Mauricio Dubon Slumping, Falling Off Fantasy Radar

Braves outfielder Mauricio Dubon has struggled mightily over his last 15 games, hitting .186 with a .210 OBP and .271 slugging percentage. His strikeout rate is on pace to reach a career high, and his inability to make consistent contact has contributed to his recent decline. Dubon is now slashing .260/.311/.403 with a .714 OPS after an outstanding start to the season. The 32-year-old should continue to receive regular playing time as the Braves enter August, giving him an opportunity to break out of his slump. However, his recent production has significantly lowered his fantasy value. Managers can leave Dubon on the waiver wire until he begins to show more consistency at the plate.

Mauricio Dubon Could Lose Playing Time Soon

Atlanta Braves infielder/outfielder Mauricio Dubon has been a key utility man for the Braves in 2026 in his first season with the team, hitting .266/.318/.417 with a .735 OPS in 94 games across his 386 plate appearances. Although Dubon has never really been known for his power at the plate, he's already tied his career high of 10 home runs in his eighth year in the majors, and he's also added a career-high 53 RBI, 44 runs scored, and three steals. The 32-year-old veteran is hitting .262 (16-for-61) with a .728 OPS, two homers, three doubles, 10 RBI, nine runs scored, and a stolen base in 15 games and 67 plate appearances in the month of July. For fantasy purposes, Dubon is most appealing in deeper formats for his lack of strikeouts (14.5% strikeout rate), although he also doesn't walk much either (6.5% walk rate). Dubon is also appealing in fantasy for his eligibility at second base, third base, shortstop, and the outfield. He's currently rostered in just a hair under half of Yahoo leagues, but that number may begin to fall if he loses out on regular playing time once Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring) returns from the injured list in the near future.

Mauricio Dubon a Multi-Positional Depth Piece to Target on the Waiver Wire

Across 372 plate appearances so far in 2026, Atlanta Braves utility man Mauricio Dubon is hitting .265/.319/.420 with 10 home runs, 51 RBI, 42 runs scored, and three stolen bases. Dubon's underlying power metrics remain underwhelming, as he's logged a 4.8% barrel rate and a 30.8% hard-hit rate on the year. However, Dubon limits whiffs (14.7% strikeout rate) and has already matched his career-high for home runs in a season in his first campaign with Atlanta. The 31-year-old's defensive versatility has allowed him to maintain an everyday role in the Braves lineup and also provides valuable multi-positional eligibility for fantasy managers. Dubon may not have the highest production ceiling, but he profiles as a highly useful depth piece for fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire.

Mauricio Dubon Becoming Waiver Target With Multi-Position Eligibility

Atlanta Braves infielder/outfielder Mauricio Dubon has never had much power or speed in his seven-plus years in the big leagues with four different teams as a utility player, but he has recently become more attractive off the waiver wire in fantasy baseball leagues as a short-term boost during his hot streak with the Braves. Dubon has hit .267/.316/.421 with a .738 OPS in 78 games across 314 plate appearances with Atlanta so far this year, and he's only three home runs away from setting a new career high in that category. The 31-year-old veteran from Honduras has been excellent in 22 games (89 plate appearances) in June, going 26-for-84 (.310) with five long balls, five doubles, 14 RBI, 12 runs scored, and two stolen bases. Dubon is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak in which he's gone 11-for-29 (.379) with a homer, four doubles, an RBI, five runs, and a stolen base. He sits in just the 11th percentile in hard-hit rate and 25th percentile in barrel rate, but he rarely strikes out (85th percentile in K rate) and should continue to play regularly with Ronald Acuna Jr. (hamstring) on the injured list. Most importantly, Dubon is eligible at second base, third base, shortstop, and the outfield, and he's rostered in only 39% of Yahoo leagues. Ride the wave in deeper fantasy leagues.

Mauricio Dubon Off to a Hot Start in Atlanta, Worth Targeting on the Waiver Wire?

