Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Officially Back in Tuesday's Lineup

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) is starting at first base and batting third for the Jays in Tuesday's game at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox and left-hander Payton Tolle, per MLB.com. Guerrero was held out of the final two games of the weekend series against the New York Yankees with back tightness, but the 27-year-old is back for Tuesday's series opener in Beantown. The five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner will return to a .280/.372/.366 slash line in his 68 games and 288 plate appearances this year, but he has frustrated his fantasy managers with his lack of power (just three home runs). There's still time for Vladdy to turn his season around in the power department, and the buy-low window is still firmly open for fantasy managers with the All-Star break quickly approaching in mid-July. Guerrero has faced Tolle just twice in his career and has one hit. Fantasy managers in traditional fantasy leagues will want to get him back in their starting lineups.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Likely to Rejoin the Lineup on Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) felt better on Sunday, according to manager John Schneider, although he still sat out a second straight game due to back tightness, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Guerrero seems likely to return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Boston Red Sox after another scheduled day off on Monday. The 27-year-old Canadian was gearing up to pinch hit in the ninth inning on Sunday against the New York Yankees, but he never appeared in the game. The five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner has only three home runs on the year through 68 games and has gone 7-for-38 (.184) with three doubles, three RBI, four runs scored, four walks, and five strikeouts in 10 games so far in June. Despite the recent cold stretch, Vladdy is hitting .280 (69-for-246) on the year with a .372 on-base percentage. Guerrero's buy-low window is firmly open right now, but it could close quickly once he returns from his back injury.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Still Out With Back Injury

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) will miss a second straight game on Sunday in the series finale against the division-rival New York Yankees due to lower-back tightness, per MLB.com. Charles McAdoo is starting at first base as the team takes on right-hander Will Warren. Guerrero's injury isn't believed to be serious, so he should have a good shot to make his return for Tuesday's series opener versus the division-rival Boston Red Sox after another scheduled day off on Monday. Vlad's back issues could help explain why he has hit just .184 (7-for-38) with no homers, three doubles, three RBI, four runs scored, four walks, and five strikeouts in 10 games so far in June. The five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner is hitting a strong .280 (69-for-246) on the year, but the Canadian slugger has only three round-trippers in 68 games played in 2026. Guerrero currently sits in the 75th percentile in xwOBA and 64th percentile in hard-hit rate with an expected batting average of .298. Now is the time to buy low on him in fantasy leagues.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Out of Lineup With Back Tightness

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) is out of the lineup on Saturday due to back tightness. Manager John Schneider commented before the game that the five-time All-Star's back tightened up during Friday's contest and that his absence on Saturday is purely precautionary to avoid aggravating the issue. The good news is that he is feeling better, and the hope is that with minimal time off, he can return to full health. His status is considered day-to-day, with updates likely to provide more clarity ahead of Sunday's game. The usually durable and reliable first baseman has hit just three home runs this season and is enduring what would be considered a down year by his standards, despite posting a .280 batting average. Charles McAdoo will get the start at first base on Saturday and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Returning From Elbow Injury on Wednesday

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (elbow) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting in the two-hole for Wednesday's series finale in Toronto against the visiting Miami Marlins and right-hander Eury Perez, according to MLB.com. Guerrero sat out the last two games as a precaution with a right-elbow contusion after he was hit by a pitch over the weekend, but he's back in action on Wednesday and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups in traditional leagues. The 27-year-old Canadian slugger has been light on power so far this year (just three home runs) and has struggled in May, going 14-for-75 (.187) with one homer, seven RBI, 14 runs scored, two steals, 13 walks, and eight strikeouts in 22 games and 93 plate appearances. Vlad has hit .333 (8-for-24) in his last eight games, though, and he's still hitting a strong .287 on the season with a .386 on-base percentage in 223 plate appearances. The buy-low window is still very much open.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Still Out With Elbow Injury

