The right-hander had a 5.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 39 strikeouts and 10 walks in 38 2/3 relief innings for the White Sox before he was traded at midseason. Heuer's injury is a big loss for the Cubs, as they were likely planning to use him as a late-inning setup man to closer Rowan Wick. Heuer has made 40 appearances this season, going 4-1 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.422 WHIP and 23.5 percent strikeout rate across 38 2/3 innings of work. Heuer is unlikely to have any value outside of SV/HLD formats through the rest of this season. Meanwhile Madrigal now looks set to be the starting second baseman for the Cubs in 2022.