Atlanta Braves infielder Mauricio Dubon is off to a red-hot start to the 2026 season, hitting .339/.381/.542 with two home runs, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored across his first 63 plate appearances. The 31-year-old has spent most of his career to this point in a super-utility role. However, with Braves shortstop Ha-Seong Kim (finger) currently on the injured list, Dubon has largely seen everyday playing time so far this year. Dubon currently owns a .391 batting average on balls in play, which is significantly higher than his career mark of .286. Still, he does currently own a career-best 8.3% barrel rate and could continue to rack up counting stats in a strong Braves' lineup. Even with some regression, Dubon could be a valuable depth piece for deep-league fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire while he is getting regular playing time in Atlanta.

Mauricio Dubon to Open the Year as Braves Shortstop

Atlanta Braves infielder Mauricio Dubon will be the team's starting shortstop while Ha-Seong Kim misses at least the first five weeks of the 2026 season after having surgery on his right middle finger, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Defense and positional versatility are Dubon's calling card, but he did hit 10 homers and posted a .720 OPS in 492 plate appearances for the Houston Astros in 2023. He had a .651 OPS the last two seasons in Houston, not drawing more than 428 plate appearances either year. Defensively, Dubon should be able to hold down the 6 in Kim's absence after tying for the seventh-highest Fielding Run Value (six) among MLB shortstops last year. The 31-year-old Honduras native has appeared at every spot in the big leagues except catcher and pitcher, so he offers the Braves a lot of flexibility on defense. But he barely moves the needle in fantasy.

Braves Acquire Mauricio Dubon From the Astros

The Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros pulled off a trade on Wednesday, with the Braves acquiring infielder/outfielder Mauricio Dubon from the Astros in exchange for infielder Nick Allen, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The Braves have a glaring need at shortstop going into next season, but it's unclear if Dubon, a two-time Gold Glover, will play at the 6 primarily or be used as more of a utility man. The 31-year-old has played seven different positions in his seven big-league seasons, including 107 games at short and 214 at second base. Both Dubon and Allen are glove-first players, which doesn't make them as attractive in fantasy baseball. Dubon has had a .677 OPS the last three years in Houston, while Allen had just a .535 OPS while serving as the Braves' primary shortstop for much of 2025. Dubon has only 39 homers with a .257/.295/.374 slash line in his seven seasons in the majors.

Mauricio Dubon, Cam Smith Both Resting on Saturday

Houston Astros infielder Mauricio Dubon and rookie outfielder Cam Smith will both start on the bench for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Ramon Urias will make the start for the 'Stros at second base and hit eighth against Yankees right-hander Luis Gil. Jose Altuve is serving as the designated hitter and will bat third, with Taylor Trammell in left field and Jesus Sanchez in right field. Dubon will continue to get at-bats at the keystone for Houston, and he has a hit in each of his last four games played. Smith has gone 4-for-23 with an RBI and five K's in six games so far in August. Sanchez is the one you want to target for DFS lineups on Saturday over Trammell. He has never faced Gil in his career but has gone 8-for-29 (.276) with four doubles and an RBI in his first seven games after the Astros acquired him from the Marlins at the trade deadline.

Mauricio Dubon Tallies Three Hits in Astros Victory Tuesday

Houston Astros utility man Mauricio Dubon had himself a great evening on Tuesday night, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, one RBI, and his second home run of the season. The home run came in the fourth inning off of left-hander JP Sears and helped the Astros take care of the Athletics on Tuesday with a final score of 13-3. Dubon remains a super-utility man for the Astros, and in the last seven days, he is slashing .333/.421/.667 with four runs scored and three RBI in 15 at-bats. Still, from a fantasy perspective, he does not continue to get enough consistent playing time to be fantasy relevant in points leagues. That being said, over the past two weeks, he has been playing more than he was in May and April.

Mauricio Dubon Steals Two Bases On Sunday

Houston Astros utility man Mauricio Dubon had a nice afternoon Sunday, going 1-for-2 with one RBI, two runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. The two stolen bases, RBI, and runs scored were all his season's firsts. For the season, Dubon is slashing a poor .105/.190/.158, which are well below his career averages of .259/.295/.375. Those rostering Dubon should consider looking elsewhere for production, as he is batting at the bottom of the Astros' order and not playing consistently in their lineup. Dubon will look to keep it going this week as Houston travels to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on Monday for a three-game series.