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (elbow) will miss a second straight start on Tuesday due to a right-elbow contusion against the visiting Miami Marlins, according to MLB.com. Lenyn Sosa will make another start at first base at Rogers Centre and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander Sergio Alcantara. Guerrero is day-to-day after being hit by a pitch in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he was available off the bench in Monday's series opener against the Fish, although he did not get into the game. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if Vlad is back in action for the Jays. Those setting DFS lineups will want to steer clear of Sosa at the bottom of the batting order. He's also hitless in four career at-bats against Alcantara. Guerrero is in the 81st percentile in xwOBA on the year and is hitting a solid .287 (54-for-188), but he has just three home runs in 53 games and is in just the 57th percentile in hard-hit rate. There's still time to turn things around, but fantasy managers may begin to panic soon.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Not Ready to Return on Monday Against Marlins

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (elbow) is not in the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener in Toronto against the visiting Miami Marlins. Lenyn Sosa will start at first for the Jays and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander Janson Junk. Guerrero is not ready to return to action after he left Sunday's series finale prematurely against the Pittsburgh Pirates after he was hit by a pitch on his right elbow. Thankfully, X-rays came back negative, so he's being considered day-to-day for now. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if Vlad is ready to return for Game 2 of the series on Tuesday at the Rogers Centre. The 27-year-old five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner has only three home runs on the season through 188 at-bats, but he's hitting a strong .287 (54-for-188) with a .386 on-base percentage, 22 RBI, 32 runs, and four steals in 53 games played. Sosa should be ignored in DFS lineups out of the nine-hole for Toronto.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Exits Sunday's Game Early with Elbow Contusion

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (elbow) was removed in the bottom of the fifth inning during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after being hit by a pitch. He reached base in all three plate appearances and scored a run before exiting. X-rays of the Guerrero Jr.'s elbow were negative for a fracture, and he was officially diagnosed with an elbow contusion. The 27-year-old appears to have avoided a major injury and is day-to-day for now. His next chance to return to the lineup will be on Monday against the Miami Marlins. Lenyn Sosa replaced Guerrero Jr. on Sunday and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any additional time. UPDATE: Manager John Schneider said after Sunday's loss to the Pirates that Guerrero is "definitely a possibility" to play in Monday's series opener against the Fish.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has Cooled Off in May, a Buy-Low Candidate?

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is hitting an even .300 (45-for-150) on the year, but he has cooled off considerably in May, going 5-for-37 (.135) with no extra-base hits, two RBI, five runs scored, four walks, and five strikeouts across 10 games and 41 plate appearances. With his recent slump, Guerrero's hard-hit rate now sits in the 63rd percentile, although his xwOBA is in the 87th percentile. Even the best hitters in baseball go through rough patches, and it appears that Vladdy is one of them right now. The good news for fantasy managers is that his expected batting average sits at .312, and his expected slugging percentage is at .453 -- he's currently slugging just .387 with two home runs, 17 RBI, and 23 runs scored on the season. The five-time All-Star shouldn't be expected to approach the career-high mark of 48 homers he hit back in 2021, but he's still projected to reach the 20-homer mark in 2026 while hitting around .300. It wouldn't hurt to test out the Vlad manager in your league to see if you can't pick him up for pennies on the dollar during his current skid.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Should Start on Saturday Despite Finger Issue

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (finger) was checked out by the team's medical staff in the eighth inning in Friday night's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks after clipping his left index finger on an opponent's jersey, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Guerrero ultimately stayed in the game, though, and manager John Schneider said he should be fine to play on Saturday in the desert in Game 2 of the series against the D-backs. The 27-year-old five-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI in Friday night's 6-3 loss, and he's hitting a strong .319/.427/.420 with a homer, eight RBI, seven runs scored, and a stolen base in his first 82 plate appearances of the 2026 season. Fantasy managers will want to check back later to see if Vladdy is in the starting lineup in Phoenix for a matchup with right-hander Zac Gallen.
