Mauricio Dubon, Cam Smith Both Resting on Saturday

Houston Astros infielder Mauricio Dubon and rookie outfielder Cam Smith will both start on the bench for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Ramon Urias will make the start for the 'Stros at second base and hit eighth against Yankees right-hander Luis Gil. Jose Altuve is serving as the designated hitter and will bat third, with Taylor Trammell in left field and Jesus Sanchez in right field. Dubon will continue to get at-bats at the keystone for Houston, and he has a hit in each of his last four games played. Smith has gone 4-for-23 with an RBI and five K's in six games so far in August. Sanchez is the one you want to target for DFS lineups on Saturday over Trammell. He has never faced Gil in his career but has gone 8-for-29 (.276) with four doubles and an RBI in his first seven games after the Astros acquired him from the Marlins at the trade deadline.

Jose Altuve, Cam Smith Resting on Wednesday

Houston Astros outfielders Jose Altuve and Cam Smith are both out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Cooper Hummel is making the start in left field and is batting seventh, while Chas McCormick is in right and is hitting eighth versus Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. This will be Altuve's first day off since June 10. The 35-year-old nine-time All-Star continues to produce despite moving to the outfield in 2025, as he's currently batting .280 (106-for-378) with 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 55 runs and six stolen bases. He's also been hot lately, going 13-for-36 (.361) with a homer, four doubles and three RBI in the last nine games over 14 days. Hummel has faded into more of a part-time role in Houston's outfield in recent weeks, with more playing time given to both McCormick and Taylor Trammell.

Cam Smith Stays Hot in Loss

Houston Astros outfielder Cam Smith posted another productive performance in a 7-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. The 22-year-old rookie finished a home run short of the cycle in a 3-for-5, three-RBI game. He now has three straight multi-hit games and six in his past seven contests. Smith understandably got off to a slow start over the first few weeks of the season as he adjusted to the bigs. Now, just one year removed from going in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Smith has established himself as a quality regular. He's slashing .291/.359/.445 with seven homers, 38 RBI, 34 runs scored, and four steals in 281 trips to the plate. Smith ranks in the top 25 percent of hitters in xwOBA and xBA, making his output all the more impressive.

Cam Smith Doubles, Homers Twice, Drives in Three on Tuesday

Houston Astros outfielder Cam Smith had a huge game in his team's 13-3 win over the Athletics on Tuesday. Smith went 4-for-5 with a double, two homers, three runs, and three RBI in the lopsided victory. The rookie outfielder notched a pair of solo homers off Athletics starter JP Sears, one in the second inning and one in the fourth. Smith is now hitting .266 with 12 doubles, five homers, 26 runs, 26 RBI, and three stolen bases across 199 at-bats on the season. With two homers and nine RBI over his past seven games, Smith is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues while he is on a hot streak.

Cam Smith Launches Two Home Runs in Victory

Houston Astros third baseman/outfielder Cam Smith went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three runs, and three RBI during their victory over the Athletics on Tuesday evening. Smith would launch his first long ball of the contest in the second frame, which was a solo shot off Athletics left-hander JP Sears. Then in the fourth, Smith would hit another solo blast off Spears. In the final frame, Smith would conclude his evening with an RBI double, which scored Christian Walter. This was also Smith's second-straight game tallying at least one extra-base hit and fifth-straight game tallying at least one hit. Since June 1, Smith has posted a solid .286/.300/.490 line has begun to find his footing in the majors. Over his first 45 games, Smith held a .260/.347/.387 line. Given his increasing power production, Smith is worth adding in all standard leagues as he should continue to see an everyday role in the starting lineup.

Cam Smith Delivers Walk-Off Single

Houston Astros infielder/outfielder Cam Smith came up clutch for his team during Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Smith has been quiet to start his pro career, but has been heating up lately. Over his last six games, Smith is 8-for-28 at the plate with six RBI. He was held in check at the plate on Sunday until he came up in the bottom of the ninth. Smith smacked a grounder through the infield and delivered the game-winning run in the final frame. He finished his day going 1-for-4 with that walkoff single. It has been a slow start for Smith, but maybe this will help get him going at the plate.

Cam Smith Feeling Better, Back in Lineup

Houston Astros rookie outfielder Cam Smith (illness) is returning to right field and will bat sixth on Sunday against the hosting Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Tanner Bibee at Progressive Field. Smith returns to Houston's starting lineup after missing the last two games due to an illness. Fantasy managers might want to keep the young outfielder on their benches, though, since the 22-year-old has only one hit with eight strikeouts in his last 17 at-bats. After tearing it up in spring training in the Grapefruit League, last year's 14th overall selection out of Florida State has struggled in his first MLB regular season with only three home runs, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases in 163 at-bats. He has walked 17 times and fanned 54 times in his 183 plate appearances. Smith has not faced Bibee this year before Sunday.

Cam Smith Out For Second Straight Game

Houston Astros outfielder Cam Smith is out of the starting lineup once again ahead of Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers. Smith finds himself on the bench for the second straight game after starting four straight games prior to this. The right-handed slugger has struggled early with a .214/.313/.347 slash line with three homers and 11 RBI this season. Possibly, the Astros send Smith back to Triple-A if they decide he isn't going to play everyday. For now, Zach Dezenzo will start in right field and bat seventh versus right-hander Jacob deGrom on Thursday. Smith isn't worth rostering in most formats at the moment until he gets back on track.

Cam Smith Takes A Seat On Wednesday

Houston Astros outfielder Cam Smith is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This appears to be a regular off day for Smith who has started in each of the last four games. During that span, Smith collected three hits with one RBI and three walks. The Astros have high hopes for Smith that he can be legitimate threat in this lineup soon. Right now, Smith is struggling with a .214/.313/.347 slash line with three homers and 11 RBI coming into Wednesday's contest. He is only worth a look in deep leagues at the moment. Zach Dezenzo will take over in right field and bat eighth versus right-hander Michael Lorenzen on Wednesday.

Cam Smith Sitting Again On Friday

Houston Astros outfielder Cam Smith is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Cincinnati Reds at Daikin Park. Zach Dezenzo will man right field and will hit seventh against Reds right-hander Nick Martinez. This will be the second straight game and the fourth out of the last six contests that Smith has started on the bench for Houston. After dominating in spring training, the 22-year-old former 14th overall pick last year by the Chicago Cubs out of Florida State is hitting just .212 (18-for-85) with three homers, 10 RBI, nine runs and a steal in his first 26 MLB regular-season games. He's struck out 29 times and walked only nine times. If Smith's struggles continue, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the Astros send him back to the farm to make some adjustments. Dezenzo has a hit and two RBI in three career at-bats against Martinez.
