Cam Schlittler to Resume Throwing on Tuesday

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler (back) is expected to resume throwing from the mound on Tuesday. The Yankees have been cautious with Schlittler, who is currently dealing with back inflammation. Schlittler should be fine in the long term, but the team doesn't want to risk aggravating the issue. For the time being, Schlittler is expected to be fully ready to go in time for Opening Day. He's coming off an excellent rookie campaign in 2025. He posted a 2.96 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and an 84/31 K/BB ratio in 14 starts. The 23-year-old is expected to be a mainstay in the Yankees' rotation in 2026.

Cam Schlittler Set for Productive Year 2 in Major Leagues?

New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Cam Schlittler is expected to begin the 2026 season as a key member of the New York rotation. The right-hander reached the major leagues in July and turned in an impressive rookie season. Across his first 73 innings in the Bronx, the right-hander held a 2.96 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. He struck out 84 batters but struggled to command his pitches, allowing free passes at a high 10.4% rate. He flashed immense upside in the postseason when he logged 14 1/3 innings to the tune of a stellar 1.26 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a perfect 14:0 K:BB. Schlittler began the 2025 season at Double-A but quickly progressed through the upper levels to join the Yankees in the second half. With Gerrit Cole (elbow) and Carlos Rodon (elbow) still working their way back from injuries, Schlittler is poised to open the season as a lead option in the rotation, behind veteran Max Fried.

Cam Schlittler Looking to Diversify his Arsenal This Offseason

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler said he's looking to develop a changeup or splitter this offseason to use below the strike zone against left-handed hitters, according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. Nothing has been decided yet, but pitching coach Matt Blake said a changeup is more likely. The 24-year-old had a highly successful first showing in the big leagues in 2025, posting a 2.96 ERA (3.74 FIP) with a 1.22 WHIP and 84 strikeouts in 73 innings over 14 starts. Schlittler really stood out in the Game 3 win over the division-rival Boston Red Sox in the Wild-Card Series, when he struck out 12 in eight scoreless innings. He mostly relied on his 98 mph four-seam fastball (55% usage) last year, while using a cutter 21% of the time and a curveball 15% of the time. Schlittler also has a sinker and a slider, but adding a changeup could make him more effective against lefties.

Cam Schlittler Dazzles in 12-Strikeout Performance, Yankees Advance to ALDS

New York Yankees rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler did much more than anyone expected of him in a 4-0 win over the division-rival Boston Red Sox in the Bronx on Thursday in Game 3 of the wild-card series to help the team advance to take on the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series. Schlitter was a force, going eight shutout innings with five hits allowed, no walks, and 12 strikeouts. The 24-year-old was missing bats on the regular, getting 18 swings and misses in the outstanding and clutch performance. He got the best of fellow Red Sox lefty Connelly Early, who gave up four runs (three earned) in just 3 2/3 frames while striking out six. With the dominant performance, Schlitter became the first rookie hurler to strike out over 10 hitters since Livan Hernandez did it in 1997. Not only was it the first time Schlittler had double-digit K's, but it was the most ever strikeouts for a Yankees rookie pitcher in a playoff game. It's going to be a tough act to follow in his second postseason start in the ALDS against Toronto.

Cam Schlittler Will Start Game 3 Against Red Sox

New York Yankees rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler will start Game 3 of the team's AL wild-card round series against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. He'll oppose Red Sox rookie lefty Connelly Early with the season on the line for the two storied franchises and archrivals. The winner of Thursday's contest will take on the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS. Boston took Game 1 and had a chance to close out the series on Wednesday, but the Yankees instead came out on top in a 4-3 nail-biter. They'll now rely on Schlittler, who has excelled since his first promotion to the majors in early July. The 24-year-old Massachusetts native earned his way into the Yankees' playoff rotation after going 4-3 with a 2.96 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 84:31 K:BB in 14 starts and 73 innings during the regular season.

Cam Schlittler Mows Down Orioles in Win

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler (4-3) shut down the Baltimore Orioles to collect his fourth win of the season in a 6-1 victory on Saturday. The hard-throwing 24-year-old tossed seven scoreless, two-hit innings with a career-high nine strikeouts and one walk on 97 pitches to wrap up an impressive rookie campaign. After earning a promotion to the majors on July 9, Schlittler went on to record a sterling 2.96 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP, 84 strikeouts, and 31 walks over 14 starts and 73 innings. Schlittler pitched so well that he'll likely head into the postseason as the Yankees' No. 3 starter behind left-handers Max Fried and Carlos Rodon.

Cam Schlittler Records Eight Strikeouts

New York Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler remained excellent on the mound during Saturday's outing against the Chicago White Sox. Coming into this game, Schlittler had thrown back-to-back scoreless outings. He did give up a run in this game, but still looked solid on the mound. Schlittler tossed six innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight batters in the no-decision. This is now three straight performances where Schlittler has recorded eight strikeouts. He has been excellent, especially in the month of August. His next scheduled start will come against the Toronto Blue Jays next week. Schlittler deserves to be rostered in most fantasy formats at the moment.

Cam Schlittler Punches Out Six on Wednesday

New York Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Cam Schlittler struck out six hitters in a no-decision against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday evening. The right-hander logged five innings of one-run ball. He allowed only two hits and two walks. Most of his damage came in the fourth inning when Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton knocked a double and eventually scored on a Luke Keaschall RBI groundout. Since the start of August (three starts), Schlittler has posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 15:5 K:BB across 15 innings of work. In his first three starts in the majors, he held a higher 4.91 ERA with a 1.84 WHIP. Given his strong production in August, fantasy managers should expect the Northeast product to remain in the starting rotation for the time being. He is lined up to face the Tampa Bay Rays in his next start.

Max Fried, Cam Schlittler to Start Against Blue Jays

The New York Yankees plan to have left-hander Max Fried (finger) make his first start of the second half of the season in Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays in Canada, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. Meanwhile, rookie Cam Schlittler (arm), who has been dealing with arm soreness, is scheduled to start on Tuesday, while left-hander Carlos Rodon will go in the series opener on Monday. Fried avoided a trip to the injured list after he was pulled from his start early last Saturday against the Cubs due to a blister on his left index finger. The 31-year-old All-Star has been excellent in his first year in the Bronx with an 11-3 record, 2.43 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 113 K's in 20 starts, but he'll be a much riskier fantasy play next week on the road against the first-place Jays. Schlittler will be even shakier as a DFS streamer in just his second career MLB start.

Cam Schlittler Expected to Pitch in Toronto Despite Arm Soreness

New York Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler (arm) is expected to pitch in Toronto despite reporting upper arm soreness over the All-Star break. Imaging came back clean after he was scratched from Friday's scheduled start. In his MLB debut earlier this month, Schlittler struck out seven but allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings. With a projected start next week against the Blue Jays and Phillies, the rookie offers strikeout potential but carries risk. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues may consider him a volatile two-start streamer.
