Brewers Acquire Janson Junk In Hunter Renfroe Trade

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired pitcher Janson Junk, along with fellow hurlers Elvis Peguero and Adam Seminaris, on Tuesday night in a trade that sent outfielder Hunter Renfroe to the Los Angeles Angels. Junk made three appearances for the Angels last season, two of which were starts. He pitched to a 6.48 ERA and a 3.11 FIP in 8.1 innings. The 26-year-old will give the Brewers some additional pitching depth in 2023, whether it be in the rotation or in the bullpen. Milwaukee's current rotation options include Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, Freddy Peralta, Adrian Houser, Eric Lauer, and Aaron Ashby.

Janson Junk Optioned To Triple-A

Los Angeles Angels reliever Janson Junk has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. The 26-year-old right-hander owns a rough 6.48 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and 11:3 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings (three games, two starts). Reliever Mike Mayers had his contract purchased and will join the Angels' bullpen in a corresponding move.

Janson Junk Strikes Out Five In No-Decision

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Janson Junk (0-1) looked good in Wednesday's start against the Texas Rangers, giving up two runs over 4 2/3 innings. He added five strikeouts, no walks and he surrendered seven hits as the Angels went on to win 7-2. It was just the fourth start of his career and the first time he's had more than two strikeouts in a game. He now owns a 3.86 ERA along with a 14.1 K% and 2.8 BB%, although he's let up five homers in just 16 1/3 innings. Before being promoted on Sept. 3, he was pitching well in Double-A with a 2.81 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 93 innings. He has a chance to stick around in the rotation but has little value in any leagues right now, and he doesn't have enough upside to be stashed in dynasty formats.

Janson Junk Struggles In Four Innings

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Janson Junk (0-1) wasn't a factor in the decision Wednesday night during the 12-inning affair with the Houston Astros. He did struggle, though, pitching four innings, allowing three runs, one walk, two home runs, and he added a strikeout in the eventual 9-5 loss. Junk has only made three starts on the season and has a 3.75 ERA over 12 innings, although with an unimpressive 9.8 K%. Before his call-up, he was pitching well in Double-A with a 2.81 ERA and 97 strikeouts across 93 innings. Fantasy managers should keep him on the waiver wire for the remainder of the season with his low inning totals.

Janson Junk Pitches Well In Win

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Janson Junk (0-1) put up good results in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Chicago White Sox but didn't factor into the decision. He went 4.1 innings while allowing three hits, no walks, and added two strikeouts. The only run he surrendered came from a Yoan Moncada solo shot in the fourth inning. Junk has made two starts now in his brief career and owns a 2.25 ERA with an 11.8 K% and 2.9 BB%, after sporting a 2.81 ERA with 97 strikeouts over 93 Triple-A innings this year. Junk should be left on the waiver wire, as he's thrown just eight innings in his two starts and probably won't go deep into games for the remainder of the season.

Janson Junk Starting On Wednesday

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Janson Junk will start for the team on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox on the road. It'll be just the second career start for the right-hander, who previously started on September 5 against the Texas Rangers. During his outing against the Rangers, Junk allowed six hits, five runs, one walk, and two home runs in 3.2 innings pitched while striking out a pair of batters. Only one of the five runs was earned. Still, you're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming help in the rotation on Wednesday as the 25-year-old will face a White Sox lineup that is tied for second in the league in on-base percentage and ranks seventh in runs scored.

Janson Junk Roughed Up In Debut

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Janson Junk (0-1) didn't have the debut he hoped for, taking the loss in just 3.2 innings against the Texas Rangers on Sunday. He allowed five runs (one earned) on six hits, one walk, two home runs, and picked up a pair of strikeouts. Junk, acquired in the Andrew Heaney trade, had good numbers in Double-A this year, pitching to a 2.81 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 93 innings. He doesn't have much upside, however, ranking 22nd on the Angels top 30 prospect list, according to MLB.com, and should be left alone in every league for now.
