Colorado Rockies right-handed reliever Peter Lambert (thumb) was injured in his relief appearance on Thursday against the visiting New York Mets in the fourth inning after Francisco Lindor hit a line drive with an exit velocity of 106.7 mph off of Lambert's glove. The liner was converted into a double play, but Lambert's left thumb was bruised in the process. "It ballooned up as the outing went on," manager Bud Black said. "It got to the point where it was becoming a little bit of a distraction for him to pitch, so that's why we got him out of there. We took X-rays, and they were negative. But it's severely bruised, and it hurts." The 27-year-old struck out three in his three innings of work on Thursday but is unlikely to be available on Friday and could land on the 15-day injured list. He has not been a fantasy asset in 2024 with a 5.98 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 44:23 K:BB in 52 2/3 innings for the Rockies.
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Peter Lambert is being removed from the starting rotation per manager Bud Black. Southpaw Ty Blanch is slated to replace him. Lambert has posted a hefty 7.61 ERA and 1.69 WHIP through 23 innings this season with 20 total strikeouts. Lamber has started just three games this season with a 16.39 ERA and 2.46 WHIP. Blanch has typically been in a bullpen role throughout the majority of this season but has started one game. In his one start on April 24, he tossed five innings of four-run ball against the San Diego Padres. Blanch should be left on your waiver wire and should only be deployed in NL-only formats in favorable matchups.
The Colorado Rockies recalled starting pitcher Peter Lambert from Triple-A on Thursday, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. The right-hander has 34 1/3 Major League innings and one start under his belt this season, posting a 6.29 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 23.5% strikeout rate. Lambert will likely start Friday's contest against Braxton Garrett and the Miami Marlins. With the 26-year-old joining the rotation, the club is moving Connor Seabold to the bullpen. He's pitched to an ugly 7.18 ERA with just 54 strikeouts across 72 2/3 innings and fantasy holds no value in any format.
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Peter Lambert (elbow), who will open the 2023 season in Triple-A Albuquerque's starting rotation, will be on a limited early season pitch count since he had minimal action in 2022 after having Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in 2020. He went 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA in four Cactus League outings, but he looks healthy. The 25-year-old is hoping he can be of use to the Rockies at some point in 2023. "I'm feeling really good -- my elbow, especially," Lambert said. "I feel healthy. I feel strong. And my feel is definitely coming back. Early in camp it was kind of sporadic, and I had a lot of walks. But my last two times, especially, I was much better and more around the zone."
Colorado Rockies right-hander Peter Lambert (elbow) is still dealing with the effects of Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in 2020 and remains on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Albuquerque. There remains no timetable for when he'll return to game action. The Rockies were hoping that the former second-round pick could provide some pitching depth this year, but the setbacks continue to happen. In four minor league appearances, he has a 6.23 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings, with his last outing coming on June 1 when he gave up five runs and seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. If Lambert is able to return to the Rockies this year, it could be in a relief role, limiting his fantasy appeal.
Colorado Rockies right-hander Peter Lambert (forearm) started for Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday night and was scheduled to pitch just one inning as he builds his strength back up. Lambert allowed a run on two hits while walking one and striking out one. He threw 14 of his 21 total pitches for strikes. Manager Bud Black said that he expects Lambert to be fully stretched out and ready to join the starting rotation within a month, if needed. The 25-year-old missed all of 2020 and most of last year while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and he fought through right forearm inflammation in spring training, causing him to open the regular season on the injured list. It's not a guarantee that he'll join the Rockies rotation when he's fully healthy.
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said that right-hander Peter Lambert (forearm), who is currently at the team's spring training facility in Arizona, had "a little bit of a flareup" in his forearm several weeks ago. Lambert is throwing and will progress to mound work shortly, however. The 25-year-old had Tommy John surgery in 2020 and made two starts last year, but the Rockies are being careful with his workload and pace of innings. The team is hoping that Lambert can return to the starting rotation at some point this year. For now, fantasy managers can continue to leave him to the waiver wire in mixed leagues.
The Colorado Rockies have placed right-handed pitcher Peter Lambert (forearm) on the 10-day injured list due to right forearm inflammation. The 24-year-old wasn't able to make any appearances this spring as he had been experiencing elbow pain around the time the lockout came to an end. Lambert has made 21 starts with the Rockies dating back to 2019 and he has struggled to the tune of a 7.48 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP. The Rockies also played Ryan Rolison (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list on Monday and selected the contract of relief pitcher Ty Blach.
The Colorado Rockies are being cautious with right-hander Peter Lambert (elbow) after he had some pain in his elbow toward the end of the lockout. Lambert is fine now and will throw a live batting practice session on Monday, but he's recovering from Tommy John surgery in July of 2020. The 24-year-old allowed seven earned runs in two starts over 5 2/3 innings last year in his return, but given his setback early this year, he's unlikely to begin the 2022 season in the Rockies starting rotation. Lambert had a 7.25 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, a 10% strikeout rate and a 6.7% walk rate in 19 starts covering 89 1/3 innings in his rookie season in 2019. For now, fantasy managers can leave him to the waiver wire.
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Peter Lambert took a no-decision on Wednesday when he allowed five runs on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout over two-plus innings. Lambert had another rough go in his second start of the season, surrendering five runs over his two-plus innings. The Nationals hit a ton of singles and doubles off him and capitalized with runners in scoring position. Luckily this game turned into a bit of a shootout and the Rockies stormed back to take the lead, letting Lambert off the hook. Through just two starts (5 2/3 innings), the 24-year-old has compiled an 11.12 ERA, 2.47 WHIP, and 3:2 K/BB ratio. Yikes.
