Colby Thomas Blasts Two-Run Homer On Thursday

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against Triple-A El Paso on Thursday. The 24-year-old crushed a 429-foot home run to bring his season slash line to a scorching .313/.376/.577. Thomas now ranks second in all the minor leagues with six home runs in May. The former Mercer product's quality of contact metrics also looks strong, with an 11% Barrel% and flashing a 115.9 MPH MaxEV. For perspective, that mark would rank just outside the top 10 for the highest in MLB. Thomas should be expected to be promoted sometime in the early summer, and his upside makes him worthy of picking up. He is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Athletics system on MLB.com.

Colby Thomas Has Two Home Runs In Three-Hit Game

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas is the latest A's prospect hurtling towards the major leagues after he registered two home runs and a double in a 3-for-6 day at the plate on Tuesday for Triple-A Las Vegas. The 24-year-old also collected two RBI and three runs scored in the contest. Over the last seven games, the Athletics' second-ranked prospect has tallied five multi-hit efforts, pushing his season-long slash line to .305/.370/.557 with seven home runs, 25 RBI, 27 runs scored, and two stolen bases. The former third-round draft pick hasn't hit less than .272 at any level since his ascension from Single-A back in 2023, and last season he belted 31 home runs in 132 games between Double and Triple-A. The right-handed slugger looks to be on track for a mid-season call-up, and those looking for a power boost should consider him as he'll be playing in a formidable A's lineup in addition to calling hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park home when not on the road.

Colby Thomas Stays Hot On Friday

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas stayed hot at the plate on Friday evening. During their contest against Triple-A Tacoma, Thomas went 2-for-3 with a home run. This outing extended his hitting streak to four games. During this stretch, Thomas has gone deep twice and posted three multi-hit games, including a three-hit game on April 30. Before this surge, Thomas held a modest .208/.240/.292 slash line over his last five contests. After spending most of the 2024 campaign with Triple-A Las Vegas, Thomas has looked quite comfortable at this level early in the 2025 campaign. Through his first 29 contests, Thomas has posted a .299/.371/.504 slash line with seven doubles and five home runs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 24-year-old's progression as he should be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the coming months.

Colby Thomas Heating Up At Triple-A

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas has had a solid start to the Triple-A campaign, slashing .276/.364/.460 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored, and two stolen bases through 22 games. The former third-round draft pick has been swinging the bat particularly well over the last 10 contests, going 13-for-44 (.295), so he could be the next big prospect call-up for the A's in the coming months. Their second-ranked prospect showed well at Triple-A last season as well, slashing .272/.344/.559 with 17 home runs in 73 games (14 at Double-AA, too), and appears to be ready to make the next jump. Managers in AL-only leagues in need of a power boost could consider stashing the 24-year-old ahead of his eventual call-up, which is likely to happen around midseason.

Colby Thomas Swinging A Hot Bat At Triple-A

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas has been off to an impressive start to the Triple-A regular season. On Tuesday, Thomas enjoyed his best outing of the campaign as he tallied three hits, including a home run and a triple. This was his first three-hit game of the season. Through the first nine games of the campaign, Thomas has held a .314/.400/.600 slash line with two doubles, one triple, and two round-trippers. Last summer, Thomas spent 73 games with Triple-A Las Vegas and posted a strong .272/.344/.559 slash line with 25 doubles and 17 home runs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he should be in the mix for an early-season MLB debut. He is worth stashing in AL-only formats as he may only need another few weeks with Triple-A.

Colby Thomas Enjoying Hot Start

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas has gone 3-for-9 at the plate with a home run and two RBI across his first three games of the Triple-A regular season. He has tallied at least one hit in each game and has held a 3:3 BB:K. The Mercer product was in the mix for a spot on the Opening Day roster during camp, but instead, the Athletics opted for him to continue his development in the minor leagues. Last summer, Thomas split his season between Double-A and Triple-A. In 59 games at Double-A, Thomas posted a .282/.340/.568 line with 19 doubles and 14 home runs. Then, across his first 73 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, the 24-year-old posted a .272/.344/.559 line. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to monitor his progression as he could push for an early-season MLB debut.

Colby Thomas Returns To Action

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas (knee) returned to Cactus League action this weekend. Last week, Thomas suffered a knee injury after being hit by a line drive. However, after sitting out for a few days, Thomas was cleared to return. The Mercer product was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but was previously assigned to minor-league camp. Through 16 games this spring, Thomas has posted a .182/.379/.364 slash line with a 5:6 BB:K and one stolen base. The former third-round selection is considered the No. 7-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. Last season, Thomas began the campaign at Double-A and eventually made his Triple-A debut. At the top level of the minor leagues, Thomas posted an impressive .272/.344/.559 slash line across 73 contests. If he continues this production at Triple-A, he should push for a relatively early 2025 MLB debut.

X-Rays Come Back Negative On Colby Thomas

The X-rays came back negative on Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas (knee). Thomas exited Saturday's spring training contest early after being struck by a line drive while at third base. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears that this injury is not overly serious. However, the team may keep Thomas sidelined for a few games out of precaution. Thomas is considered one of the top prospects in the Athletics system. Last season, the Mercer production opened the campaign by making his Double-A debut. Across 59 games, he held a strong .282/.340/.568 line. He was then promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas where he posted a .272/.344/.559 slash line. Fantasy managers should expect Thomas to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A but he should be in the mix for an early-season MLB debut given his success at Triple-A last summer.

Colby Thomas Sustains Injury On Saturday

Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas (knee) exited Saturday's contest after being hit by a hard liner in his right knee. Thomas needed help from a trainer to leave the game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team will likely provide an update after he goes through testing. Thomas is considered the No. 3 prospect in their system on MLB.com. Last season, Thomas opened the season by making his Double-A debut. Across 59 contests, he held a .282/.340/.568 slash line with 19 doubles and 14 home runs. He was then promoted to Triple-A where he held a similar .272/.344/.559 line with 25 doubles and 17 round-trippers. Given his success at Triple-A last summer, the Mercer product will likely be in the mix for an early MLB debut during the 2025 campaign.

Colby Thomas Stays Hot At Triple-A

Oakland Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas has stayed hot at Triple-A and is continuing to make a strong case to see time in the big leagues later this summer. Since July 21, the Mercer product has been riding a stellar .404/.455/.894 slash line with five round-trippers, eight doubles and 11 RBI. Since joining Triple-A Las Vegas on June 18, Thomas has posted a strong .314/.391/.614 line with nine home runs and 27 RBI. Since making his professional debut in the 2023 season, Thomas has progressed through the minor leagues very quickly and is knocking on the major league door. The number 11-ranked prospect in the Oakland system on MLB.com is someone to keep a close eye on as he is approaching stash territory.
