Carson Palmquist Takes Home Player Of The Week Honors

After a dominant performance to open the month of July, Colorado Rockies pitching prospect Carson Palmquist has won the Player of the Week honors in the Eastern League as a member of Double-A Hartford. Palmquist was stellar over seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball, that saw him send down 13 batters via the strikeout with one walk. The 23-year-old has been a strikeout machine since being selected in the third-round of the 2022 MLB draft and has recorded 92 strikeouts in 65 2/3 innings this season. The left-hander is the ranked as the No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline and offers plenty of control with a funky sidearm delivery, but some scouts project that he may be best off as a reliever in the future. For now, Palmquist is nothing more then a watch-list candidate in dynasty formats.

Carson Palmquist Solid Over Five Innings For Double-A Hartford

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Carson Palmquist fanned five over five innings of work on Thursday for Double-A Hartford. He allowed two runs on five hits, adding to his impressive strikeout total. His 74 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings give him the highest strikeout rate in Double-A this season. The No. 14 prospect for the Rockies is (4-2) with a 3.02 ERA this year for the Yard Goats. The 6-foot-3 left-hander is not a flamethrower, but his deceptiveness often makes it challenging for hitters to make contact. The high strikeout rate is precisely what fantasy managers look for in a starting pitcher. While pitching at Coors Field makes for a scary proposition, Palmquist has the tools to be a successful big-league pitcher when he does get the opportunity.

Carson Palmquist Tosses Six-Inning Gem

Colorado Rockies pitching prospect Carson Palmquist threw six shutout innings on Friday. He allowed only four hits, one free pass, and struck out ten. The number 15 overall prospect in the Colorado system has been dominant to begin the season as he has yet to allow a run and holds a minuscule 0.94 WHIP across 16 innings at Double-A. This is a vast improvement compared to the 22 innings he logged at Double-A last season, where he posted a 4.43 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. Palmquist is a name worth monitoring in dynasty leagues and could make a push for a late-season promotion if he continues to dominate the minor leagues.
