Trey Yesavage Resumes Throwing on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage (knee) resumed throwing from flat ground on Tuesday, per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. Yesavage underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee last week. However, he appears to be making quick progress in his recovery and could have a chance to make it back to the big league mound before the end of the regular season. Across 93 2/3 innings (18 starts) in 2026, Yesavage has recorded a 5-5 record with a 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 91 strikeouts. In addition to his current knee injury, the 23-year-old missed time early in the year with a shoulder impingement. With roughly six weeks left to go in the regular season, Toronto could be planning for Yesavage to work as a bulk reliever or in short stints as a starter if he can get healthy before the end of the year. Whether he makes it back or not, Yesavage's fantasy utility for the remainder of 2026 is an open question.

Trey Yesavage Week-to-Week After Having Knee Surgery

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Trey Yesavage (knee) underwent surgery to repair his torn meniscus on Tuesday. He underwent successful left knee surgery and is now considered week-to-week, according to Mitch Bannon. The Jays haven't ruled out him for the rest of the season, but it's going to be tough for return in time for any regular season action. If the Jays somehow get into the playoffs, Yesavage might be an option, but otherwise, his season is probably over. This season, Yesavage posted a 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 91/46 K/BB ratio across 18 starts. Fantasy managers in redraft formats can start looking for a replacement.

Trey Yesavage has Meniscus Injury, Surgery Could be an Option

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that right-hander Trey Yesavage (knee) is dealing with a meniscus injury in his left knee and will visit with a specialist on Monday to determine his next steps, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Surgery "is always a possibility" when a player sees a specialist, per Schneider, but "we're obviously hoping to avoid that." Going under the knife would almost certainly cut the 23-year-old's first full season in the big leagues in 2026 short. The Blue Jays pulled the East Carolina product from his start early on Tuesday against the Houston Astros and then placed him on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday. Even if Yesavage avoids surgery, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back in two weeks. The former 20th overall pick in 2024 continues to struggle to refine his command with an 11.9% walk rate while going 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA (4.08 FIP), 1.14 WHIP, and 91:46 K:BB in 93 2/3 frames across his 18 starts. Keep Yesavage stashed unless we find out that he needs season-ending knee surgery.

Blue Jays Place Trey Yesavage on Injured List With Knee Inflammation

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Wednesday that they placed right-hander Trey Yesavage (knee) on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his left knee and recalled right-handed pitchers Lazaro Estrada and Chase Lee from Triple-A Buffalo in corresponding moves. Yesavage will miss at least the next two weeks after being pulled from his start early on Tuesday against the Houston Astros when he felt a pinch in his left knee. The 23-year-old former first-rounder from East Carolina University doesn't appear to be dealing with any structural damage, so it's realistic to think he could be ready to roll once he's eligible to return to Toronto's starting rotation in 15 days. In 18 starts (93 2/3 innings) in 2026 in his first full MLB campaign, Yesavage has gone 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA (4.08 FIP) and 1.14 WHIP with 91 strikeouts and 46 walks. Fantasy managers should be stashing Yesavage in all fantasy formats for his strikeout upside. Yesavage's elevated 11.8% walk rate in his first two MLB seasons has kept him from reaching his ceiling.

Trey Yesavage Pulled With Knee Discomfort on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage (knee) left his start early on Tuesday against the Houston Astros with discomfort in his left knee, according to Blue Jays reporter Hazel Mae. Manager John Schneider said Yesavage will go for an MRI exam on Wednesday after feeling a pinch in his knee. Yesavage only made it through two innings on Tuesday, not allowing a run while walking one and striking out none. We won't know whether the 23-year-old will have to go on the injured list until the results of his MRI come back. The former 20th overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft out of East Carolina University quickly rose through the minor leagues last year to make his big-league debut at the tail end of the regular season before showing his strikeout upside in Toronto's postseason run to the World Series. In his first full major-league season in 2026, Yesavage has gone 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA (4.08 FIP) and 1.14 WHIP with 91 strikeouts and 46 walks in 93 2/3 innings across 18 starts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in his four starts since the All-Star break, but fantasy managers would love to see his 11.9% walk rate come down.

Trey Yesavage a Sell Candidate Going into the Second Half?

