Brenton Doyle to Remain on Injured List

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) was pulled off his minor league rehab assignment on Sunday. Doyle was placed on the 10-day Injured List on May 21 due to a left oblique contusion. He was making progress while playing at Triple-A Albuquerque before aggravating his injury on Saturday. The Rockies have pulled Doyle off his rehab assignment and will further evaluate him in Denver. It doesn't sound like Doyle is going to be ready to return before the All-Star break. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for more updates on his status. He could be a mixed league option once he's cleared to play again.

Brenton Doyle Returns to Rehab Assignment After Groin Injury

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (groin, oblique) missed several days during his minor-league rehab assignment with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes due to tightness in his left groin, but he was expected to be back in the lineup on Friday night, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. The 28-year-old power/speed threat initially was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Rockies in late May with a left-oblique contusion. Now that he's back in action on the farm, Doyle could be reinstated from the IL and rejoin the big-league roster at some point next week before the All-Star break. Doyle broke out in 2024 in his second full season in the majors with 23 home runs, 72 RBI, 30 stolen bases, and a .260/.317/.446 slash line in 149 games, but he has struggled to get anywhere near that level ever since. Through 43 games (122 plate appearances) this year before landing on the IL, Doyle was hitting just .207 (23-for-111) with a homer, four RBI, nine steals, and a 32.8% strikeout rate. With regular playing time no longer guaranteed, Doyle is rostered in only 31% of Yahoo leagues.

Brenton Doyle Now Dealing With a Groin Injury

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (groin, oblique) was scheduled to play a full minor-league rehab game in center field for Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, but he was scratched from the lineup before first pitch due to groin tightness, according to MLB.com. Doyle has been on the 10-day injured list since May 21 with a left-oblique contusion. The 28-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2019 out of Shepherd University was nearing a return to the big-league roster in early July, but it's now unclear if he'll have a shot to rejoin the Rockies before the mid-July All-Star break. In four rehab games before being scratched on Tuesday, Doyle was 4-for-16 at the plate. It's unclear when Doyle will be ready to return to game action, but it's yet another setback for a declining player that won't be guaranteed regular playing time in Colorado when he's reinstated from the IL. Before his oblique injury, Doyle was slashing just .207/.279/.270 with a homer, four RBI, 21 runs, nine stolen bases, and a 32.8% strikeout rate in 43 games played. He's now only rostered in 31% of Yahoo leagues.

Brenton Doyle Increasing the Intensity of his Swings

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) had a hitting session in the batting cage at Wrigley Field earlier this week and reported that he's increasing the intensity of his swings, per MLB.com. Doyle has been on the 10-day injured list since May 21 with a left-oblique contusion, but it's a good sign that he's increasing his baseball activities as he nears a potential minor-league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old is progressing, but there remains no firm timetable for his return to the Rockies. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues can continue to ignore the former fourth-rounder in 2019 out of Shepherd University for now, especially since he won't be guaranteed an everyday role once he returns to the major-league roster. Doyle broke out in 2024 in his second full season in Colorado with a .260/.317/.446 slash line, 23 home runs, 72 RBI, and 30 steals in 149 games. He's been on the decline since and is currently hitting .207 (23-for-111) with just one homer, four RBI, nine steals, and a 32.8% strikeout rate in 43 games played in 2026.

Brenton Doyle Hasn't Resumed Baseball Activities

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) can do daily activities without feeling pain in his left oblique, but he hasn't graduated to baseball activities, according to MLB.com. Doyle has been on the 10-day injured list since May 21 with a left-oblique contusion, and there remains no timetable for his return. But if the 28-year-old can resume baseball activities sooner rather than later, he could be in line for a potential late-June return. The former fourth-rounder in 2019 out of Shepherd University broke out with 23 home runs, 72 RBI, and 30 stolen bases in 149 games played for the Rockies in his second year in the big leagues in 2024, but he hasn't looked the same since. Doyle hit .233 (117-for-502) last year with only 15 home runs and 18 stolen bases, and he's barely hit over the Mendoza Line with just one homer and nine steals across his first 43 games in 2026 for Colorado. Regular playing time won't be guaranteed to Doyle when he recovers from his oblique injury, which is why he's now rostered in only 32% of Yahoo leagues.

Brenton Doyle Placed on 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Contusion

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, retroactive to May 20. Doyle suffered a left oblique contusion while attempting to make a diving play during Tuesday's game. The Rockies tried to take it day-to-day, but Doyle will need an extended period of time to recover. In a corresponding move, infielder Chad Stevens has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his place on the active roster. The expectation is that Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy will see increased playing time in center field while Doyle is sidelined.

Brenton Doyle Considered Day-to-Day With Oblique Contusion

Colorado Rockies center fielder Brenton Doyle (oblique) is considered day-to-day with a left-oblique contusion that he suffered when diving for a ball in Tuesday night's game against the Texas Rangers, according to Manny Randhawa of MLB.com. Fantasy managers will want to check back shortly to see if Doyle is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the visiting Rangers at Coors Field, but there's a good chance he'll be out of action. The Rockies begin a series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, and Doyle might also be unavailable for that contest. Although the good news is that Doyle's injury isn't a typical oblique strain that often requires an injured-list stint, he could still miss some time. The 28-year-old former fourth-rounder in 2019 out of Shepherd University had 23 home runs, 72 RBI, and 30 steals in a breakout 2024 campaign, but he failed to live up to expectations last year and continues to fall in 2026, hitting just .207 (23-for-111) with just one homer, four RBI, and nine steals in 43 games to this point. Doyle's tumble has cost him regular playing time in Denver.

Brenton Doyle Exits Early on Tuesday After Attempt at Diving Catch

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (undisclosed) was removed early from his team's game against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Per Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post, Doyle "appeared to be shaken up" after attempting to make a diving catch in the first inning. The 28-year-old has gotten off to a rough start to his 2026 season, hitting .207/.279/.270 with one home run, four RBI, 21 runs scored, and nine stolen bases across 122 plate appearances. Doyle has also graded out as a negative defender by measure of Defensive Runs Saved so far this season after recording 29 DRS from 2023 through 2025. The exact nature of Doyle's current injury is not yet clear, but he's given fantasy managers little reason to roster him so far this season either way. If Doyle hits the injured list, Rockies outfielders Jake McCarthy and Troy Johnston could both be in line for more playing time.

Is Brenton Doyle a Drop Candidate?

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle has gotten off to a very slow start to the 2026 season. The 27-year-old righty is hitting just .139 (5-for-36) through his first 12 games with no home runs, one double, and 15 strikeouts. His 38.5% K% is up over ten percentage points from last season, and his hard-hit rate has slipped to 42.9% with a 0.0% barrel rate. Doyle does have two stolen bases, but he is not putting the ball in play enough to take full advantage of his speed. With his home games at Coors Field, Doyle will always have the potential to go on a hot streak and be fantasy relevant for a stretch. Still, given his current struggles, he's definitely droppable for now in shallow leagues where waiver-wire options are starting the season in much better form.

Brenton Doyle Gets the Day Off Amid Hitless Start to Season

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Leadoff hitter Jake McCarthy will patrol center field in his absence. Doyle has been off to a woeful start offensively, going 0-for-11 with one walk, one stolen base, and two strikeouts. His .168 xBA suggests he's been only a little unlucky. Doyle has always been someone whose glove offers more value than his bat, but a three-game hitless streak is still concerning. He'll get the day off Monday to reset as the Rockies face off against Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Cody Ponce. If this is just a day off rather than a pure benching, he should get back into the lineup on Tuesday against veteran righty Max Scherzer.
