Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Amir Garrett (left lat strain) has been on the Injured List since July 3, but after throwing a live batting practice session this week, he's set for a rehab appearance at Triple-A on Friday. Garrett has had a fantastic season as a setup man for the Reds. He has a 1.70 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 14 holds. His 35.3% strikeout rate and 2.6% barrel rate rank amongst the top 5% in the league. He should be owned in all leagues where elite setup men and holds specialists are highly coveted as he's likely to return to the Reds within the next week or so, assuming he doesn't have any setbacks.
The Cincinnati Reds placed relief pitcher Amir Garrett (left lat strain) on the 10-day Injured List on Thursday. Garrett leads all Reds pitchers in appearances this year with 42. He's had an outstanding season with a 1.70 ERA and 14 holds. His 35.3% strikeout rate ranks amongst the top five percent in the league. While he's out, fellow set-up men Michael Lorenzen and David Hernandez will likely see an increase in usage. Neither has had a great year, but Hernandez has 11 holds on the season and figures to have more opportunities to increase that number while Garrett is out.
Cincinnati Reds left-hander Amir Garrett left Tuesday's game after getting hit on the left knee by a grounder off the bat of Ender Inciarte. Garrett threw just six pitches, logging just one-third of an inning. The Reds got good news, however, as X-rays on Garrett's left leg came back negative. He has been diagnosed with a lower leg contusion and can be considered day-to-day for now. Garrett has posted a 2.59 ERA and 15 holds this season.
