Leo De Vries Crushes Two Home Runs on Sunday

Athletics shortstop prospect Leo De Vries went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI during their victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon. The team's No. 1-ranked prospect (and MLB.com's No. 4-ranked prospect) enjoyed a massive breakout game. Overall, through 11 spring training games, De Vries has gone 10-for-26 with three stolen bases and the aforementioned two long balls. The young shortstop joined the Athletics ahead of last year's trade deadline in the deal that moved top right-handed closer Mason Miller to San Diego. Last season, De Vries logged 118 games (shared between High-A and Double-A), where he posted a .255/.355/.451 line with an .806 OPS, 15 HRs, and 11 SBs. If he continues this pace, De Vries could join Triple-A Las Vegas before the All-Star break.

Leo De Vries Exits Early on Saturday

Athletics shortstop Leo De Vries (illness) was removed early during Saturday's Spring Training contest against the San Francisco Giants. De Vries was pulled out of the game due to illness, which was likely dehydration. Luckily, this sounds like something minor that shouldn't keep De Vries sidelined for long. The expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup within a day or two. The 19-year-old is viewed as one of the top prospects in the league. He made it to Double-A last season and is likely going to open the 2026 season there or in Triple-A. There's a chance that De Vries makes his MLB debut in 2026, but that depends on how he performs in the minors. Regardless, the future is extremely bright for the youngster.

Leodalis De Vries Earns Invite to Spring Training

The Athletics have invited top infield prospect Leodalis De Vries to big-league spring training. De Vries is considered the No. 3-ranked prospect in the entire sport on MLB.com. He was the top piece included in the trade that sent Mason Miller to San Diego last season. De Vries began his 2025 season with High-A Fort Wayne but finished it with Double-A. Through 97 games at High-A (split between Fort Wayne and Lansing), De Vries posted a .249/.354/.426 line with 21 doubles, 10 home runs, and nine stolen bases. He was then given a short 21-game stint at Double-A Midland, where he posted a .281/.359/.551 line with five long balls. Managers should closely monitor De Vries' progression as he could make a strong case to begin the season at Triple-A, which would open the door for a 2026 MLB debut.

Leodalis De Vries in Play for 2026 MLB Debut?

Athletics infield prospect Leodalis De Vries could be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the second half of the 2026 campaign. De Vries was the headliner piece that went to the Athletics in return for relief pitcher Mason Miller, who was traded to the Padres at the deadline. De Vries is currently viewed as the No. 3 overall prospect in baseball on MLB.com. The 19-year-old spent most of the 2025 campaign with High-A and posted an overall .249/.354/.426 line with a .780 OPS, 10 home runs, and nine stolen bases. He was then promoted to Double-A Midland late in the season and continued to perform well over his brief 21-game look. During this short look, De Vries led a .281/.359/.551 line with five long balls. If the 19-year-old can continue this pace at Double-A to begin the season, he should be in the mix for an early promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, leaving the door open for the late-season MLB debut. He is a top dynasty asset heading into the 2026 season.

Leodalis De Vries Stays Hot, Hits Two Home Runs on Sunday

Athletics shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries went 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored for Double-A Midland on Sunday. The performance gave the RockHounds a 1-0 lead over the Springfield Cardinals in the best-of-three series for the Texas League Championship. The Athletics' top-ranked prospect went 18-for-47 (.383) with five doubles, a triple, and five home runs over the final 10 games of the regular season, and is now 7-for-11 (.636) with three home runs in three postseason games. Not bad for being one of only two 18-year-olds at the Double-A level. The switch-hitting Dominican looks like he'll be ready to test Triple-A next year and should be in the majors by 2027. With the makings of a future star, the youngster needs to be stashed away in dynasty formats.

Leodalis De Vries Belts First Double-A Homer in Four-Hit Game

Athletics shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries went 4-for-5 on Saturday for Double-A Midland, with three singles and a solo home run, his first round-tripper since being promoted to Double-A in mid-August. The Athletics' top-ranked prospect missed a few games at the beginning of this month with a shoulder issue, but in the three games since his return, the switch-hitter is 7-for-14 (.500) with a double, a triple, a home run, three RBI, and four runs scored. Through 14 games at Double-A, the 6-foot-1 Dominican has held his own, striking out at an average rate of 22.1 percent while drawing walks at a well-above-average rate of 13.2 percent, all while being the youngest player at that level. The sky is seemingly the limit for MLB's No. 3 overall prospect, and it will be interesting to see how he fares over a full season at the upper levels in 2026.

Leodalis De Vries Earns Promotion to Double-A

Athletics shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries is earning the call to join Double-A. This is a surprising move as the shortstop is only 18 years old. De Vries was the headliner piece that the Athletics acquired in the deal that sent relief pitcher Mason Miller to the San Diego Padres before the trade deadline. Throughout the entire regular season, De Vries has spent his time at High-A with both clubs. Through 97 total games at the level, De Vries has held a .249/.354/.426 line with a .780 OPS. During this stretch, De Vries has tallied 21 doubles, hit 10 home runs, and swiped nine bags. In 2024, De Vries had an .802 OPS at the Low-A level. De Vries currently sits as the No. 3-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com. Given his quick promotion to Double-A, De Vries could be in the mix to spend time at Triple-A as early as next summer.

Leodalis De Vries Launches Two Home Runs

Athletics shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries had a monster day at the plate on Friday evening. Facing High-A Dayton, De Vries went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, and five RBI. He also drew a walk and scored three runs. Since joining the Athletics in a blockbuster deal that sent Mason Miller to San Diego, De Vries has held a .229/.326/.458 line with a double, two home runs, and a stolen base. During the first half of the season, playing with High-A Fort Wayne, De Vries posted a solid .245/.357/.410 line with 19 doubles, eight home runs, and eight stolen bases. Dynasty managers should continue to monitor De Vries's development as he is considered one of the top hitting prospects in the entire sport. Even though he is several seasons away from his MLB debut, he is a top stash option in all keeper formats.

Leodalis De Vries Logs Two Hits, Drives in Three on Wednesday

Athletics shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries is making a good first impression with his new organization after coming to the A's in the Mason Miller trade. The team's top prospect went 2-for-5 on Wednesday with three RBI, and is now 7-for-25 (.280) with a double, a triple, six RBI, and three runs scored in six games for High-A Lansing. A 41.4 percent strikeout rate in those six contests is eye-opening, however, the youngster is just one of a handful of 18-year-olds at High-A, and some adjustment to the new system should be expected. With a well-rounded toolset, expect the switch-hitter to continue to climb the ladder over the next couple of seasons, and the Dominican should be stashed away in dynasty leagues.

Leodalis De Vries Heads to A's in Blockbuster Deal

The Athletics are acquiring shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries and right-handed pitching prospects Braden Nett, Henry Baez and Eduarniel Nunez from the San Diego Padres on Thursday in exchange for closer Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. De Vries, 18, was the Padres' top prospect and the No. 3 prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline, so it's quite a haul for the A's. De Vries has lots of potential for sure, but he's a year or two away from making it to the big leagues, and he could be shifting to second base when he does given the presence of Rookie of the Year candidate Jacob Wilson at short. De Vries is the youngest player at High-A this year and has hit .245/.357/.410 with eight home runs and eight steals in 82 games. The young switch-hitter has advanced plate discipline for his age.
