Jakob Marsee Returns From Knee Injury on Tuesday

Miami Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee (knee) is starting in center field and is batting seventh for the Fish on Tuesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners and right-hander Bryan Woo, according to MLB.com. The Marlins pulled Marsee from Sunday's game early against the Athletics after he suffered a right-knee contusion, but he's back in action following Monday's scheduled day off. After getting a small taste of big-league pitching for the first time in 55 contests in 2025, Marsee has struggled at the plate in 88 games and 367 plate appearances so far in 2026, slashing .192/.316/.296 with a .612 OPS, five home runs, 22 RBI, 18 stolen bases, and 45 runs scored. The 25-year-old former sixth-round pick by the San Diego Padres in 2022 out of Central Michigan University has definitely been active on the base paths, as he's been caught stealing a league-leading 10 times. Despite his slow start, Marsee has clear power/speed upside, which is why he's rostered in over half of Yahoo leagues despite his inexperience.

Jakob Marsee's X-Rays Come Back Negative After Knee Scare

Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee (knee) was removed early from Sunday's game against the Athletics after taking a 97 mph fastball off the kneecap. He stayed in the game long enough to complete a trip around the bases before exiting in the following half-inning. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative, and the 25-year-old is currently considered day-to-day. Marsee has struggled to find consistent production this season, slashing .192/.316/.296 across 88 games after posting an .841 OPS in 55 games during his breakout rookie campaign in 2025. He has already shown offensive upside at the major league level, and a short reset could help him regain the form that made him an intriguing fantasy option last season.

After Brutal Start, Jakob Marsee Showing Signs of Life at the Plate

Miami Marlins outfielder Jakob Marsee has been a fantasy disappointment in the early going of 2026 after a breakout 2025. The left-handed hitter slashed .292/.363/.478 with five home runs and 14 steals in 55 games after his promotion to the big leagues last year, but so far in 2026, he's slashing just .184/.304/.272 through 30 games. On the bright side, the former sixth-round draft pick has continued to get on base thanks to a strong 13.2 percent walk rate, which has in turn allowed him to leverage his baserunning abilities, swiping 10 bags already, which is tied for fourth-most in the majors. There have also been signs he could be breaking out of his slump, going 8-for-27 (.296) over his last seven contests, with three of his six extra-base hits coming during that stretch (two doubles, one home run). Though not known for exit velocities (EV), the 24-year-old had an average EV of 87.0 mph earlier in the year, but it has popped up to 91.6 in this recent seven-game turnaround, so he could be locking in. If he can get going, fantasy managers will once again have a multi-category contributor on their hands, so patience is warranted with Marsee.

Marlins Have Approached Jakob Marsee About Contract Extension

The Miami Marlins have approached young outfielder Jakob Marsee on a potential contract extension. Marsee made his MLB debut last summer and looked quite comfortable during his first taste of the major leagues. Through 55 contests, the 24-year-old held a .292/.363/.478 slash line with five long balls and 14 stolen bases. Under the hood, he generated a promising .347 xwOBA and .275 xBA, with a 38.9% LA sweet-spot rate. He also drew walks at an above-average 9.4% rate and struck out at a 20.5% rate. Across 98 games at Triple-A Jacksonville prior to this promotion, Marsee held a .246/.379/.438 line with 14 home runs and 47 stolen bases. Given that the Marlins have already begun pursuing long-term decisions with Marsee, it suggests they view him as a vital piece of the franchise. Managers should expect Marsee to see everyday opportunities in the center field to begin the 2026 campaign. He carries high-end breakout appeal in category formats, given his potential to steal bases at a high rate.

Will the Marlins Extend Jakob Marsee?

