Spencer Jones Hits Home Run No. 9

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones hit his ninth home run of the Double-A regular season on Friday during their contest against Richmond. Jones went 1-for-4 at the plate with two walks and two punchouts. This outing also extended his current hitting streak to five games. During this stretch, he has gone deep twice and held a 9:6 K:BB. After an underwhelming season at Double-A last summer, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the Yankee system appears to be taking the next step in his development. Through the first 25 games of the 2025 campaign, Jones has held a .236/.382/.573 slash line, which is a strong improvement compared to the .259/.336/.452 line he held across 122 games at Double-A last summer. If Jones continues to hit for power, he could earn the call to Triple-A.

Spencer Jones Goes Deep Twice

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 3-for-5 with two round-trippers during their contest against Double-A Altoona on Thursday. This was Jones' second multi-home run contest over his previous four games. During this recent power surge, the No. 3-ranked prospect in the Bronx has held a .333/.368/1.000 line with seven RBI and two stolen bases. The 23-year-old spent the entire 2024 campaign with Double-A Somerset and struggled at times. Across 122 games, Jones posted a .259/.336/.452 line with 30 doubles and 17 home runs. However, through the first 12 games of the 2025 campaign, Jones is showing significant progress at Double-A as he has held a .273/.385/.636 line. If he continues to hit for power, he should get the call to Triple-A in the coming weeks.

Spencer Jones Hits Two Home Runs On Sunday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 3-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Reading on Sunday. This was Jones' second multi-hit game of the regular season. Through the first nine games of the Somerset Patriots' regular season, Jones has posted a strong .290/.421/.613 slash line with one double and three home runs. He has tallied seven RBI, scored eight runs, and swiped three bags. Jones is considered the No. 3 prospect in the Yankee system on MLB.com. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent the entire campaign with Double-A. Across 122 games, he held a modest .259/.336/.452 slash line with 17 long balls. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be in the mix for a promotion to Triple-A if he continues to produce.

Spencer Jones Reassigned To Minor-League Camp

The New York Yankees reassigned outfield prospect Spencer Jones to minor-league camp on Tuesday. Jones' first spring training with the Yankees ended with mixed results. On a positive note, the 6-foot-6 slugger finished 6-for-20 (.300) with two home runs, six RBI, and a stolen base over nine games, but on the downside, the left-handed hitter struck out in almost half of his plate appearances (45.5 percent). If it wasn't already a problem, then there wouldn't be much concern, but the former first-rounder struck out 36.8 percent of the time at Double-A last season. If he can continue to hit home runs and drive runs in, then it may not matter, but this season should be a good litmus test to see whether he's ready for the big time or not. Dynasty managers can't ignore the power, but if he struggles when he sees Triple-A pitching for the first time, then there may not be a reason to believe he'll be in the majors at any point in 2025.

Spencer Jones Homers, Collects Four RBI On Tuesday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones had a big day at the plate on Tuesday, going 3-for-3 in the 4-2 Grapefruit League victory over the Phillies. The 6-foot-6 slugger clubbed his second homer of the spring and also doubled on his way to a four-RBI day. The former first-round draft pick is now 6-for-14 (.429) in spring action, although he's not expected to be on the Opening Day roster with the Yankees currently set in the outfield with Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Jasson Dominguez, along with veteran Trent Grisham coming off the bench. The left-handed hitter displays some big-time power, blasting 17 home runs in 482 Double-A at-bats last season, but it comes with big-time swing-and-miss, as he owned a 36.8 percent strikeout rate in 2024 and has yet to see Triple-A pitching. Nevertheless, if he can make strides in that regard in 2025, we should expect to see him debut in the Bronx at some point this season. Power-needy managers will want to pounce whenever he gets the call, but know that the potential home runs may come at the cost of batting average.

Spencer Jones Launches Two-Run Shot In Spring Debut

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run during their loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon. Jones hit the home run off Toronto right-hander Eric Pardinho. Jones is considered one of the top hitting prospects in the Yankee system. Last summer, the Vanderbilt product held a .259/.336/.452 line with 30 doubles and 17 home runs. He swiped 25 bags but held a poor 54:200 BB:K ratio. During the 2023 campaign, the 23-year-old spent most of his season with High-A Hudson Valley and posted a .261/.333/.406 line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Jones' development as he could open the season with Triple-A. If he continues to flash this upside power, he may push for an MLB debut later this season.

Yankees Invite Spencer Jones To Spring Training

The New York Yankees announced on Wednesday that outfield prospect Spencer Jones will be a non-roster invite to major-league spring training. In addition to Jones, shortstop George Lombard, shortstop Roderick Arias, catcher Rafael Flores and pitcher Chase Hampton will be at MLB camp. The 23-year-old Jones is a towering left-handed slugger -- he stands at 6-foot-6, 235 pounds -- with loads of power potential and some surprising speed for his size. However, the former 25th overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft needs to make more contact in order to succeed at the next level. He hit .259/.336/.452 with 17 home runs, 78 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 122 games at Double-A Somerset last year, but his 36.8% strikeout rate was the worst mark for all qualified Double-A hitters. Jones probably won't ever hit for average in the big leagues, but he's an intriguing dynasty stash for his power/speed upside.

Spencer Jones Has Big Day For Double-A Somerset

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones launched a home run and drove in four runs for Double-A Somerset on Sunday. The 23-year-old slugger added two doubles for his three-hit afternoon. The Yankees' No. 2 prospect now has 13 homers and 58 RBI at Double-A this season while hitting .245. The 6-foot-6, 235-pounder also has 21 steals this year. The power-speed combination that Jones possesses is tantalizing for fantasy managers. It might come with a bit of batting-average risk but not every prospect has that kind of upside. Jones could be an interesting name to monitor over the next few years for redraft purposes.

Spencer Jones Getting Hot At Double-A

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones had a big finish in July at Double-A. This was a great sign as Jones started the month by tallying just three hits across seven games with a 3:14 BB:K ratio. However, in his past 13 games, the 23-year-old has held a much-improved .260/.356/.480 slash line with three doubles, one triple, three long balls, eight RBI, and three stolen bases. Overall, through his first extended look at Double-A pitching, Jones holds a .240/.323/.412 line with a rough 40:141 BB:K ratio. The center fielder will need to continue to drop his strikeout rate to earn a taste of Triple-A later this summer. Jones is considered the second-best prospect in the Yankee system on MLB.com and 72nd overall. He could have an opportunity to spend most of next summer at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Spencer Jones Slumping In July

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has been in a bit of a slump since the start of July after posting an excellent .296/.355/.546 line with six home runs, 29 RBI, and five stolen bases in June. Through the first nine games in July, the former 25th overall pick sits with a disappointing .135/.238/.297 line with just three extra-base hits. He has posted only one multi-hit game and five games without a hit. Overall, Jones has struggled to find consistency through his first extended look at Double-A after logging a small 17-game stint to close out last season. Jones is considered the 74th-best prospect in baseball and the second-best in the Yankee system on MLB.com but may have to wait until next summer to make his major league debut, given his struggles at Double-A.
