Spencer Jones "in the Conversation" to be Everyday Player for Yankees in 2026

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has put himself "in the conversation" to be an everyday big-leaguer in 2026, according to general manager Brian Cashman. Jones is definitely on the rise and has an exciting blend of power and speed for fantasy managers, but it might be hard for the Yankees to fit the 24-year-old left-handed slugger in their big-league lineup regularly, barring injuries. Jones is listed as the No. 99 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. Standing at a hulking 6-foot-7, 240 pounds, he's a hulking physical specimen with elite power/speed upside. He hit .274/.362/.571 with 35 home runs and 29 stolen bases in 2025 with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, which was great, but it also came with a strikeout rate of 35.4%. The swing and miss in his game is concerning and could be exposed even more in the majors, but it's not often this kind of power/speed upside comes along.

Spencer Jones Hits Slump at Triple-A

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has hit a brief skid at Triple-A. Over his last eight games, Jones has only gone deep once and held a modest .228/.226/.452 slash line with a hefty 14:0 K:BB. Throughout his last 28 games, Jones has seen similar struggles, holding a low .196/.261/.336 line with just three long balls and four doubles. However, before this slump, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Yankee system flashed immense power upside. In his first 19 games at Triple-A, Jones posted an impressive .400/.457/.950 line with five doubles, 13 home runs, and six stolen bases. Earlier in the season, Jones held a .983 OPS across 49 games with Double-A. If Jones can break this slump, he could be in the mix to join the Yankees late in the regular season.

Spencer Jones Blasts Homer Wednesday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. Jones got the scoring started in the game with a 443-foot blast off starter Alek Manoag in the top of the first inning. It was the lefty slugger's second home run of August after he belted 11 in July. Overall, it hasn't been a kind stretch for Jones, as he is slashing .159/.250/.261 with a 7:26 BB:K ratio in 69 at-bats. Predictably, Jones has fared much worse against same-handed pitchers this year, with a .719 OPS against lefties compared to a 1.058 OPS against righties. Jones has still been incredible at Triple-A this season despite the glaring hit tool concerns, and it wouldn't be too surprising if he were given a shot in the majors before the season ends.

Spencer Jones Swipes a Bag in Fourth Straight Game

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has been in a bit of a slump at the plate but has still made an impact at Triple-A. Over his last four contests, the budding star has stolen at least one base in each game. During this four-game stretch, Jones has gone just 2-for-12 at the dish with no extra-base hits. However, prior to this minor skid, Jones was flashing immense power at the top level of the minor leagues. Through his first 16 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Jones held an impressive .426/.481/.941 slash line with five doubles and 10 long balls. Earlier this season, Jones spent the first half with Double-A Somerset and launched 16 long balls across a 49-game stint. Even though Aaron Judge is back in action, Jones remains a top hitting prospect to stash as he would carry immense power upside when given the call to the Bronx.

Spencer Jones Records One Hit, Two Stolen Bases in Second Game Returning from Injury

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 1-for-3 with a strikeout in his second game returning from a back spasms injury that held him out for a game. He appears to be just fine after going 2-for-4 with a double on Tuesday and swiping two bases tonight. The 6'7" lefty hitter has been crushing the ball in July, hitting .419/.477/.946 with 11 homers, seven steals, and a 9:20 BB:K ratio in 74 at-bats. The whiffs have still been at an untenable rate for the season, with a whopping 17.7 percent swinging strike rate and 66.8 percent contact rate. The power upside is undeniable, but there are still plenty of concerns with the hit tool. With how dominant he's been, however, there is a chance we see him in the majors at some point this season.

Yankees Aren't Calling Up Spencer Jones Yet

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones is currently not a candidate to replace the injured Aaron Judge (elbow) on the team's roster, Andy Martino of SNY reports. Judge will miss at least the next 10 days with a right flexor strain, which could have cleared a path for Jones. The 24-year-old is dealing with back spasms, though, and that's the main reason why he's not on his way to the majors. At 6-7, 240 pounds, Jones is a hulking slugger who has drawn comparisons to Judge. He has been on a Judge-like tear in the minors this season between Double-A and Triple-A, where he has combined to slash .314/.411/.706 with 29 homers, 57 RBI, 69 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases in 302 plate appearances. Thanks to his otherworldly production this year, the Yankees have deemed Jones borderline untouchable in trades as the July 31 deadline nears, according to Martino.

Spencer Jones Sitting With Back Spasms

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones (back) is not in Friday's starting lineup as he is dealing with back spasms. However, Jack Curry of the YES Network noted that his absence is not related to a potential trade. Jones has been one of the most productive power hitters in the minors this season and is knocking on the MLB door. Jones opened the season with Double-A but needed just 49 games to prove he was ready to move up to the top level as he launched 16 long balls with a .983 OPS. Through his first 19 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Jones has hit an incredible 13 home runs and swiped six bags. Even though the Yankee outfield is quite crowded, Jones' elite power upside could still warrant a promotion. For now, he is worth stashing in all 12+ team five-outfielder leagues.

Spencer Jones Smashes Three More Home Runs on Thursday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones has been white hot at the plate during his time at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but he outdid himself on Thursday. The Yanks' fourth-ranked prospect homered in his first three plate appearances, finishing the day 3-for-5 with four RBI. The 6-foot-7 slugger is now hitting .400 (32-for-80) with 13 home runs and a 1.407 OPS in 19 games for the RailRiders, with six steals to boot. The former first-rounder is making the case for a major league debut, but we'll likely need to get past the trade deadline before we see him in New York. There's potential for a lot of strikeouts and low batting average in the majors, but fantasy managers in deeper leagues in need of some power production that have an NA slot to spare should consider stashing Jones ahead of his eventual call-up.

Spencer Jones Mashes Two More Home Runs on Sunday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, and four runs scored on Sunday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 6-foot-7 slugger is scorching for the RailRiders, homering in three straight contests and now hitting .426 with ten home runs and a smoldering 1.422 OPS through 16 games at Triple-A. The Yanks' second-ranked prospect still has an elevated strikeout rate of 26.6 percent, but with this type of power display, it shouldn't hinder his chances of receiving a call-up in the coming weeks. Managers in deep leagues and AL-only leagues should consider stashing the 24-year-old ahead of an eventual call-up, which could come sooner rather than later at this type of pace.

Spencer Jones Belts Seventh Triple-A Home Run

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones belted his seventh Triple-A home run for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a 1-for-4 day at the plate on Sunday. The Yankees' second-ranked prospect has flourished since being promoted in late June, slashing .362/.426/.776 through 14 games at Triple-A. The 24-year-old is slashing .296/.399/.639 with 23 home runs and 16 steals on the season, and could push for a second-half call-up to the majors. If he gets the call, he could provide fantasy managers with some power numbers, but with a history of elevated strikeout rates, expectations should be tempered whenever the 6-foot-7 slugger does debut.
