Kyle Stowers Doing Baseball Activities, to Start Running Progression Soon

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) took 30 swings and played catch in camp on Sunday, according to Christina De Nicola. Stowers will take some live at-bats in the next few days and will also start a running progression soon as he continues to recover from a mild right-hamstring strain. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter is expected to be back in Grapefruit League action in one to two weeks, and he should be ready for Opening Day at the end of the month, barring a setback. Stowers is a rising fantasy outfielder -- he's ranked at No. 33 at RotoBaller -- after a breakout 2025 campaign in his first full season in Miami. He was the team's lone All-Star representative and finished his fourth MLB season with a .288/.368/.544 slash line, .912 OPS, 25 homers, 73 RBI, 61 runs, and five stolen bases in 457 plate appearances and 117 games. Stowers' batted-ball metrics are promising, but injuries could be an issue.

Kyle Stowers is Dealing with Minor Hamstring Strain

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) underwent imaging after being scratched ahead of Saturday's game. The MRI has revealed that Stowers has suffered a minor hamstring strain. This sounds like a good diagnosis as far as hamstring injuries go. The Marlins expect Stowers to miss 1-2 weeks of action. Barring any setbacks, Stowers should be ready to go by the beginning of the regular season. The 28-year-old is coming off a breakout campaign with the Marlins last season. Stowers slashed .288/.386/.544 with 25 home runs and 73 RBI in 117 games. Assuming he's healthy to begin the season, Stowers should offer top-30 fantasy outfielder value.

Kyle Stowers Scratched With Hamstring Tightness

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) has been scratched from the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Saturday due to hamstring tightness, and he will undergo imaging, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Until we know more about the severity of Stowers' hamstring injury, he'll be considered day-to-day. If the 28-year-old suffered a strained hammy, his availability for Opening Day in late March could be in jeopardy. The left-handed-hitting outfielder broke out in 2025 and was an All-Star for the first time in his career in his fourth year in the league, slashing .288/.368/.544 with a .912 OPS, 25 home runs, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 457 plate appearances over 117 games played. Stowers has dealt with injuries in the past and has also struggled at times to make contact, but his batted-ball metrics show a hitter on the rise. As long as his injury doesn't cause him to miss significant time to begin the 2026 season, Stowers is a fine No. 3 outfield target in fantasy drafts.

Kyle Stowers Looks to Build on his 2025 Breakthrough

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers got his first extended look at major-league pitching last season, and the 28-year-old lefty established himself as one of the best emerging power options in the league. He smashed 25 homers in his 117 games while hitting a very solid .288 with a stellar .386 wOBA and 149 wRC+. Stowers hard-hit metrics have been good in the past, but his barrel rate jumped from 10.9% in 2024 all the way to 19.0% in 2025. That barrel rate placed him in the 98th percentile, and his hard-hit rate also fell in the top 10% of the MLB. He crushed right-handed pitching and should be back to play a key role in the Marlins' young, progressing lineup this season. He's a good power option to target in fantasy baseball drafts this season and should remain in a prominent role in Miami. He was shut down at the end of the year with an oblique injury, but should start spring training fully healthy.

Marlins, Kyle Stowers Not Close on Contract Extension

The Miami Marlins had contract-extension talks with outfielder Kyle Stowers earlier this offseason, but the two sides were far apart in compensation, and talks have ceased, industry sources told Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic. Stowers was the team's lone All-Star in 2025 in what was a breakout season for him. He led the Marlins with a 4.0 fWAR and hit 25 home runs with a .288/.386/.544 slash line and 149 wRC+ before his season ended prematurely in mid-August due to an oblique strain. It's believed that Stowers is seeking a deal around $100 million. The 27-year-old isn't arbitration eligible until 2027 and won't be a free agent until 2030. The Marlins prefer a contract more in line with the eight-year, $50 million deal that Ceddanne Rafaela signed with Boston in April. It's unclear if the Marlins and Stowers will reopen extension talks at some point this winter.

Kyle Stowers Dealing With Strained Side

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (oblique) has been shut down after suffering a setback during his minor-league rehab assignment. Stowers underwent additional imaging after dealing with some general soreness over the weekend. It has been announced that Stowers suffered a strained right side during a rehab game. The hope was that Stowers could return this week, but that seems unlikely now. The Marlins haven't given another timetable on his return, but it wouldn't be shocking to see Stowers be done for the season. The Marlins season isn't going anywhere, so they have little incentive to rush Stowers back to the field. For now, fantasy managers can continue to hold Stowers on their IR until the Marlins give an official timeframe on his return.

Kyle Stowers Suffers Setback on Rehab Assignment?

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (oblique) has returned to Miami to be re-evaluated on Monday after he was unable to play for Triple-A Jacksonville on his minor-league rehab assignment the last two days, according to Isaac Izaout of Fish On First. Stowers started his rehab assignment with the Jumbo Shrimp on Friday night but was held out on Saturday and Sunday due to fatigue after going 0-for-3 as the designated hitter. The 27-year-old breakout star has been on the 10-day injured list since the middle of August, and it's unclear if he's had a setback with his strained oblique or if he's dealing with another issue, but his availability for the remainder of the 2025 season is now firmly in question. For the time being, Joey Wiemer should continue to see most of the playing time in right field in Miami, with Victor Mesa Jr. also being an option for more starts in the outfield. UPDATE: Stower underwent imaging on his side on Monday.

Kyle Stowers to Begin Rehab Assignment on Friday

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Isaac Azout of Fish on First reports. Stowers has been on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 strain of his left oblique since Aug. 17, but he could return to the Marlins sometime in the next week. That's welcome news for fantasy managers, as the 27-year-old has unexpectedly broken out this season. Stowers earned a place on the National League All-Star team and has slashed .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 117 games and 457 plate appearances.

Kyle Stowers to Begin Baseball Activities Wednesday

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (oblique) is set to begin baseball activities on Wednesday. The breakout star has been shelved since Aug. 17 with a Grade 1 strain of his left oblique, but he's on track to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. If all goes well, he should rejoin the Marlins sometime next week. The injury put an early end to the worst month of the season for Stowers, who hit .228/.308/.386 with two home runs over 15 games in August. The 27-year-old has thrived overall, having slashed .288/.368/.544 with 25 homers, 73 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 457 plate appearances.

Kyle Stowers Heads to Injured List With Left-Side Strain

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (side) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Stowers was reportedly held out on Saturday as a precaution, but manager Clayton McCullough announced he's going to the shelf due to a Grade 1 left side strain. This is the type of injury that is going to take several weeks to heal. That being said, Stowers might not be back until possibly mid-September. That's a tough blow to the Marlins lineup considering Stowers breakout campaign. For now, fantasy managers should stash Stowers on their IR until more news is known. Heriberto Hernandez started in left field on Saturday. Also, outfielder Joey Wiemer was recalled to take over Stowers' spot on the active roster.
