Jasson Domínguez News
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez (elbow) has increased his throwing to 120 feet. Dominguez began taking swings from both sides of the plate in mid-March and resumed hitting right-handed on Feb. 26. The 20-year-old switch-hitter is taking steps forward in his recovery from Sep. 20 Tommy John surgery back, and the Yankees believe he could play in minor-league rehab games sometime in April or May. Although there's a crowded outfield in the Bronx, Dominguez should be able to log consistent at-bats as the designated hitter and is expected to be available later this summer. After New York's No. 1 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, tantalized with a .258/.303/.677 triple-slash line, four home runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base across just 31 ABs a season ago, his progress is something fantasy managers need to keep a close eye on. Giancarlo Stanton is off to a rough 3-for-20 start and could eventually be pushed for DH playing time.
New York Yankees rookie outfielder Jasson Dominguez (elbow) took 20 swings off a tee on Monday in camp, his first time swinging a bat since having Tommy John surgery in September of last year. Dominguez expects to do the same thing again on Wednesday. Up to this point, the 21-year-old outfielder had only been shagging fly balls in the outfield. It's a good step for The Martian, but he has a long ways to go in his recovery from elbow surgery and isn't expected to make his 2024 debut until later this summer. Still, Dominguez is one of the most intriguing outfield prospects in the game and deserves to be stashed in mixed leagues for his power/speed combination. When healthy, he is expected to be New York's starting center fielder.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez (elbow) will start hitting on Monday, likely starting with tee work. However, Dominguez, a switch-hitter, will only hit from the right side for the first "couple of weeks" after having Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last year. "I'm sure it's a pretty slow progression," Boone said. The 21-year-old they call The Martian has been shagging fly balls in camp and doing some throwing, but the impressive young outfielder isn't expected to make his 2024 debut until around the All-Star break. In his MLB debut at the end of last year, Dominguez hit four homers in eight games. Because Dominguez truly has 15-15 potential in half a season, he's worth stashing in deep-mixed fantasy leagues despite the fact he's expected to miss the entire first half of the year.

New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez made his presence felt in his brief big-league debut in 2023, slugging four home runs in just eight games and 33 trips to the plate. He spent the bulk of his season in Double-A where he hit .254 with 15 HR and 37 stolen bases across 109 games, producing a much milder .160 isolated power in the process. However, a September elbow injury required Tommy John surgery, and Dominguez was given a 9-10 month recovery timetable, putting him out until at least mid-season. The Yankees made no bones about upgrading their outfield in the offseason in trades for the Padres' Juan Soto and Trent Grisham and former Red Sox rival Alex Verdugo. They now have four legitimate big-league outfielders on the roster. Even with a healthy return, it's uncertain how many at-bats will be available for the 21-year-old at the MLB level. Dynasty managers would be wise to draft and stash at a 533.36 ADP but redraft managers would be wise to look elsewhere within that range.
