Xavier Edwards Returning on Saturday

Miami Marlins infielder Xavier Edwards (wrist) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. Edwards is returning from being held out of the lineup for six straight games. However, he came in off the bench during Friday's game and went 2-for-3 at the plate. He appears to be fully healthy and ready to contribute again. Edwards will cover second base and bat third against right-hander Jack Leiter on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly and get Edwards back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Xavier Edwards Remains Out on Thursday

Miami Marlins middle infielder Xavier Edwards (wrist) remains sidelined for Thursday's contest against the hosting Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Javier Sanoja will make the start at second base and will hit ninth against Rockies right-hander Tanner Gordon. Right-wrist soreness will keep Edwards out for the fifth straight game. With the regular season winding down with just a week and a half of play left, it's possible we won't see Edwards again this year. The speedy switch-hitter and former first-round pick hasn't been quite as good as he was in 2024, but he's still been serviceable as a regular for Miami, slashing .280/.339/.353 with a .692 OPS, three home runs, 39 RBI, 73 runs scored and 24 stolen bases in a career-high 130 games in his third year in the big leagues. Stolen bases will always be the main fantasy draw with Edwards. Sanjoja will be a weak DFS sleeper, even at Coors Field.

Xavier Edwards Missing Fourth Straight Game

Miami Marlins infielder Xavier Edwards (wrist) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Edwards is now set to miss his fourth game in a row due to a right wrist soreness. He has been sidelined since being scratched ahead of Saturday's contest due to right wrist discomfort. At this point, the Marlins need to consider placing Edwards on the injured list. For now, fantasy managers can consider Edwards as day-to-day. Javier Sanoja will make another start at second base and bat ninth on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Xavier Edwards Scratched With Wrist Discomfort on Saturday

Miami Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards (wrist) has been scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Detroit Tigers because of discomfort in his right wrist, according to Isaac Azout of Fish On First. Edwards had been slated to lead off versus right-hander Charlie Morton. The Marlins haven't released an updated lineup yet. The speedy Edwards has played in 129 games this season and hit .280/.339/.353 with three homers, 39 RBI, a career-high 73 runs scored, and 24 stolen bases over 582 plate appearances. He has gone 7-for-34 (.206) with a homer, five RBI, five runs, and 7:4 K:BB in nine games this month.

Xavier Edwards Gets a Day off

Miami Marlins shortstop Xavier Edwards will head to the bench ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is a rare rest day for Edwards who has started in 13 straight games. His combo of contact and speed makes him a valuable fantasy option despite not having any home runs this season. Otto Lopez will take over at shortstop and bat leadoff against left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Xavier Edwards Getting Saturday Off

Miami Marlins middle infielder Xavier Edwards is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's contest in D.C. against the hosting Washington Nationals. Javier Sanoja will get the start at the keystone and will hit ninth against Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams. After returning from a stint on the injured list, the switching-hitting Edwards has shifted over to second base for the Fish. Since his return on May 31, the 25-year-old has been swinging the bat well, going 14-for-40 (.350) with three doubles, four RBI and six runs scored in 11 games played. Edwards has little power to speak of, but he has 31 stolen bases in 2024 and has 11 on the year through 53 games this year, making him a useful middle infielder in fantasy for his speed. Sanoja will be a desperation DFS play out of the nine-hole for Saturday's action. He's hit .246 (34-for-138) this year with a homer and 14 RBI.

Xavier Edwards Ejected on Friday

Miami Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards had an early exit in the team's 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Home-plate umpire Chad Fairchild ejected Edwards in the third inning after an argument over a runner interference call. Edwards was ruled out after colliding with Rays first baseman Jonathan Aranda while trying to beat out a bunt single. He ended the day 0-for-2, and Miami replaced him at the keystone with Javier Sanoja. Fantasy managers should expect Edwards back in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against Rays righty Taj Bradley. The speedy Edwards is hitting a disappointing .280/.349/.312 with 11 steals in 212 plate appearances this season, though he has gone 7-of-14 in June.

Xavier Edwards Collects Five Hits in Loss

Miami Marlins shortstop Xavier Edwards made his first start since returning from the injured list on Sunday. The San Francisco Giants pitchers had no answers for Edwards during this game. Edwards went 5-for-5 at the plate with a double and one RBI in the loss. It's hard to believe that Edwards reached base five times and the Marlins still lost the game. Edwards has been one of the few bright spots in this lineup so far. His ability to get on base at the top of the lineup makes him worth rostering in most 12-team fantasy leagues.

Xavier Edwards Reinstated from 10-Day Injured List

The Miami Marlins have activated infielder Xavier Edwards (back) from the 10-day injured list prior to their contest on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants. Edwards hit the injured list on May 18 with a left mid-back strain. While Edwards is not in Saturday's lineup, fantasy managers should expect him to return to the starting nine on Sunday. Through his first 42 contests of the season, Edwards posted a .263/.337/.292 line with 11 stolen bases. He struck out at a solid 17.5% rate and drew walks at a 9.8% rate, which were both above the average marks. Last season, Edwards swiped an impressive 31 bags across a short 70-game stint. Fantasy managers should expect the 25-year-old to spend most of his time at the keystone going forward. This afternoon, Jack Winkler will get the nod at second base and bat in the nine-hole.

Xavier Edwards to Play Second Base When he Returns

Miami Marlins shortstop Xavier Edwards (back) will start his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, and MLB.com's Christian De Nicola reports that the Marlins plan for Edwards to move to second base when he comes off the 10-day injured list and keep Otto Lopez at shortstop. Edwards will play second base for the Jumbo Shrimp on Thursday. The 25-year-old played the keystone when he debuted in the big leagues in 2023 before he was moved to the 6 last year. The Marlins said on Wednesday that Edwards should only need a couple of rehab games, so it's possible that he rejoins the team for this weekend's series against the San Francisco Giants. Edwards has minimal power for a middle infielder but he already has 11 steals in 42 games this year and stole 31 bags in 70 contests a year ago. Adding second base eligibility will make him even more valuable in fantasy.