There is mutual interest in a potential extension for Jakob Marsee and the Miami Marlins, but no formal offer has been made, according to Isaac Azout from Fish On First. The 24-year-old burst onto the scene last year, slashing .292/.363/.478 with five home runs, 33 RBI, 28 runs, 14 stolen bases, and a 133 wRC+ in 234 plate appearances. The young outfielder also showed good plate discipline, posting a 9.4 BB% to a 20.5 K%. For 2026, the speedy lefty is expected to steal between 30-40 bases while putting up 10-15 home runs at the top of Miami's batting order. At his current 152 ADP, he is a safe bet for steals with enough on-base skills and emerging pop to return profit even without a major breakout.

Jakob Marsee Not Slowing Down in Major Leagues

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee has continued his dominant stretch in the major leagues. Over his last 11 games in Miami, the 24-year-old has posted a stellar .324/.383/.591 slash line with three doubles, two triples, one home run, and two stolen bases. During this impressive run, Marsee tallied 11 RBI and scored six runs. Through 27 total games in the big leagues, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the system has held a .358/.421/.653 line with four home runs and eight stolen bases. Marsee has generated a stellar .397 xwOBA and a 47.9% LA sweet-spot rate, which suggests he should continue to stay productive in the batter's box. Earlier this season, Marsee held a much lower .817 OPS through 98 games at Triple-A. Given his impressive debut in the big leagues, fantasy managers should continue to view Marsee as a must-start outfielder in all leagues.

Jakob Marsee Homers Twice in Seven-RBI Night

Miami Marlins rookie outfielder Jakob Marsee continued an incredible start to his career with his best performance yet in a 13-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. Marsee finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBI, and a stolen base. The 24-year-old launched a three-run homer in the first and added a two-run blast in the fifth. Since debuting on Aug. 1, Marsee has slashed an absurd .436/.542/.672 with three HRs, 13 RBI, eight runs scored, six steals, and 9:9 K:BB in a 13-game, 48-plate appearance span. He's the first player in league history to collect 10 or more extra-base hits and steal six-plus bases in his first 13 games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. As Miami's eighth-ranked prospect at MLB Pipeline, Marsee didn't reach the majors with a ton of hype, which makes his career-opening outburst all the more remarkable.

Jakob Marsee Heading to Big Leagues

According to Robert Murray, outfielder Jakob Marsee is being called up by the Miami Marlins on Friday. The Marlins traded Jesus Sanchez on Thursday, which opened up a spot for Marsee on the big league roster. The 24-year-old was traded to Miami in the deal that sent Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres. This season, Marsee is slashing .246/.379/.438 with 14 home runs, 37 RBI, and 47 steals in 98 games in Triple-A. He'll likely only be a platoon option, so his fantasy value figures to be limited right now.

Jakob Marsee Pacing International League in Steals

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee is leading Triple-A's International League with 39 steals. The 24-year-old is getting on base at a .369 clip thanks to a 14.6 percent walk rate, and although the batting average stands at .242, he's been hitting much better as of late. The left-handed hitter went 30-for-76 (.395) in 20 games from June 10 to July 2, before cooling off over the last three games (1-for-12). He's shown these flashes of hot hitting in the past, even winning the 2023 Arizona Fall League MVP, but is a career .238 hitter in the minors, so uses his ability to draw walks to get on base consistently and steal bases, notching 97 steals in 2023 and 2024 combined. This recent hot stretch of hitting could punch his ticket to the majors for a debut soon, but it will be his stolen base acumen that will provide fantasy value when he's finally there.

Jakob Marsee Up To 18 Steals At Triple-A

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Jakob Marsee went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases on Thursday for Triple-A Jacksonville. The 23-year-old has now hit safely in nine of the last 11 games, going 12-for-37 (.324) over that stretch, slashing .240/.412/.427 on the year. A strong walk rate of 17.0 percent has provided that elite OBP, which has in turn allowed him to unleash his stolen base prowess, now with 18 after Thursday's game, which is the most in Triple-A by far. Fantasy managers in NL-only leagues that are in need of steals should keep an eye out for a promotion in the coming months, as the former Arizona Fall League MVP could provide a boost as soon as he arrives.
