Cam Schlittler Strengthens Cy Young Bid With Dominant Performance Over Phillies

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler was absolutely brilliant on Friday night at Citizens Bank Park in a 1-0 shutout win over the Philadelphia Phillies, as he becomes the favorite for the American League Cy Young in 2026. Schlittler threw 7 1/3 shutout innings with three hits allowed, no walks, and 12 strikeouts to win his 10th game of the season and lower his season ERA to 2.07. It was as dominant a performance as you can get. The 25-year-old generated 16 swings and misses while throwing 68 of his 99 pitches for strikes. He was dominant from the jump, striking out six of the first nine batters he faced on the evening. The former seventh-rounder in 2022 out of Northeastern University has become New York's ace, and he ranks second in ERA and strikeouts (157) while ranking third in WHIP (0.93) over his 130 1/3 innings in 2026. Schlittler is a no-brainer must-start in all fantasy leagues during his breakout campaign as he heads into his next scheduled start against the Chicago White Sox. He has at least eight strikeouts in three of his four outings in July.

Cam Schlittler Moved Up to Friday's Series Opener Against Phillies

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler is being moved up from Sunday to start Friday's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic. Will Warren was originally scheduled to start on Friday against the Phils, but he was used out of the bullpen for two-thirds of an inning on Wednesday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 25-year-old Schlittler has been a first-time All-Star in 2026 while leading the league in WAR (4.1), ERA (2.20), starts (21), and WHIP (0.96) in 123 innings pitched while striking out 145 batters and walking 25. He only went 4 1/3 innings in his last outing on July 19 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, though, allowing three earned runs while walking none and striking out eight for his sixth loss. It's not the greatest matchup to look for a bounce-back, but Schlittler has been a must-start for fantasy managers this year and has struck out at least six batters while allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last three starts in July.

Cam Schlittler Won't Pitch in All-Star Game

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that right-hander Cam Schlittler will not pitch in Tuesday's All-Star Game, according to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. Schlittler isn't injured, but he doesn't want to push himself on what would be his between-starts throwing day. The 25-year-old has more than backed up his strong showing in his rookie campaign in 2025 with his first All-Star nod in 2026. Schlittler ends the first half of his first full season in the big leagues with a 9-5 record while leading the league in ERA (2.05), WHIP (0.94), and WAR (4.2) in 118 2/3 innings covering a league-high 20 starts. The former seventh-rounder in 2022 out of Northeastern University has quickly developed into a fantasy ace and is currently rostered in 98% of Yahoo leagues. His fantasy managers have to be happy about his decision to skip the All-Star Game as he looks for an equally dominant second half. It could be tough sledding to start the second half, though, with an upcoming matchup scheduled against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cam Schlittler Continues Dominant 2026 Season, Fans Career-High 13

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler was as dominant as ever on Friday night in the team's 5-0 shutout win in the Bronx over the visiting Cincinnati Reds, tossing six shutout innings with four hits allowed, no walks, and a career-high 13 strikeouts to lower his season ERA to 1.71. It was his eighth win of the year in what has quickly become a breakout campaign for Schlittler in just his second year in the big leagues with the Yankees. The 25-year-old former seventh-round pick in 2022 out of Northeastern University came into the day with a league-best 1.82 ERA (2.31 FIP) and 0.91 WHIP with 96 strikeouts and 18 walks in 39 innings pitched over his 15 starts. He also leads the league with a 3.8 WAR, 6.4 hits per nine, and 0.5 home runs allowed per nine innings. Schlittler has allowed one earned run or fewer in nine of his last 11 starts and gets a good matchup next against the Detroit Tigers. He has become a must-start in all fantasy leagues and is headed for his first All-Star appearance in 2026.

Should Fantasy Managers Consider Selling High on Cam Schlittler?

