Trey Yesavage to Make Another Rehab Start on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make another minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Buffalo, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. The Blue Jays want Yesavage to be a bit more built up and be 100% sure that he's here to stay in the majors when he makes his 2026 season debut. The Blue Jays were handling Yesavage with kid gloves back in spring training before putting him on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder impingement before Opening Day. Veteran lefty Patrick Corbin has looked good so far while filling in for the team's beat-up starting rotation, which may have bought the team a bit more time before bringing Yesavage back. He's allowed eight earned runs with three walks and 14 strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings pitched in his three rehab appearances, and he's on the cusp of rejoining the major-league rotation. Workload restrictions will likely be in place, but Yesavage's high-end upside as a starting pitching prospect makes him stash-worthy everywhere.

Trey Yesavage Could Return to Jays Next Week

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) could return from the 15-day injured list next week after throwing 4 1/3 innings during a minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Yesavage got up to 71 pitches this week in his third rehab start while he continues to recover from a right-shoulder impingement. Although his fastball velocity was slightly down at 93.3 mph on Wednesday and his fastball command was spotty, at times, manager John Schneider said it was everything the team expected out of Yesavage. He could throw 85 to 90 pitches in his next rehab start, which would put him on track to rejoin the big-league club in Anaheim next week. However, with veteran lefty Patrick Corbin pitching well, Toronto could delay Yesavage's return for another week. Yesavage will return to a rotation role, but don't be surprised if the Jays ease the young pitching prospect back into the fold. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats for his high-end strikeout upside.

Trey Yesavage Goes 4 1/3 Innings in Latest Rehab Start on Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) tossed 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in his latest minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo. Yesavage allowed three earned runs on seven hits (two home runs) while walking one and striking out five batters. The 22-year-old allowed five earned runs with two walks and nine strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings in his first two rehab appearances at Single-A Dunedin. He was hit around a bit in his start on Wednesday, and his velocity was down a bit, but the positive is that he appears to be fully healthy. Yesavage got up to 71 pitches at Buffalo, and it could end up being his final rehab start before the Blue Jays activate him from the 15-day injured list. A right-shoulder impingement put Yesavage on the IL to begin the 2026 season. Yesavage has high-end starting-pitching upside for fantasy managers in dynasty leagues, but he should be rostered everywhere. Those in redraft formats will need to be patient, as the Jays figure to limit his workload in his first full big-league campaign.

Trey Yesavage to Make Another Rehab Start Next Week

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make another minor-league rehab start next Tuesday or Wednesday, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Where and when Yesavage's next rehab start comes will depend somewhat on the weather. He'll approach 70 pitches, and it sounds like it could be his final rehab start before rejoining the big-league roster for his 2026 season debut. Yesavage was touched up for four runs in 2 2/3 innings at Single-A Dunedin in his last rehab start, but he was also able to strike out six batters, and his velocity was solid. A right-shoulder impingement forced him to the 15-day injured list to begin the year. The former 20th overall pick in 2024 out of East Carolina quickly reached the big leagues in 2025 and had a 3.21 ERA with 16 K's in 14 innings in his first three starts. He proceeded to work in Toronto's rotation all the way to the World Series, where he fanned 12 Dodgers batters. The high-end upside is obvious for one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, but Yesavage's redraft ceiling will be lowered by the fact that the Jays are planning to limit his innings to somewhere between 135 and 160 in 2026.

Trey Yesavage Allows Four Runs in Rehab Start

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) allowed four earned runs while walking one and striking out six in 2 2/3 innings on Thursday in his minor-league rehab start for Single-A Dunedin, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Yesavage threw 34 of his 52 pitches for strikes. All four of the runs he allowed came on a string of singles in the first inning. Most importantly, Yesavage's velocity held firm, and his command was solid. The Blue Jays should announce a plan for the next step in his rehab on Friday. In his first rehab start with Dunedin, the 22-year-old allowed an earned run while walking one and striking out three in 2 2/3 innings. Yesavage slightly increased his workload, so he'll most likely be asked to make another rehab start or two before the Jays clear him to rejoin the big-league rotation. The prized young arm will be a fixture in Toronto's rotation for years to come, but they are going to slow-play him back into the big leagues in 2026 after a quick rise to the majors last year and an extended workload going deep into the postseason. He needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues for his high-end upside.

