fantasy managers in need of help behind the plate should consider stashing Ramirez off the waiver wire.

Agustin Ramirez Flashing Five-Category Upside at Triple-A, Emerging as Must-Stash Catcher?

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez continues to swing a hot bat since being sent down to Triple-A, and the bat isn't his only strength. He has also flashed decent power and speed while showcasing above-average defensive skills. Across 16 games at Triple-A this year, Ramirez is slashing .317/.400/.567 with four home runs, five steals, a 10.0% walk rate, a 20.0% strikeout rate, and 154 wRC+. His stats in the majors weren't atrocious, either, as he posted a .663 OPS and 88 wRC+. Defensively, Ramirez has thrown out five of 18 base-stealers for a 27.8% caught stealing rate. It seems like Ramirez will be called back up to the majors soon, and when he does, he could have some immediate fantasy appeal. He's worth stashing ahead of his anticipated promotion. Managers should act fast, because he's rostered in 39% of leagues now, and that percentage will increase going forward.

Agustin Ramirez Worth Stashing Ahead of Potential Return?

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez has emerged as a base-stealing threat at Triple-A, making him an intriguing fantasy stash ahead of his eventual return to the majors. Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A on May 4 after slashing .230/.318/.345 with two homers, three steals, and 87 wRC+ in the majors. His slash line in Jacksonville isn't any better (.206/.270/.235), and he's striking out more (27.0%) with a lower walk rate (5.4%). With that being said, he has shown glimpses of impressive speed, stealing four bases in just eight games. We fully expect to see Ramirez back in the majors this year, so his ability to steal bases could be enough to get him back on the fantasy radar, especially at the catcher position, where speed can be hard to come by.

Marlins Demote Agustin Ramirez to Triple-A

The Miami Marlins have demoted catcher Agustin Ramirez to Triple-A Jacksonville, according to Craig Mish. Ramirez had a slow start to his first full season in the big leagues and will head to the top level of the minor leagues to work out his struggles. Over the first 31 games of the campaign, Ramirez has held a .230/.318/.345 slash line with five doubles and two home runs. He has posted a solid 22.4% K% while drawing walks at an above-average 10.4% rate. However, Ramirez has generated a weak .288 xwOBA with a low .318 xSLG. Last summer in his debut campaign, Ramirez hit 21 home runs while swiping 16 bags over 136 MLB contests. In a corresponding move, the Marlins are promoting top catching prospect Joe Mack. Mack will likely serve as the team's No. 2 behind Liam Hicks behind the dish and is worth adding in all two-catcher formats.

Agustin Ramirez Continues Struggling with the Bat

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez hasn't been able to find much success at the plate recently. Over the last two weeks, Ramirez is 8-for-40 at the plate with one home run and three RBI. It has been an ugly stretch of play with Ramirez posting a .581 OPS over the last two weeks. Liam Hicks has been tearing the cover off the ball over the last week and could start seeing increased playing time with Ramirez struggling. The upside is there with Ramirez, so fantasy managers should continue to hold him and hope for better results.

Agustin Ramirez Working to Improve his Defense

Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez, who is ranked at RotoBaller as the No. 4 fantasy backstop after a strong rookie campaign, is working to improve his defense behind the plate as he heads into his sophomore campaign in 2026, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald. Offensively, Ramirez hit .231 with a .700 OPS, 21 home runs, 33 doubles, 67 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 16 steals over 136 games (71 at catcher). He was the first rookie catcher in MLB history to hit at least 20 homers and steal 15 bases, and just the sixth Marlins player to do it. However, his mark of minus-14 defensive runs saved ranked second-worst among 31 catchers with at least 600 innings caught. He had just an 8.8% caught-stealing rate and 19 passed balls. Ramirez spent time in the offseason working on his mobility, but if he cannot improve defensively, he could become more of a full-time DH with catching prospect Joe Mack right behind him. For his bat alone, though, Ramirez is very attractive in fantasy in 2026.
