James Triantos News
Chicago Cubs second baseman prospect James Triantos went 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs on Tuesday for Double-A Tennessee, extending his mini-hit streak to four games. He also drove in three and scored three times in the contest. That brings his season line to .296-3-10-11-4. Triantos spent most of 2023 at High-A but played three games at Double-A at the end of the regular season. He had a phenomenal showing in the 2023 Arizona Fall League in which he batted .417 with the second-most hits during the campaign at 35, while also stealing nine bases in 22 games. A good spring that extends into summer should get him to Triple-A this year, but Gold Glove second baseman Nico Hoerner currently blocks his path to the majors. Regardless, he'll likely make it there sometime in 2025, so dynasty managers should be keeping tabs on him.
Chicago Cubs infield prospect James Triantos is off to a slow start this season with a .233/.292/.349 line with one home run and six RBI. Triantos has been a great contact hitter in the minors, hitting a .272 AVG at Low-A in 2022 and a .287 AVG across High-A and Double-A last season. The former second-round pick should hope to reach Triple-A this season, as he has progressed through the lower levels of the system rather swiftly. Triantos is expected to make his major league debut in 2025 and is worth looking at in dynasty leagues, even though his arrival is far away.
Chicago Cubs infielder James Triantos put on a show during the Arizona Fall League. The 20-year-old prospect hit .417/.495/.679 with three home runs, 15 RBI, nine stolen bases in 99 plate appearances. That performance was strong enough to win Triantos the Offensive Player of the Year award for the Arizona Fall League. Triantos is a former second-round pick of the Cubs from the 2021 draft. Triantos slashed 287/.364/.391 with four homers, 48 RBI and 16 stolen bases over 83 games with mainly Single-A South Bend in 2023. He's expected to make the jump to Double-A Tennessee this upcoming season. It shouldn't be too long before we see Triantos on the big league roster. He's someone worth stashing in dynasty formats even though he's likely at least a year or two away from playing in the big leagues.