Trey Yesavage to Make Another Rehab Start on Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) will make another minor-league rehab start on Thursday with Single-A Dunedin after throwing 44 pitches in his last rehab start, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. Matheson speculates that Yesavage will be a rehab start or two away from returning to Toronto's starting rotation if he's able to build on his pitch count from last time out this Thursday. The 22-year-old is recovering from a minor right-shoulder impingement that landed him on the 15-day injured list to begin the 2026 season. He looked good for Dunedin last Friday, giving up a run with four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings pitched. Barring a setback, Yesavage will come off the IL before Jose Berrios (elbow), Shane Bieber (elbow, forearm), and Cody Ponce (knee). Yesavage is one of the brightest young pitching prospects in the game and has high-strikeout upside, but the Blue Jays are going to ease him back in and manage his innings in his first full MLB season.

Trey Yesavage Strikes Out Three in Rehab Start

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) made a minor-league rehab start on Friday with Single-A Dunedin and allowed an earned run on a solo home run while walking one and striking out three in 2 2/3 innings of work. This was Yesavage's first start in a game this spring after he was held back in spring training and then placed on the 15-day injured list before the start of the 2026 season due to a right-shoulder impingement. The 22-year-old's injury isn't considered serious, but it gives the Blue Jays another reason to handle him with utmost caution early on in his first full big-league season. Yesavage made it up to the big leagues in a hurry last year after he was taken 20th overall out of East Carolina in 2024. Yesavage showed good velocity on Friday while throwing 44 pitches, and he should make his season debut well before both Jose Berrios (elbow) and Shane Bieber (elbow). Despite the high-end upside Yesavage brings for fantasy managers, he may not reach his true ceiling until later this year as the team tries to manage his innings early in his MLB career.

Trey Yesavage Set for Rehab Game on Friday

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) is scheduled to throw three innings for Single-A Dunedin on Friday, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. Manager John Schneider estimated that Yesavage would be back in the majors first, followed by right-handers Jose Berrios (elbow) and Shane Bieber (elbow, forearm). The Blue Jays proceeded cautiously with the 22-year-old in spring training after he made a quick rise all the way to the big leagues at the tail end of last season. He put his high-end arsenal on display in the postseason, too, even striking out 12 Los Angeles Dodgers batters in the World Series. Yesavage didn't pitch in any Grapefruit League games before being shut down with a right-shoulder impingement that isn't considered serious. Barring a setback, he should be ready to rejoin the Jays' rotation before the end of April, but his fantasy upside will likely be limited initially as Toronto eases him back and limits his innings.

Trey Yesavage to Throw Sim Game on Friday

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a three-inning/45-pitch simulated game on Friday, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Yesavage was held back on purpose in spring training and then landed on the 15-day injured list to begin the 2026 regular season due to a right-shoulder impingement. The 22-year-old will be given plenty of time to build up his workload as he looks to rejoin Toronto's starting rotation. Yesavage made a quick ascent to the big leagues in 2025 and only made three regular-season starts before hurling 27 2/3 innings over six outings (five starts) in the postseason, which included an epic 12-strikeout performance in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He struck out 39 batters and walked 11 in the postseason, putting his high-end upside on full display. Control can be an issue for Yesavage, though, and his redraft upside could be capped in 2026 with the Blue Jays handling him with extreme care to ensure his long-term health.

Trey Yesavage "Very Effective" in Minor-League Game

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Trey Yesavage (shoulder) was "very effective" in a minor-league game on Wednesday, and his "velocity bumped back up," general manager Ross Atkins told Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Toronto was being overly cautious with the 22-year-old's workload this spring, which is why he didn't appear in any Grapefruit League games. Then we learned that he was battling a right-shoulder impingement, which landed him on the 15-day injured list to begin the 2026 campaign. It's disappointing for Yesavage's fantasy managers, but it's a plus that he's pitching in games and looking good. Still, he is going to need probably a few more minor-league starts on an official rehab assignment before the Jays are comfortable having him rejoin the big-league rotation. When he makes his season debut, expect the Jays to ease him into action early on, limiting his DFS appeal. In year-long fantasy formats, Yesavage is one of the highest-upside young starting pitchers in baseball.
