Jakob Marsee Up To 18 Steals At Triple-A

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases on Thursday for Triple-A Jacksonville. The 23-year-old has now hit safely in nine of the last 11 games, going 12-for-37 (.324) over that stretch, slashing .240/.412/.427 on the year. A strong walk rate of 17.0 percent has provided that elite OBP, which has in turn allowed him to unleash his stolen base prowess, now with 18 after Thursday's game, which is the most in Triple-A by far. Fantasy managers in NL-only leagues that are in need of steals should keep an eye out for a promotion in the coming months, as the former Arizona Fall League MVP could provide a boost as soon as he arrives.

Jakob Marsee Tallies League-Leading 12th Stolen Base On Wednesday

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee has run wild on the basepaths early on for Triple-A Jacksonville. Despite going 0-for-3 on Wednesday, the 23-year-old managed to steal two bases, swiping both second base and third base after he was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. Even though the left-handed hitter is batting a paltry .156 on the young season, nine walks have helped him to a .386 OBP, which has enabled him to utilize his elite speed, now with 12 stolen bases through the season's first 10 games. He hit .200 last season and still stole 51 bags, so this is nothing new, but if he could get the bat going, he would be an even greater threat on the basepaths. He won the 2023 Arizona Fall League MVP award after slashing .391/.508/.707 in 24 games as a 22-year-old, so the hit tool is in there somewhere. According to MLB.com's Top Prospects list, which has Marsee as the Marlins' 24th-ranked prospect, he's expected to make his major league debut in 2025. Managers in very deep and NL-only leagues that are in need of steals may want to keep an eye on him for when he gets the call.

Jakob Marsee Showing Elite Speed At Triple-A

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee has swiped four bags across the first four contests of the Triple-A regular season. While he has only tallied one hit across these games, Marsee has drawn five walks (.368 OBP) and made a significant impact on the basepaths. After not swiping a bag in the season opener, Marsee stole at least one in his past three games and posted a two-steal performance on Tuesday evening. Marsee is considered the No. 24 prospect in the Miami system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent most of his time at the Double-A level but finished the season at Triple-A. Across 115 total contests, Marsee swiped an impressive 44 bags while posting a modest .185 AVG but having a solid .341 OBP. If Marsee is able to develop his bat, he could become a prospect to monitor, given his elite speed. His upside is limited for now, as he relies heavily on his eye to reach first base.

Jakob Marsee Reassigned To Minor-League Camp

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee (oblique) has been reassigned to minor league camp as part of Miami's first round of roster cuts this spring. The 23-year-old was a non-roster invitee this spring but had been battling an oblique strain sustained in mid-February and had yet to make a Grapefruit League appearance. The 2022 sixth-round draft pick has quickly worked through the minors, earning the Arizona Fall League MVP in 2023, then moving from Double-A to Triple-A in 2024, and will likely make his MLB debut this season. For now, however, the left-handed hitter will likely begin the year at Triple-A. Marsee put together a .200-10-47-90-51 line over 137 minor league games across two levels last year, but showed well at Triple-A with a .275/.370/.363 slash line over 22 games, with the OBP buoyed by superb plate discipline. The product out of Central Michigan University owns an elite 16.9 percent walk rate over his minor league career, allowing him to get on base and utilize his ability to steal bases. Unless desperate for steals, though, fantasy managers may want to take a wait-and-see approach with Marsee whenever he gets the call to the majors, and he's off the season-long fantasy draft radar.

Jakob Marsee Resumes Baseball Activities

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee (oblique) has resumed baseball activities. The former sixth-round selection of the 2022 MLB Draft sustained a minor oblique injury during camp but is slowly nearing a return to game action. Last season, the 23-year-old spent most of his campaign at the Double-A level but did earn a late-season taste of Triple-A. Across 115 contests at Double-A with San Antonio and Pensacola, Marsee held a .188/.341/.306 slash line with 14 doubles, nine home runs, and an impressive 44 stolen bases. He held an 80:115 BB:K. Through his first 22 games at the Triple-A level, the Central Michigan product posted a .275/.370/.363 line with four doubles and seven home runs. He held a strong 12:20 BB:K. Marsee could contend for an early 2025 MLB debut when he's cleared to return.

Jakob Marsee Battling Oblique Strain

MLB.com's Christina De Nicola reports that Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee (oblique) is in a rehab progression at spring training as he deals with a lower level right-oblique strain. Oblique injuries can be tricky, but the good news is that Marsee's doesn't appear to be very serious. Still, the 23-year-old could be held out of Grapefruit League games initially as a precaution. He was one of the pieces the Marlins acquired from the San Diego Padres last May in the trade involving infielder Luis Arraez. Entering the 2025 season, Marsee is expected to open the year at Triple-A Jacksonville and serve as minor-league outfield depth. The former sixth-round selection of the Padres in 2022 out of Central Michigan University hit a combined .200/.345/.316 with 10 homers, 47 RBI and 51 stolen bases in 137 games with Double-A Pensacola, Double-A San Antonio and Jacksonville.

Jakob Marsee Hits Grand Slam, Drives In Six

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and tallied six RBI for Double-A Pensacola on Wednesday. It was a bright spot in what has been a somewhat disappointing season so far. After winning Arizona Fall League MVP honors in 2023, Marsee was looking to take a step forward in 2024 but is hitting a meager .188 over 91 games. Despite the poor batting average, the 23-year-old has still shown an impressive eye at the plate, collecting 16 walks in July alone and sporting a strong .343 OBP on the season. His penchant for getting on base via the walk has helped buoy his stolen base total of 39 on the season. Hopefully Wednesday's game is a sign of things to come and allow him to start earning a promotion to Triple-A either this season or next.

Jakob Marsee Continues To Struggle In Double-A

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee has been having a tough season in Double-A. Marsee, the club's No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was acquired from the San Diego Padres as part of the Luis Arraez deal earlier this season, but no matter the affiliation, he has struggled this season. Between both club's and their Double-A affiliations this season, Marsee has hit a combined .182 with five homers, 13 RBI and 23 stolen bases. Marsee has a very patient eye at the plate which leads to good contact, but he doesn't offer much power. At the present time, Marsee is best served as a watch-list candidate in dynasty leagues with MLB Pipeline estimating him to reach the big leagues in 2025.

Jakob Marsee Posts First Three-Hit Game Of The Season

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee posted his first three-hit game of the season on Thursday evening as he tallied one double and two singles to lead Double-A Pensacola to a victory. Since being traded to Miami as part of the Luis Arraez package, Marsee has posted a strong .259/.500/.444 slash line with one long ball and a 12:6 BB:K ratio. This is a significant improvement as he posted a mere .176/.336/.318 line through 24 games with Double-A San Antonio to open the season. Marsee could push for a promotion to Triple-A if he continues this hot stretch, which could open the door for a late-season major league debut. For now, he should remain on your waiver wire in dynasty leagues, but is worth monitoring as the season progresses.

Jakob Marsee Hits First Home Run With New Club

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee hit his first home run in the Miami system on Friday evening. Marsee was included in the package that sent Luis Arraez to San Diego on May 3. Across 28 games at Double-A this season, with both the San Diego and Miami affiliates, he has a .177/.360/.333 line with three home runs and a strong 26:27 BB:K ratio. However, the 22-year-old has been showcasing his power potential in May with two long balls and a .529 SLG. Marsee is ranked as the tenth overall prospect in the Miami system and could see time in the Triple-A later this summer, which opens the door for a potential 2025 major league debut.