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler has been one of the best pitchers in baseball so far in 2026, recording a 5-1 record with a 1.35 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 59 strikeouts across 53 1/3 innings (nine starts). The 25-year-old is averaging 98.1 miles per hour on his fastball and currently owns an elite 24.8% strikeout rate. While Schlittler has unquestionably been excellent early on this year, there may be reason to believe some regression is coming. For one, Schlittler's 4.5% walk rate appears unsustainable, given that he posted a 10.2% walk rate across 73 MLB innings in 2025. Additionally, Schlittler's 0.17 HR/9 is likely to rise as the weather heats up, particularly given that he will be making his home starts at Yankee Stadium. Even with some decline, Schlittler could still provide fantasy managers with high-end starting pitcher production. However, managers may want to consider moving on if they can secure a king's ransom in return.

Cam Schlittler's Results Have Been Driven by Technical Tweak

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler, who has yet to allow a run in his two starts over 11 2/3 innings while walking none and striking out 15, tweaked the grip on his cutter and increased the velocity on the pitch from 92 mph in 2025 to 94.1 mph in 2026, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Schlittler is also throwing more cutters and sinkers so far this year. The 25-year-old is 96% rostered in Yahoo leagues for a reason and has quickly become one of the better young arms in baseball in the Yankees' system. In his major-league debut in 2025, Schlittler went 4-3 with a 2.96 ERA (3.74 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP with 84 strikeouts and 31 walks in 73 innings pitched over his 14 starts. He's looking even better this year with an improved arsenal and a bit more giddy-up on his pitches. Fantasy managers shouldn't be taking Schlittler out of their starting lineups for his next scheduled matchup against the Athletics.

Cam Schlittler Dominates Mariners on Wednesday for Second Win of 2026

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler dominated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, recording his second win of the season by throwing 6 1/3 scoreless innings. The 25-year-old struck out seven while allowing just two hits and zero walks. Across his first two starts of 2026, Schlittler has now logged 11 2/3 scoreless frames with 15 strikeouts while allowing just three hits. Schlittler made his MLB debut in 2025, recording a 4-3 record with a 2.96 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 84 strikeouts across 73 innings (14 starts). The young right-hander posted an elevated 10.2% walk rate, but he's yet to allow a free pass in his small sample of work so far in 2026. If Schlittler's early-season work is any indication, he could be on the verge of a full-scale breakout campaign.

Cam Schlittler to Make Grapefruit League Debut on Friday

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler (back/lat) will make his spring debut this Friday in a start against the Tampa Bay Rays, according to manager Aaron Boone. The 6-foot-6 hurler had been dealing with left lat/mid-back discomfort earlier in camp and has been working his way back up to game action. It's good news as the former seventh-round draft pick should be ready for Opening Day, although Boone had previously indicated that Schlittler may not be fully stretched out by then, possibly getting to about 70 pitches early on in the year. The 25-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2025, recording a 2.96 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 17.4 percent K-BB% over 14 starts. He's going around pick 128 in Yahoo! leagues, right around his RotoBaller rank of 134, although a slightly diminished ceiling to begin the season may depress his value a bit more.

Cam Schlittler Faces Live Hitters on Wednesday

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler (back, lat) faced hitters for the first time on Wednesday since being sidelined earlier in camp with left lat/mid-back discomfort, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Schlittler threw 25 pitches in his live batting practice session. Manager Aaron Boone said Schlittler "should be ready for the beginning of the season," but he probably won't be "fully built up in terms of stamina." "I'll take 70 pitches of Cam Schlittler," Boone said. "Especially with some of the off-days you have, even if you're in a piggyback situation for a time or two, sign me up for that." It sounds like the 25-year-old will open the year in the starting rotation, although he'll have a lower fantasy ceiling with an inning limit. The former seventh-rounder impressed in his first 14 MLB starts (73 innings) in his rookie year with an ERA under 3.00 and with 84 K's. Fantasy managers should expect at least a little bit of regression in 2026, but there's a lot to like long-term about Schlittler's profile.

Cam Schlittler Throws Bullpen Session on Saturday

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler (back) progressed to throwing a bullpen session on Saturday. Schlittler has thrown two bullpen sessions and should progress to facing live hitters soon. Schlittler has been slowly ramping up activities after missing time early in camp due to back inflammation. He hasn't experienced any setbacks and should get back up to full speed soon. The 25-year-old is coming off a strong rookie campaign in 2025. He registered a 2.96 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and an 84/31 K/BB ratio across 14 starts with the Yankees.
