Davis Martin Fantasy Stats

Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said on Wednesday that right-hander Davis Martin (calf) was hindered by right-calf discomfort in 2026, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. "I think it's very clear that he was hindered and wasn't himself," Getz said. Martin said that he battled calf issues off and on since April. The 29-year-old finished the year going 9-8 overall with a career-best 3.95 ERA (3.83 FIP), and 1.31 WHIP with a career-best 122 strikeouts and 46 walks in 146 innings pitched over 29 appearances (28 starts). Martin's calf injury apparently bothered him more as the season progressed, as he had a sharp 2.00 ERA with 71 strikeouts and 14 walks in his first 67 2/3 innings before sporting an ERA closer to 6.00 with 51 strikeouts and 32 walks in 78 1/3 innings pitched to close out the year. The White Sox did not trust him enough to use him as a starter during the postseason, as Martin pitched just one inning out of the bullpen and gave up two runs. With extended rest during the offseason, Martin should come into spring training in 2027 fully healthy and ready to bounce back.

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin had a very strong first half of the season, already setting a personal best with nine wins in his 18 starts while posting a 3.41 ERA through 100 1/3 innings. His K% is up from last year, and he has been especially effective at home with a 1.80 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. However, despite his overall success, Martin has some concerning underlying metrics. He has a 4.31 xERA as a result of a 43.8% hard-hit rate against him, which ranks only in the 12th percentile of qualified pitchers. He's also in the bottom 20 percent of pitchers in terms of xBA and average exit velocity allowed. He gave up five runs in his last start against the Red Sox and has allowed at least four runs in four of his last nine starts. He could be due for some regression in the second half, so if you can flip him to a team that needs pitching for an option with better metrics, Martin's value may be near its peak.

MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports that Chicago White Sox right-hander Davis Martin (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list and start on Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. Martin will be returning to a 2-7 record, 3.79 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and just 53 strikeouts in 80 2/3 innings pitched over his 14 appearances (13 starts) for the Pale Hose in 2025. The 28-year-old made two minor-league rehab starts with Triple-A Charlotte and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five in 5 2/3 innings pitched. Martin initially landed on the IL back on June 12, so he probably isn't going to be able to give fantasy managers much length in his first start back in the bigs. The former 14th-rounder went at least six innings in each of his last six starts for the White Sox, but he also has a career-low 15.9% strikeout rate that leaves a lot to be desired.

Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said on Monday that he expects starting pitcher Davis Martin (forearm) to begin a rehab assignment this week. Further specifics were not provided. Martin was placed on the 15-day injured list in the middle of June due to a right forearm strain. The 28-year-old had gotten some good results before his injury, going 2-7 with a 3.79 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a 15.9% strikeout rate in 14 appearances (13 starts) over 80 2/3 innings pitched. Fantasy managers will need to see how he fares in his rehab assignment before determining next steps. However, his poor supporting offense and low strikeout ceiling limit his overall fantasy value, even if he returns fully healthy.

The White Sox announced that they have placed right-hander Davis Martin (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain, retroactive to June 17. The team also placed left-hander Cam Booser (shoulder) on the 15-day IL with a left shoulder strain. In other moves, the White Sox recalled righty Wikelman Gonzalez from Triple-A Charlotte, selected the contract of lefty Jake Palisch from Double-A Birmingham, and designated RHP Caleb Freeman for assignment. It's an ominous-sounding injury for Martin, who missed all of 2023 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Martin made it back last year to log 50 innings of 4.32 ERA ball. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay in Chicago's rotation this season, having accumulated a career-high 80 2/3 innings of 3.79 ERA pitching. While Martin has done a nice job limiting walks (2.12 per nine), he has only racked up 53 strikeouts. After totaling six-plus innings in six straight starts, Martin was scheduled to toe the rubber for the White Sox on Friday before his IL placement. It's unknown who will take his place, but the club's rotation was already shorthanded with Jonathan Cannon (back) on the IL and Adrian Houser on paternity leave. As a result, the White Sox may have to rely heavily on their bullpen in this weekend's series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin bounced back from a rough outing in his last start against the Tigers and held the Red Sox to just one run in six innings to get his first win of the season. In his Opening Day start, Martin was excellent in a no-decision against the Guardians, allowing just two unearned runs, but he was thumped for seven runs on nine hits in five innings in his second start of the season. On Friday, though, he was sharp again, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six and issuing just one walk. He got plenty of run support from the White Sox lineup against Sean Newcomb, and the team cruised to an 11-1 victory to snap an eight-game skid. Martin's next start is also scheduled to come at home at the end of this homestand next Thursday afternoon against the visiting Athletics.

Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Davis Martin will open the season in the starting rotation. Martin spent most of his time in the rotation last season and will open the 2025 campaign in a similar role. Through his 10 starts last season, Martin held a 4.37 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP across 47 1/3 innings of work. He tallied 44 punchouts and showed weak command as he served up 20 free passes. He allowed four or more runs in three of his starts. Under the hood, he generated a modest 4.02 xERA with a solid .226 xBA. He also generated ground balls at an above-average 46.9 percent rate, placing him in the 75th percentile. Across 76 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level, Martin tallied an impressive 92 punchouts but has yet to flash this strikeout upside in the majors. However, given that he will have a role in the rotation, he will have value in AL-only formats.

Chicago White Sox pitcher Davis Martin is set to join the starting rotation soon. The White Sox are in need of another starter after Erick Fedde was traded on Monday. Martin seems like an odd choice considering he's working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He gave up one run over 2 2/3 innings of work during his season debut over the weekend. Davis posted a 4.83 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 48/19 K/BB ratio over 14 appearances (nine starts) with the White Sox in 2022. Fantasy managers in need of pitching help should probably look elsewhere for help.

Chicago White Sox right-hander Davis Martin's (elbow) rehab from Tommy John surgery has gone well. His body and arm are feeling good and he is scheduled to start throwing bullpen sessions next Monday. The 27-year-old hurler went under the knife last May and continues to work his way back for the 2024 season. He will open the regular season on the injured list and probably isn't going to be able to join Chicago's bullpen until the second half of the year. Martin made his big-league debut with the Pale Hose in 2022 and had a 4.83 ERA (4.28 FIP) and 1.29 WHIP with 19 walks and 48 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings over 14 appearances (nine starts). Given his long layoff, Martin is most likely to return to Chicago as a reliever once he's ready to make his season debut in 2024.

Chicago White Sox pitcher Davis Martin (biceps) was removed from Wednesday's start against the Minnesota Twins due to right biceps soreness. He allowed nine runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one across 1 2/3 innings before exiting in the top of the second inning. It's unclear if the biceps injury will prevent the 25-year-old from being ready by Spring Training. Martin finished the 2022 season with a 4.83 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts over 63 1/3 innings.
