Jasson Dominguez Expected to Play Regularly in 2026

MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is expected to play regularly in 2026, according to manager Aaron Boone. Dominguez may play winter ball this offseason to prepare him for next year, and the Yankees envision him in left field, depending on how the offseason goes. Boone also said during his season-ending press conference on Thursday that top outfield prospect Spencer Jones is in play to be a regular contributor at the big-league level next year. A lot has been expected of Dominguez since he arrived in the Bronx. The 22-year-old did lead the Yankees with 93 starts in left field in 2025, but he wasn't playing regularly late in the year and was a disappointment for his fantasy managers with a .257/.331/.388 slash line, 10 home runs, 47 RBI, 58 runs scored, and 23 stolen bases in 123 games in his first full big-league season. The switch-hitting Dominican still has the potential to be a post-hype sleeper, but competition will be fierce in New York.

Ryan McMahon, Jasson Dominguez Sitting Against Tough Lefty

New York Yankees third baseman Ryan McMahon and outfielder Jasson Dominguez will both start on the bench for Game 2 of the series in the Bronx against the division-rival Boston Red Sox with left-hander Garrett Crochet on the mound. Amed Rosario is starting at third base and will hit fifth, while Cody Bellinger shifts to left field and will bat out of the three-hole. McMahon is having a tough season at the plate, and it hasn't improved since he landed in New York. The 30-year-old has gone 7-for-48 since Aug. 2 and is batting .200 (20-for-100) with two of his 17 homers on the year and 38 strikeouts against lefties this year. Dominguez is a switch-hitter but has started only three of the team's last six games and is hitting .198 (18-for-91) with one of his nine home runs on the year against southpaws. Bellinger actually has four hits (one homer, two RBI) in eight career at-bats against Crochet.

Jasson Dominguez Out of Saturday's Lineup

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is not in the lineup for his team's game against the Houston Astros on Saturday. With Aaron Judge limited to designated hitter duties due to a right flexor strain, Giancarlo Stanton is starting in right field for New York. That pushes Cody Bellinger to left field and Dominguez to the bench. In 374 plate appearances so far this season, Dominguez is hitting .255/.332/.391 with nine home runs, 37 RBI, 50 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases. With Stanton now in the outfield mix, Dominguez could be at increased risk of losing playing time, particularly against left-handed pitching. The 22-year-old is a switch-hitter, but he's hitting just .198 with one home run in 102 plate appearances from the right side of the plate this season.

Jasson Dominguez Returns to Lineup on Sunday

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is back in the lineup, batting leadoff and playing left field for his team's Sunday afternoon game against the Atlanta Braves. Dominguez was on the bench for Saturday's game against Atlanta, with Cody Bellinger playing left field and Trent Grisham in center field. The Yankees continue to divide playing time in the outfield and at designated hitter between Dominguez, Grisham, Giancarlo Stanton, and Ben Rice. In 313 plate appearances, the 22-year-old Dominguez has slashed .262/.339/.411 with eight home runs, 34 RBI, 43 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. He remains a high-upside option in fantasy, but his somewhat sporadic usage with the Yankees has hurt his ability to rack up counting stats.

Jasson Dominguez Sitting Against Lefty

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez will take a seat for his team's Saturday game against the Chicago Cubs and left-handed start Matthew Boyd. Dominguez is off to a red-hot start in July, hitting .350 with five extra-base hits including two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases in 43 plate appearances. The 22-year-old rookie is a switch-hitter, but he's been much better against right-handed pitching. Dominguez is hitting .203 with one home run, six RBI, and a 32.2% strikeout rate in 90 plate appearances against lefties. Cody Bellinger will slide over and play left field in his absence, with Trent Grisham being inserted in center field.

Jasson Dominguez Snaps 33-Game Home Run Drought

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez went deep for the first time since May 21 in a 6-5 loss to the New York Mets on Friday. Dominguez led the game off with a homer against right-hander Justin Hagenman and added a two-run round-tripper in the fifth off righty Austin Warren. He ended the afternoon 2-for-4 with a walk. Dominguez has put together three consecutive multi-hit games and five in eight contests since June 25. That recent hot streak has raised the 22-year-old switch-hitter's line to .271/.350/.433 with eight homers, 33 RBI, 39 runs, and 14 steals over 283 trips to the plate. Dominguez, who has compiled the extreme majority of his production against righties, will face Mets RHP Frankie Montas on Saturday.

Jasson Dominguez Doubles Twice, Swipes Two Bags

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two steals in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the hosting Cincinnati Reds. He also singled twice and scored two runs. It was a career day for Dominguez, and the first time he's notched four hits in a contest. The two swipes bring him up to 12 on the season. The 22-year-old has been better overall in June, carrying a .281 average (16-for-57). However, he hasn't hit a ball out of the yard in over a month (May 21) and has seen his OPS dip nearly 200 points from May (.677). Dominguez is batting a fine .279 off right-handed pitching, but is struggling against southpaws (.200). He'll need to improve there to warrant playing time in a loaded Yankees outfield.

Jasson Dominguez Hitting Leadoff Against Angels

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is starting in left field and hitting out of the leadoff spot for Game 2 of the series in the Bronx against the visiting Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Dominguez returns to the lineup after sitting out in Monday's series opener, and he'll be batting higher than fifth in the order for the first time all year. Now that Giancarlo Stanton is back in action, the 22-year-old could find himself on the bench more often. The Dominican switch-hitter has put up modest numbers so far in his first full season with the Yankees, slashing .236/.324/.385 with six long balls, 26 RBI, 29 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 195 at-bats. The Martian has been cold in the month of June, too, going 7-for-35 (.200) with a double, two RBI and two steals in 10 games. He has never faced Hendricks.

Jasson Dominguez Sitting Out in Series Finale

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez will head to the bench for Monday's series opener versus the visiting Los Angeles Angels in the Bronx. Cody Bellinger is shifting over to left field and will hit cleanup against Angels right-hander Jose Soriano. Dominguez hasn't really lived up to his lofty expectations in his first full season in the big leagues in 2025 and is hitting .206 (7-for-34) with a double, two RBI and two steals with 10 strikeouts in his first nine games in June. Overall, he's slashing a mediocre .237/.326/.387 with a .712 OPS, six long balls, 26 RBI, 29 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 194 at-bats. The 22-year-old Dominican's .235 xBA doesn't bode well for a rebound in the second half of the season, either. Additionally, Giancarlo Stanton's return to the lineup could mean fewer at-bats for Dominguez going forward.

Jasson Dominguez Absent on Wednesday

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Dominguez will now head to the bench for the second time in the last three games. It's a bit odd to see Dominguez heading to the bench after a three-hit game on Tuesday. He's slashing .246/.340/.402 with six home runs and 25 RBI this season. The potential is through the roof, but it might take some time for Dominguez to adjust to the big league level. Regardless, he's worth rostering in most 12-team formats. Trent Grisham will cover center field and bat seventh versus left-hander Kris Bubic on Wednesday.
