Colin Selby Fantasy Stats

Pittsburgh Pirates rookie right-hander Colin Selby will make the start on Saturday against the visiting Chicago Cubs, with rookie right-hander Osvaldo Bido expected to be the bulk-relief pitcher. Selby has made only seven relief appearances for the Pirates in his first MLB season and hasn't gone more than two innings in any of his outings, so he obviously should be avoided as a fantasy streamer on Saturday. In 8 2/3 innings, he's allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits (two homers) while walking six and fanning 13. Bido should be able to go longer in this contest if he's effective. In his first 13 big-league outings (eight starts), he's given up 27 runs (25 earned) on 47 hits (four homers) while walking 15 and striking out 43 in 44 1/3 frames.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up right-handers Colin Selby and Thomas Hatch from the minors on Tuesday, according to sources. Selby will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. The 25-year-old earned the call-up by posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, six saves, 22 walks and 41 strikeouts in 30 1/3 relief innings at Triple-A Indianapolis. Hatch, 28, was claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday and will be making his debut for the Pirates out of the bullpen. In 6 1/3 innings of relief for Toronto, he allowed five runs (three earned) on 10 hits while walking five and striking out 10. Both Selby and Hatch will give Pittsburgh some bullpen reinforcements, but they are off the fantasy radar.