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage made it to the big leagues quickly after Toronto took him with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft out of East Carolina University. The 22-year-old made it up to the majors for three regular-season starts before he became a dominant arm during the Blue Jays' run to the World Series last fall. Toronto is being cautious with the young right-hander's workload -- he made just 14 starts and threw 75 innings in the first half -- and he went 4-4 with a 3.72 ERA (4.11 FIP) and 1.16 WHIP with 69 strikeouts and 39 walks. Yesavage limped into this week's All-Star break, posting a 5.21 ERA (5.73 FIP) with seven home runs allowed, 30 strikeouts, and 22 walks in 38 innings over seven starts. In his final start before the break, he gave up four earned runs with seven walks and just one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the San Diego Padres. Yesavage has plenty of long-term upside, but his lack of control (12.5% walk rate) coupled with a lowered strikeout rate (22.2%) should have fantasy managers concerned. It wouldn't hurt to gauge your league's interest in Yesavage at the trade deadline.

Trey Yesavage Sharp in Season Debut, Quickly Re-Entering Must-Start Territory

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Trey Yesavage made his season debut on Tuesday, allowing just four hits over 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox. He also recorded three strikeouts, zero walks, and the win. This was Yesavage's first game back in the majors following his recovery from a right shoulder impingement (and a subsequent rehab assignment). He looked sharp as a rookie last year with a 2.35 FIP and 16 strikeouts over 14 regular-season innings, and he picked up right where he left off in his season debut on Tuesday. The 22-year-old didn't rack up as many strikeouts as usual, but he should get back up to his career average over a larger sample size. Yesavage remains a strong starting-pitching option capable of generating strikeouts, throwing with solid velocity, and limiting loud contact. In fact, through 19.1 regular-season innings in the majors, the young righty has yet to allow a home run. He is already back in fantasy starter conversations, and he ranks as the SP55 in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings.

Trey Yesavage Returning From Injured List on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed starting pitcher Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make his 2026 season debut on Tuesday, when he will be activated from the 15-day injured list to face the Boston Red Sox. It was announced that the 22-year-old right-hander will also start on Tuesday, giving the Blue Jays some much-needed help in their already depleted rotation. The move will push Eric Lauer back into the bullpen, and also change when both Patrick Corbin (Sunday) and Dylan Cease (Monday) will make their next starts. The highly touted pitcher will look to build on last season's success, where he was able to throw 14.0 efficient innings in the regular season and an additional 25.2 innings in the playoffs. In total, he tossed 41.2 innings and struck out 55 batters, all while compiling a 3.46 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. He should be activated and started in all fantasy leagues next week

Trey Yesavage Could be Ticketed for Another Rehab Start

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage's (shoulder) minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Buffalo was expected to be his final appearance while recovering from a right-shoulder impingement that landed him on the 15-day injured list to begin the 2026 season. However, he only went 2 1/3 innings and threw 64 pitches in that outing. His fastball sat between 93-96 mph, which was nice, but the Blue Jays wanted him to go at least 75 pitches, meaning it's possible he'll need another rehab start before making his return to Toronto's starting rotation, according to Max Ralph of MLB.com. "I mean, I wish he threw more pitches," manager John Schneider said. "I think physically, he's pretty good. So we'll figure that out in the next couple of days. I don't need to see the 12-strikeout game in the Minors." Fantasy managers must continue to be patient, but Yesavage's high-strikeout upside when healthy makes him a must-stash in all leagues. He's currently rostered in 92% of Yahoo leagues as he nears his 2026 debut.

Trey Yesavage to Make Another Rehab Start on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make another minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Buffalo, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. The Blue Jays want Yesavage to be a bit more built up and be 100% sure that he's here to stay in the majors when he makes his 2026 season debut. The Blue Jays were handling Yesavage with kid gloves back in spring training before putting him on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder impingement before Opening Day. Veteran lefty Patrick Corbin has looked good so far while filling in for the team's beat-up starting rotation, which may have bought the team a bit more time before bringing Yesavage back. He's allowed eight earned runs with three walks and 14 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings pitched in his three rehab appearances, and he's on the cusp of rejoining the major-league rotation. Workload restrictions will likely be in place, but Yesavage's high-end upside as a starting pitching prospect makes him stash-worthy everywhere.
