Nolan Schanuel Activated and Starting on Friday

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday, and he is back in the starting lineup, playing first base and batting leadoff against Colorado Rockies right-hander Bradley Blalock at Coors Field. It will be Schanuel's first action in the big leagues in over three weeks due to a left-wrist bruise. During his minor-league rehab assignment, the left-handed hitter went 4-for-8 with a double and three runs scored. The 23-year-old former first-rounder will look to finish off his second full season in the big leagues strong. Schanuel typically isn't a great source of counting stats at the first base position, but he'll have more DFS sleeper appeal this weekend at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He is returning to a very modest .266/.355/.383 slash line, .738 OPS, 10 home runs, 49 RBI, 61 runs, and five steals on the year in 125 games.

Nolan Schanuel Begins Rehab Assignment

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) began a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, the team announced. Schanuel has been on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist contusion since Aug. 24, but barring setbacks, he should return before the Angels' season wraps up. The 23-year-old has hit a modest .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 535 plate appearances in his second full season in the majors. The Angels have started five different players at first base in Schanuel's absence.

Nolan Schanuel Hoping to Return Next Week

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) said that he's going to Arizona on Wednesday to ramp up his baseball activities and is hoping to be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point on the team's upcoming road trip (but not in Seattle this weekend), according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. It sounds like Schanuel might skip a minor-league rehab assignment, which means it's possible he could be back in the team's lineup as early as Monday in Milwaukee against the Brewers. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter has been out almost three weeks with a bone bruise on his left wrist, but he is almost ready to return as the starting first baseman to close out the season. Until Schanuel can return, Logan Davidson and Oswald Peraza will continue to split time at first base for the Angels.

Nolan Schanuel Taking Swings

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) hit off a tee on Sunday and progressed to swinging in the batting cage on Monday. Schanuel, on the 10-day injured list with a bone bruise in his left wrist since Aug. 24, looks on track to return sometime this month. In his second full season in the majors, the 23-year-old has hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 535 plate appearances. Although that production is closer to average than great, the Schanuel-less Angels have downgraded significantly at first base with a Niko Kavadas-Oswald Peraza platoon. Kavadas has hit .100/.217/.100 in 23 trips to the plate. Peraza, acquired from the New York Yankees on July 31, has put together a .157/.212/.249 line over198 plate appearances.

Nolan Schanuel hasn't Resumed Baseball Activities

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) has not resumed baseball activities since he went on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist contusion on Aug. 24, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Schanuel now looks likely to miss more than 10 days, and it's unclear when he'll be able to come back. The former 11th overall pick (2023) has hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 535 plate appearances this season. The Angels have been going with a Niko Kavadas-Oswald Peraza tandem at first base in Schanuel's absence.

Nolan Schanuel Goes on 10-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles announced that they have placed first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist contusion and recalled outfielder Matthew Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake. Schanuel exited the Angels' 12-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday after injuring his wrist on a diving play in the field, and he'll now head to the IL for the first time in his career. The 23-year-old has appeared in 125 games this season and hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs, and five stolen bases in 535 plate appearances. With Schanuel out on Sunday, Niko Kavadas will play first base and hit seventh against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Nolan Schanuel Leaves Early on Saturday

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Schanuel appeared to have injured his wrist while making a diving play during the second inning of Saturday's contest. He stayed in the game and went 0-for-2 at the plate before exiting the contest. Angels' manager Ray Montgomery said Schanuel will be re-evaluated on Sunday. That being said, fantasy managers should consider Schanuel day-to-day until more information is revealed. In the meantime, Niko Kavadas figures to see increased time over at first base.

Nolan Schanuel Back in Monday's Lineup

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) is back at first base and is hitting second for Monday's series opener at Citi Field against the New York Mets and right-hander Kodai Senga. Schanuel left Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch on the left wrist, but thankfully he avoided any structural damage, and he's back in action a day later. The 23-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman offers fantasy managers a decent average at .274 (96-for-351), but he lacks the power of most high-end first baseman with just eight homers on the season in 95 games played. Schanuel has added 40 RBI and 47 runs scored as the Angels' starting first baseman. Schanuel comes into Monday's game hitting .288 (17-for-59) with a homer, double, eight RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base in 15 games in July.

Nolan Schanuel Exits with Wrist Contusion

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) exited their game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday with a left-wrist contusion, the team announced. Schanuel suffered the injury on a hit by pitch in the first inning, and the Angels quickly replaced him with LaMonte Wade Jr. The 24-year-old Schanuel emerged as a mainstay in the Angels' lineup last season and has put together respectable numbers in 2025 despite below-average power. He's hitting .274/.364/.396 with eight homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and an impressive 47:44 K:BB in 407 plate appearances. Schanuel has never been on the injured list, but if he has to miss more time, Wade would likely fill his spot.

Nolan Schanuel Returns to Action on Friday

Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (calf) is starting at first base and batting second for Friday's series opener against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. Schanuel was held out of Thursday's series finale against the Texas Rangers as a precaution due to tightness in his calf, but he's feeling fine a day later and will return for the start of the final series of the first half of the regular season. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter has gone 9-for-38 (.237) with a homer, seven RBI and two runs scored in nine games so far in the month of July. On the season, he's hitting .267/.356/.394 and lacks high-end power (eight home runs) that most fantasy managers are looking for at the first base position. Elsewhere, Schanuel ranks in the sixth percentile in hard-hit rate and the 55th percentile in xwOBA.
