Leodalis De Vries Could Miss Rest Of Season

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries (shoulder) is in jeopardy of missing the rest of the season with a right-shoulder strain. De Vries suffered the injury after diving for a ball on Sunday and is expected to miss a couple weeks minimum, which makes a return unlikely with Single-A Lake Elsimore's season almost over. The native of the Dominican Republic burst onto the scene this season at just 17 years old, making him one of the youngest prospects in Single-A and held his own this season. The switch-hitting shortstop that offers five-tool potential hit .237 with 11 homers, 38 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 299 at-bats. MLB Pipeline ranks De Vries as the No. 47 prospect in all of baseball and managers in dynasty leagues should consider investing early, even though he may be a couple seasons away from contributing at the big-league level.

Leodalis De Vries Continues To Impress

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries hit his 10th home run of the season on Thursday for Single-A Lake Elsinore. At 17 years old, De Vries is the youngest player in the Single-A Cal League but he just turned in a July in which he slashed .318/.442/.694. The uber-talented youngster is hitting .235 with 10 homers, 35 RBI, and 12 stolen bases on the season. The Padres' No. 2 prospect is producing in his first taste of professional baseball. He is a long way away from being on the big-league radar but he is one of the top young outfield prospects in the minors and should only continue to improve.

Leodalis De Vries Enjoys Big Week At The Plate

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries extended his hitting streak to six games on Saturday evening to cap off a big week. During this stretch, the 17-year-old held a .400/.500/.880 slash line with three home runs, seven RBI, and a 4:5 BB:K ratio. De Vries has performed quite well through his taste of professional ball this season with a .242/.362/.445 line. The infielder could push for a late-season promotion to High-A if he continues this hot surge. De Vries is ranked as the third-best prospect in the San Diego system on MLB.com and remains a name to keep a close eye on as he continues to climb through the minor league ranks.

Leodalis De Vries Continues Impress In Single-A

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries continued his impressive season for Single-A Lake Elsinore on Wednesday. The 17-year-old went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in the contest, marking the third time in his last five games the has rounded the bases. It is very rare to see someone so young at Single-A, but De Vries has spent most of the season with Lake Elsinore and held his own with a .232 batting average that is accompanied by eight homers, 30 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 224 at-bats. Like fellow Padres prospect, catcher Ethan Salas, De Vries is a rare talent that could rise quickly through a good Padres system. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, De Vries has all the tools to make him an all-around contributor at the next level and managers in dynasty leagues should invest in the youngster before it is too late.

Leodalis De Vries On Power Surge

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a solo home run in Single-A Lake Elsinore's most recent contest. The home run was the fourth of the season for the 17-year-old and his third over his last two games. De Vries entered the season as one of the most electric prospects in the game and playing in Single-A at such a young age is evidence why. For the year, De Vries has hit .229 with four homers, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases over 45 games. The youngster hailing from the Dominican Republic has five-tool potential and dynasty managers should already be investing shares in De Vries, even at such a young age.

Leodalis De Vries Hits First Professional Home Run For Single-A Lake Elsinore

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries was 1-for-3 with a home run for Single-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday. The Padres' No. 4 prospect is off to a slow start at Single-A so far this season, hitting .197 with one homer and 15 RBI to go with five steals in 36 games. At just 17 years old, De Vries is adjusting to professional ball but the upside is there for one of the top recent international signings. The youngster out of the Dominican Republic is a name to file away in dynasty leagues, but he is a long way off the radar in redraft leagues. The home run on Tuesday, the first of his minor league career, is a good start as he begins to chart his path through the Padres' minor league system.

Leodalis De Vries Records Another Double

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries went 1-for-5 in Single-A Lake Elsimore's 19-0 victory on Wednesday. The 17-year-old's lone hit would go for a double. With the double, five of his last six hits have now gone for extra-bases. De Vries was the top international signing in 2023 and has quickly risen through the Padres system, reaching Single-A at such a young age. On the season, De Vries has hit .211 without a homer, but he does have 12 extra-base hits. De Vries is a switch-hitter with very good plate recognition and he also has good barrel control. As his body matures, so should his power. With De Vries multiple seasons away from a big-league debut, the potential star is only a name for dynasty league managers to consider.

Leodalis De Vries Tallies Four RBI On Thursday

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries tallied his first four professional RBI on Thursday. De Vries made his professional debut at Single-A earlier this week and has already begun to make headlines. The 17-year-old tallied two hits on Thursday, a single and a triple, which brought in four runs. Throughout his first three professional games, he has posted a .308/.357/.538 stat line with one stolen base and two extra-base hits. The number five overall prospect in the San Diego system is still several years away from reaching the major leagues but is a name worth monitoring in dynasty leagues as he has the potential to be a budding superstar in the future.

Leodalis De Vries To Debut In Single-A

San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Leodalis De Vries will start his professional career for Single-A Lake Elsinore on Monday. The 17-year-old will be the youngest player in the league and it is a similar path to the team's No.1 prospect Ethan Salas, who played for Lake Elsinore as a 17-year-old this past season. De Vries was the top international signing this past January and is out of the Dominican Republic. The Padres are enamored by the youngster's ability to make contact and identify plate recognition. His body is still growing and that could lead to more power in his future as well. De Vries ranks inside of most Top-100 prospect lists and his potential to be a five-tool asset is a big reason why. At minimum he is a few years away from the big leagues, but he is an exciting name for dynasty managers to keep tabs on.
