Alejandro Kirk Playing in Game 7 of World Series

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) is in the starting lineup ahead of Game 7 of the World Series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. Kirk made an early exit on Friday after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand. Luckily, the X-rays came back negative, and Kirk appears to have avoided any significant injuries. It's going to take more than that to hold Kirk out of this series-deciding matchup. He's slashing .265/.361/.482 with five home runs and 13 RBI during the postseason. Kirk will be behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Shohei Ohtani on Saturday.

X-Rays Come Back Negative on Alejandro Kirk's Hand

Updating a previous report, X-rays on Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk's left hand came back negative and "showed no fractures," according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Kirk will be ready to play in the deciding Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night at the Rogers Centre against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 26-year-old Mexican backstop was lifted for a pinch-runner in the top of the ninth inning in the Game 6 loss on Friday night after he was hit by a pitch from right-hander Roki Sasaki, but he avoided any fractures in his hand and should start in Game 7. It's great news for the Blue Jays as they seek their first World Series championship in over 30 years, as Kirk has gone 6-for-21 (.286) with two home runs and six RBI in six games during the Fall Classic. He has five long balls and 13 RBI in 17 total postseason games this year.

Alejandro Kirk Goes for X-Rays After Being Hit on the Hand

MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reports that Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) will head for X-rays on his left hand after he was hit by a pitch on Friday night in the Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The good news is that the X-rays sound precautionary, according to manager John Schneider. Kirk was hit by Dodgers right-hander Roki Sasaki in the bottom of the ninth inning and was lifted for a pinch-runner. The pitch didn't appear to hit him squarely in the hand, but the Blue Jays want to make sure the starting catcher doesn't have a fracture in his hand. If Kirk is unable to play in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night, Tyler Heineman would get the nod behind the dish. Kirk has been a big part of Toronto's postseason success this year, hitting .242 (16-for-66) with five homers and 13 RBI, and he's gone 6-for-21 with two homers and six RBI in the Fall Classic.

Alejandro Kirk Getting Saturday Off

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is not in his team's starting lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's a day game after a night game for Toronto, so this is likely just a day off for Kirk. The 26-year-old has been one of the better sources of batting average at the catcher position this season, slashing .286/.354/.414 with 12 home runs and 65 RBI in 463 plate appearances. Tyler Heineman will get the start behind the plate and bat eighth on Saturday for Toronto.

Alejandro Kirk Back in Blue Jays Lineup

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) is back in the starting lineup for Friday's big series opener against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers at the Rogers Centre. Kirk is doing the catching and will bat sixth against Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. Kirk took a foul tip to his right hand during Tuesday's game and was held out of Wednesday's contest as a precaution. After a day off on Thursday, the 26-year-old Mexican backstop will return for the weekend series against Milwaukee. Kirk made his second All-Star appearance this year and is having one of the finest years of his career, slashing .299/.363/.424 with a .787 OPS, 11 home runs, 60 RBI and 38 runs scored in 107 games. He's currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-13 with a homer, double, four RBI and five runs scored.

Alejandro Kirk Avoids Major Injury, Remains Out on Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Kirk underwent X-rays on his hand after getting hit by a foul tip during Tuesday's game. Luckily, the X-rays came back negative, so Kirk appears to have avoided major injury. The Jays are going to take the cautious approach and hold out Kirk on Wednesday. He could miss a few games until the swelling goes down. However, it sounds like Kirk will avoid a trip to the injured list. Tyler Heineman will do the catching and bat eighth against the Twins on Wednesday.

Alejandro Kirk Activated and Starting on Sunday

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) was activated from the seven-day injured list and is starting at catcher and batting sixth on Sunday against the visiting Kansas City Royals and right-hander Seth Lugo at the Rogers Centre. Kirk had a minor concussion after he was hit by a foul tip off his facemask last weekend and he ended up missing the minimum time on the seven-day IL. The Blue Jays will get their primary catcher back. The 26-year-old Kirk doesn't have big-time power as a catcher by any means, but he's been a must-start in single-catcher formats in 2025 with the way he's swung the bat. He made his second career All-Star team this year and will return to a .304/.361/.413 slash line with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 27 runs scored in 88 games for the first-place Jays. Kirk is hitless in just two career at-bats versus Lugo.

Alejandro Kirk on Track to Return on Sunday

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) is tentatively on track to play in a minor-league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, which puts him on track to be activated from the seven-day injured list on Sunday if all goes well over the next few games, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. A foul tip to Kirk's mask last weekend ended up giving him a minor concussion, but he's made good progress and could rejoin Toronto's lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. Ali Sanchez got the start for Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, but Tyler Heineman has seen most of the playing time behind the dish with Kirk out. Kirk made the All-Star squad for the second time in his career this year and will be returning to a strong .304/.361/.413 slash line. He doesn't have much power, but fantasy managers aren't complaining at the weak catching spot.

Alejandro Kirk Goes on Concussion Injured List

The Toronto Blue Jays placed catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Sunday recalled catcher Ali Sanchez from the minor leagues in a corresponding move, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Tyler Heineman is behind the plate in the series finale against the Detroit Tigers and will take over as Toronto's primary catcher while Kirk tends to his head injury. The 26-year-old Kirk suffered a concussion after taking a foul tip to the mask during Saturday's win in Motown, and he will miss at least the next week. Fantasy managers may want to expect a longer absence, as concussions can be difficult to return from. The two-time All-Star doesn't have amazing power (seven homers in 88 games), but he's hitting over .300 on the year and has an above average .775 OPS in his 346 trips to the plate in his sixth big-league season.

Alejandro Kirk Being Evaluated for Concussion

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is being evaluated for a concussion, manager John Schneider said after the team's 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Kirk took a foul ball off the mask in the second inning and stayed in until the Blue Jays replaced him with Tyler Heineman in the fourth. The 26-year-old Kirk has been a key piece for a Toronto team that surprisingly boasts the best record in the majors. He earned his second All-Star nod this season and has slashed .304/.361/.413 with seven homers, 47 RBI, 27 runs scored, and a minuscule 9.8% strikeout rate in 346 plate appearances. If he has to miss time, the Jays would plug in Heineman, a 34-year-old journeyman who has been shockingly productive in 2025. Heineman has hit .330/.394/.495 with three homers, 16 RBI, 19 runs, and two stolen bases over 106 trips to the plate.
