Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Placed on the Concussion Injured List

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (concussion) was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list on Saturday, a day after colliding with George Lombard Jr. at third base. The 27-year-old had never been placed on the Injured List during his eight seasons in the majors and will now be out of the Blue Jays' lineup for at least seven days while both he and the team manage the situation. Both Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo will likely get some reps at first base while the team deals with life without Guerrero, who has struggled all season to get going. The usually reliable slugger has hit only seven home runs this season while sporting a career-low .263 batting average. The hope is that he can return after missing as little time as possible, though, at this point, it's unclear just how long he will remain out of action.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Out With Head Injury on Saturday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (head) is absent from Saturday's starting nine against the division-rival New York Yankees, per MLB.com. Guerrero apparently took a knee to the head from Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. when he was sliding into third base in the sixth inning of Friday night's game and was pulled early. The 27-year-old was placed in the league's concussion protocol, and manager John Schneider said that the right-handed slugger was dealing with a headache. Fantasy managers should not be surprised if Guerrero is forced to the seven-day concussion injured list if his symptoms don't clear up soon. For now, we'll consider him day-to-day. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Sunday to see if he's cleared to return to the starting lineup. Charles McAdoo is starting at first base and batting ninth on Saturday against Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler. Not much has gone right for Vladdy in 2026, as he's been one of the biggest fantasy busts, hitting .263/.337/.356 with a .693 OPS, only seven home runs, 46 RBI, 61 runs, and seven stolen bases across his 430 at-bats.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Exits Early After Collision, In Concussion Protocol

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (head) was removed early during Friday's game against the New York Yankees. According to Mitch Bannon, Guerrero was removed after suffering a head injury while sliding into third base. Guerrero collided with the knee of George Lombard Jr., which resulted in Guerrero being pulled from the game for precautionary reasons. Before leaving, Guerrero went 1-for-3 at the plate with a single and a run scored. The Jays will likely continue to evaluate him, but for now, fantasy managers should consider Guerrero as day-to-day. There should be another update on his status ahead of Saturday's game. UPDATE: MLB.com's Keegan Matheson reports that Guerrero is going through the league's concussion protocol. Manager John Schneider said Guerrero had a "bit of a headache."

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Returns From Hamstring Injury on Saturday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) is back at first base and is batting third in the batting order for Saturday's contest on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Aaron Nola at Citizens Bank Park, per MLB.com. Guerrero is back for the Jays after sitting out the last three games due to tightness in his hamstring, an injury that has cropped up several times this year. The 27-year-old six-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner has been one of the league's biggest fantasy baseball busts in 2026, as he enters Saturday's action with a .259/.338/.349 slash line, .687 OPS, only six home runs, 44 RBI, 56 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 108 games across 456 plate appearances. Vladdy hasn't spent time on the injured list, but one has to wonder how healthy he's been this year while seeing a massive drop-off in the power department. He hit under .200 with just one homer in 23 games in June, and he hasn't hit more than two homers in any month this season. Fantasy managers are just hoping Guerrero can come alive for the stretch run. He'll face Nola on Saturday, a pitcher he has a home run and two RBI against in eight career at-bats.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Remains Out Friday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies, marking his third straight absence. Guerrero last played Tuesday against the Houston Astros, going 0-for-3 with a walk before sitting Wednesday and Thursday. Manager John Schneider said earlier this week that Guerrero had been dealing with hamstring tightness but did not expect the issue to require a trip to the injured list. The 27-year-old is batting .259 with six home runs and 44 RBI this season. Kazuma Okamoto will start at first base Friday.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Remains Out of Blue Jays Lineup on Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) remains out of his team's lineup for the second straight game on Thursday. Guerrero Jr. has been in and out of the Toronto lineup since exiting early from a game on July 28 due to hamstring tightness. While the Blue Jays have not indicated that their star first baseman will require a trip to the injured list, it's obviously a concern for fantasy managers that Guerrero Jr. will get a second straight day off on Thursday. It's been a frustrating year overall for the 27-year-old, who is hitting .259/.338/.349 with six home runs, 44 RBI, 55 runs scored, and seven stolen bases across 456 plate appearances. With Guerrero Jr. out of the lineup, the Blue Jays have shifted third baseman Kazuma Okamoto across the diamond to first base and used infielders Ernie Clement and Josh Smith to cover the hot corner.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Back After One-Game Absence

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Guerrero left Tuesday's loss to Washington after feeling tightness in his right hamstring while reaching first base and turning toward second on an infield single. He sat out Wednesday before Toronto's scheduled off-day Thursday. The 27-year-old returns with a .264 batting average, six home runs, 44 RBI, seven stolen bases, and a .700 OPS this season. Fantasy managers can get Guerrero back into their lineups immediately.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Not Expected to Play on Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) is not expected to be in the team's lineup on Wednesday after he was removed early from Toronto's loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday with right hamstring tightness, per Ian Quillen of MLB.com. It's not yet clear whether Guerrero Jr. will require a trip to the injured list, but resting him on Wednesday will give the 27-year-old two full days off before Toronto's next series against the St. Louis Cardinals begins on Friday. It's been a nightmare season so far for Guerrero Jr., who is hitting .265/.345/.357 with six home runs, 44 RBI, 55 runs scored, and seven stolen bases across 435 plate appearances. His barrel rate is down from 12.2% in 2025 to 6.7% this season, and his hard-hit rate has dropped from 50.7% to 43.8%. With Guerrero Jr. out of the starting lineup on Wednesday, Blue Jays regular third baseman Kazuma Okamoto has moved across the diamond to cover first base, with utility infielder Ernie Clement getting the start at third.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Leaves Tuesday's Game With Hamstring Tightness

The Toronto Blue Jays announced that first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hamstring) left Tuesday night's game early against the Washington Nationals with tightness in his right hamstring. Guerrero went 1-for-2 at the plate before being replaced at first base by Kazuma Okamoto. It's not the first time this year that the 27-year-old has dealt with a hamstring issue, but hopefully it's nothing serious and he's just day-to-day. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if Vladdy is back in Toronto's starting lineup against Washington. The six-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner has been one of the most disappointing big-name starts in baseball in 2026, as he entered Tuesday's action slashing just .264/.344/.356 with a career-low .700 OPS, six home runs, 44 RBI, 54 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 102 games across 433 plate appearances. Guerrero's power has noticeably been absent, and a turnaround doesn't appear to be imminent. Health could be a major reason, as the Canadian native has dealt with nagging issues off and on. In 21 games in July going into Tuesday's game against Washington, Guerrero was hitting .250 (20-for-80) with two homers, five doubles, 10 RBI, nine runs, and one steal in 90 plate appearances.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Rest Back During All-Star Break

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) said he intends to sit out during the upcoming All-Star Game. Guerrero mentioned that he wants to rest his lingering back problem during the break. He mentioned that he's grateful for the fans voting him in, but he wants to focus on getting healthy for the second half of the season. The assumption is that Nick Kurtz will take over the starting spot with Guerrero opting out. Over the last month, Guerrero is 9-for-91 with one home run and 11 RBI. Hopefully, Guerrero will be back to the superstar slugger that we're used to seeing after the break.
