Bryan Ramos Starting On Sunday

Chicago White Sox third base prospect Bryan Ramos (elbow) is in the starting lineup on Sunday afternoon. Ramos will serve as the designated hitter and bat in the seven-hole. This is Ramos' first start of the spring. The 22-year-old has been dealing with a sore elbow and has still faced defensive restrictions. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression but seeing him return to the field, even as a designated hitter, is a positive sign. Ramos was given a brief taste of the majors last summer. Across 32 games, he posted a .202/.252/.333 line with four doubles and three home runs. Earlier in the season at Triple-A, Ramos held a .263/.339/.416 slash line with 13 doubles and eight long balls. If Ramos is able to produce well offensively, he could still make the Opening Day roster even if he is limited defensively.

Bryan Ramos Feeling Better

Chicago White Sox third baseman Bryan Ramos (elbow) said he's feeling better but has yet to resume throwing at spring training. "Right now I'm feeling pretty good. I've been hitting. I've been doing pretty much everything. The only thing I haven't been doing is throwing for now," Ramos said. The 22-year-old is being cautious with a sore right elbow early in camp, but as long as he can resume throwing relatively soon, he should have no problems getting ready for Opening Day in late March. Expect the White Sox to ease him into Cactus League games. The Cuban infielder made his major-league debut in 2024 but hit just .202/.252/.333 with a weak .586 OPS, three homers, 11 RBI and 22 K's in 32 games played. On the positive side, Ramos made plenty of contact and played better late in the year. Josh Rojas and Miguel Vargas are likely ahead of him on the third base depth chart entering the 2025 season.

Bryan Ramos Has A Sore Elbow

Chicago White Sox third baseman Bryan Ramos (elbow) isn't worried about the sore right elbow that he's dealing with at the start of spring training. Ramos said he feels it more when he's throwing than when he's swinging a bat. The 22-year-old Cuban infielder might be limited to designated-hitter duties early in Cactus League games if his elbow is still bothering him then, but this doesn't sound like an injury that will put him in jeopardy of missing Opening Day in late March. In his big-league debut for the Pale Hose in 2024, Ramos hit only .202 (20-for-99) with three homers, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored and 22 strikeouts in 108 plate appearances over 32 games played. Ramos was more impressive in his second stint in the majors in September. With Josh Rojas and Miguel Vargas ahead of him on the third base depth chart, expect Ramos to open 2025 at Triple-A Charlotte.

White Sox Prioritizing Playing Time For Bryan Ramos, Miguel Vargas

Chicago White Sox interim manager Grady Sizemore said he doesn't have a set plan for third baseman Yoan Moncada, who returned from a lengthy stint on the injured list on Monday. Sizemore said the team is going to prioritize seeing infielders Bryan Ramos and Miguel Vargas at the tail end of the 2024 season. Moncada has been out since straining his groin in early April, so it makes sense for the White Sox to ease him back in while giving more run to Ramos and Vargas late in the year. In Monday's game in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels, Vargas got the start at the hot corner, with Ramos serving as the designated hitter. Ramos, 22, has hit just over the Mendoza Line with two homers, five RBI and 14 K's in his first 22 big-league games in 2024. Vargas, 24, has had a rough year at the plate this year and is hitting just .112 (11-for-98) with a homer and five RBI in 31 games since being acquired from the Dodgers.

Bryan Ramos Optioned, John Brebbia Designated For Assignment

The Chicago White Sox optioned infield prospect Bryan Ramos to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday and also designated right-handed reliever John Brebbia for assignment. Ramos will head right back to Charlotte after being recalled on Monday to make room for Jacob Amaya, who was claimed off waivers from Houston. Ramos, the team's No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline, played in his first 15 big-league games earlier this year and went only 9-for-46 (.196) with two doubles, two RBI and eight strikeouts in 48 plate appearances. The 22-year-old should see more run in the big leagues in 2025 for his right-handed power stroke. Brebbia gets removed from the 40-man roster after posting a rough 6.29 ERA in 54 appearances for the Pale Hose this year, although he did pick up two saves and 13 holds in the process for a terrible White Sox bullpen.

White Sox Recall Bryan Ramos From Triple-A

The Chicago White Sox have recalled infield prospect Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte. Ramos had a 15-game debut with the Sox earlier this season, but after slashing just .196/.208/.239 with a 1:8 BB:K in 48 plate appearances, he was sent back down. In his initial promotion, he was called up directly from Double-A where he had slashed .182/.265/.307 with two home runs in 24 games; this time he'll be recalled from Triple-A where he'd been faring better, slashing .257/.331/.412 with eight home runs in 59 games. Lenyn Sosa and Miguel Vargas have been splitting third base duties, but Sosa has also been playing second base and is on a five-game hit streak, so Brooks Baldwin, who is 3-for-22 over his last seven games may be the one with reduced playing time. Regardless, fantasy managers are best leaving Ramos on the waiver wire until he can prove he's major-league ready.

White Sox Option Bryan Ramos To Triple-A

The Chicago White Sox optioned rookie third baseman Bryan Ramos back to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. The White Sox will announce a corresponding move before Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Ramos, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will head back to the farm to work on his game after looking a bit overmatched at the plate in his first 15 games. In 48 plate appearances, the 22-year-old went 9-for-46 (.196) with no homers, two doubles, two RBI, one walk and eight strikeouts. Ramos went hitless with five strikeouts in 14 at-bats in five games since returning from a quadriceps injury, and the White Sox feel that he could benefit from a trip back to the minors. With Ramos out of the picture for now in the Windy City, Danny Mendick should be primed for regular duties at the hot corner.

Bryan Ramos Reinstated And Starting Saturday

The Chicago White Sox reinstated rookie infielder Bryan Ramos (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list on Saturday and optioned outfielder Zach DeLoach to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Ramos, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is starting at third base and is batting sixth for the White Sox in his return from the IL on Saturday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Albert Suarez. The 22-year-old is returning from a mild left-quadriceps strain and should continue to play regularly moving forward for the rebuilding White Sox. In his first 10 contests in the big leagues, the Cuban infielder has held his own, going 9-for-32 (.281), although he has yet to hit his first home run. In two minor-league rehab starts with Charlotte, he went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two walks.

Bryan Ramos Nearing Rehab Assignment

Chicago White Sox third base prospect Bryan Ramos (quadriceps) is on the brink of joining Triple-A Charlotte for a rehab assignment. The 24-year-old was removed from Tuesday's game due to tightness and was officially placed on the ten-day injured list on Friday. This is excellent news, as the young infielder has a chance to return to the big leagues as early as possible next Saturday. The rookie was performing well in his small ten-game sample size in the majors this season with a .281/.294/.344 line. Ramos has always shown great contact skills while in the minor leagues, consistently posting strong batting averages with solid power. When cleared to return, Ramos should be expected to see the majority of starts at the hot corner on the Southside.

Bryan Ramos Placed On Injured List With Quad Strain

Chicago White Sox third baseman Bryan Ramos (quadriceps) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a quad strain on Friday. Ramos was removed during the seventh inning of the first game of Chicago's doubleheader against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. Ramos had been performing decently for the White Sox, though most of his value to the team had been driven by his defense. No timetable has been set for Ramos to return, but White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said on Friday that "He wasn't 100 percent. He wasn't close to it," before stating he was probably closer to 70 percent. Danny Mendick, who the White Sox activated off the injured list in conjunction with Ramos' injury, should be expected to get the bulk of playing time while Ramos heals up.
