Cubs
Chicago Cubs second baseman prospect James Triantos is starting to find a groove at Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs promoted the 21-year-old to Iowa last week, and after starting off 0-for-8 over his first two games, he's now hit safely in the last four games, going 6-for-17 (.353) with a pair of stolen bases over that stretch. Triantos had a nice 2023 that earned him an invite to the 2023 Arizona Fall League where he had a phenomenal showing, then posted a .300-7-40-63-38 line in 89 games at Double-A in 2024 which prompted the promotion to Triple-A. It's unclear how the former second-round pick fits into the Cubs' future plans with Nico Hoerner manning second base and Dansby Swanson signed at shortstop, but expect to see him in the majors at some point next season.

Cubs Promote James Triantos To Triple-A
The Chicago Cubs will promote second base prospect James Triantos to Triple-A Iowa. Triantos earns the promotion after hitting .300 with five triples, seven homers, 40 RBI and 38 stolen bases. The 22-year-old doesn't offer much power, but he has very good contact skills that gets him on-base, where is he has the speed to rack up stolen bases. With his lack of power, he does not offer much yet in the fantasy world, but the Cubs No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline is certainly worthy of being added to the watch-list in dynasty leagues. While he is still in between positions in the infield, the Cubs have Michael Busch, Nico Hoerner, Dansby Swanson and Isaac Paredes all locked in for the 2025 season, meaning Triantos would really need to turn heads in Spring Training or an injury to happen to break camp. Either way, his promotion could mean that his big-league debut can come sooner than expected as a utilityman.

James Triantos Posts Dominant July
Chicago Cubs second base prospect James Triantos enjoyed a big July at Double-A. Through 19 games, the former second-round pick held an excellent .299/.371/.377 line with a 7:9 BB:K ratio, six stolen bases, and 23 total hits. In his past 11 games, he has only gone hitless once and is riding a .364 AVG and .440 OBP. This is a great sign for the 21-year-old as this was yet another dominant month for him. Through 86 games this season, he sits with a .304/.349/.442 line. Triantos is considered the fourth-best prospect in the Chicago system on MLB.com and the 51st-best overall prospect. Triantos should start next summer at Triple-A Iowa and could push for a major league debut.

James Triantos Turning In Torrid June For Double-A Tennessee
Chicago Cubs second base prospect James Triantos homered Thursday for Double-A Tennessee to continue his red-hot month. Triantos is hitting .429 in June with four homers and 12 RBI to go with 14 stolen bases. The 21-year-old has been showcasing his power-speed potential all season with 27 stolen bases to his name along with seven homers and 31 RBI while hitting .319. The Cubs' No. 5 prospect is crushing Double-A this year and could be in line for a promotion to Triple-A shortly. With a 60-grade hit tool, Triantos profiles as someone who can quickly adjust at the plate each time he advances a level. He could be looking at a big-league debut sometime next season at this rate and is someone who should be on the fantasy radar.

James Triantos With A Two-Homer Game Tuesday
Chicago Cubs second baseman prospect James Triantos went 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs on Tuesday for Double-A Tennessee, extending his mini-hit streak to four games. He also drove in three and scored three times in the contest. That brings his season line to .296-3-10-11-4. Triantos spent most of 2023 at High-A but played three games at Double-A at the end of the regular season. He had a phenomenal showing in the 2023 Arizona Fall League in which he batted .417 with the second-most hits during the campaign at 35, while also stealing nine bases in 22 games. A good spring that extends into summer should get him to Triple-A this year, but Gold Glove second baseman Nico Hoerner currently blocks his path to the majors. Regardless, he'll likely make it there sometime in 2025, so dynasty managers should be keeping tabs on him.

James Triantos Struggling At Double-A
Chicago Cubs infield prospect James Triantos is off to a slow start this season with a .233/.292/.349 line with one home run and six RBI. Triantos has been a great contact hitter in the minors, hitting a .272 AVG at Low-A in 2022 and a .287 AVG across High-A and Double-A last season. The former second-round pick should hope to reach Triple-A this season, as he has progressed through the lower levels of the system rather swiftly. Triantos is expected to make his major league debut in 2025 and is worth looking at in dynasty leagues, even though his arrival is far away.

James Triantos Shines In Arizona Fall League
Chicago Cubs infielder James Triantos put on a show during the Arizona Fall League. The 20-year-old prospect hit .417/.495/.679 with three home runs, 15 RBI, nine stolen bases in 99 plate appearances. That performance was strong enough to win Triantos the Offensive Player of the Year award for the Arizona Fall League. Triantos is a former second-round pick of the Cubs from the 2021 draft. Triantos slashed 287/.364/.391 with four homers, 48 RBI and 16 stolen bases over 83 games with mainly Single-A South Bend in 2023. He's expected to make the jump to Double-A Tennessee this upcoming season. It shouldn't be too long before we see Triantos on the big league roster. He's someone worth stashing in dynasty formats even though he's likely at least a year or two away from playing in the big leagues.
