Christian Moore a Must-Add After Stellar Play at Triple-A?

With All-Star outfielder Mike Trout (hamstring) going on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels are calling up second baseman Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move, according to The Athletic's Sam Blum. Moore was drafted as a second baseman and has seen most of his time in the minors at the keystone, but he had recently been playing left field with the Bees and is starting in left field on Thursday against the division-rival Athletics and rookie left-hander Gage Jump in his first game back in the big leagues. The 23-year-old former eighth overall pick in 2024 out of the University of Tennessee rose quickly through the Angels' farm system and made his major-league debut in 2025, but he hit under .200 with a .284 on-base percentage, .655 OPS, seven home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs, three steals, and a 33.7% strikeout rate in 53 games played. Moore hit .333/.468/.585 with a 1.053 OPS, nine homers, 45 RBI, 55 runs, and 10 steals in 51 games at Salt Lake before his call-up. For his power alone, Moore is worth a look off the waiver wire in deeper fantasy leagues, and he could gain outfield eligibility fairly soon.

Christian Moore Emerging as Worthy Stash Candidate?

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore has yet to appear in a big-league game in 2026. However, the 23-year-old has impressed across 226 plate appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting .309/.451/.514 with five home runs, 39 RBI, 48 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. Moore struggled across 184 plate appearances after making his MLB debut in 2025, hitting .198 with a 33.7% strikeout rate. He's made major improvements to his plate approach this season in the minors, lowering his strikeout rate to 22.1% while logging an elite 20.4% walk rate. The Angels have gotten capable production from second baseman Oswald Peraza so far this season, but Peraza's ability to play multiple spots on the infield could open a spot in Los Angeles for Moore. Given his five-category potential, Moore could be worth stashing off the waiver wire ahead of a potential promotion.

Christian Moore Lands on Injured List at Triple-A

The Los Angeles Angels announced on Sunday that they placed second base prospect Christian Moore (leg) on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Salt Lake due to a leg injury. It's an injury that has kept Moore sidelined since April 25. However, general manager Perry Minasian said Moore's injury isn't very serious and shouldn't keep him out for long. The 23-year-old former eighth overall pick in 2024 out of Tennessee made his way up to the big leagues quickly last year and made his major-league debut for the Halos, slashing just .198/.284/.370 with a .655 OPS, seven home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, three steals, 19 walks, and 62 strikeouts in 53 games and 184 plate appearances. Moore has above-average pop for a second baseman, but it was clear he wasn't ready for an everyday role in the majors just yet. Before his leg injury with the Bees, Moore had gone 16-for-73 (.219) with two home runs, 13 RBI, 20 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 21 games played. The most encouraging thing is that Moore has more walks than strikeouts. A return to the majors in 2026 should be inevitable, depending on Moore's health.

Angels Option Christian Moore to Minor-League Camp

The Los Angeles Angels optioned second baseman Christian Moore to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, per an announcement from the team. The 23-year-old Moore is considered one of the team's top prospects, but he hit just .175 across 43 plate appearances in Cactus League action and will start the 2026 season in the Minors. After starting the 2025 season in Double-A, Moore made his MLB debut in mid-June and hit .198/.284/.370 with seven home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, and three stolen bases across 184 plate appearances (53 games). While Moore walked at an impressive 10.3% rate, he also struck out at an unsustainably poor 33.7% clip. Swing-and-miss was an issue for Moore in the Minors as well, as he posted a 29% strikeout rate across 138 plate appearances at Triple-A. With Moore being optioned, Adam Frazier, Vaughn Grissom (hand), and Oswald Peraza appear to be battling for the Opening Day second base job. Moore could easily work his way back to the big leagues in 2026, but he will have to prove himself at Triple-A to begin the year.

Christian Moore Recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday and drew the start at second base for the Halos. He batted fifth in the order and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the contest. The 2024 first-rounder made quick work of the minors, making it all the way to the big leagues by mid-June this year, but struggled to a .195/.287/.336 slash line before getting sent back to Triple-A at the beginning of September. In his brief stint back in the minors, the 22-year-old was just 5-for-40 (.175), but hopefully he's able to get back on track with the big league club. For now, Moore can be left on the waiver wire.

Christian Moore Demoted to Minors

The Los Angeles Angels optioned rookie second baseman Christian Moore to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Moore joined the organization as the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft, and it took him less than a year to earn his first promotion to the majors. After Moore slashed .350/.424/.575 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and three stolen bases over 20 games and 92 plate appearances in Salt Lake, the Angels were impressed enough to call him up in mid-June. Unfortunately for the Angels and Moore, the 22-year-old has struggled to a .195/.287/.336 line with four HRs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and a 31.5% strikeout rate in his first 39 games and 130 plate appearances in the bigs. While Moore could still be the Angels' long-term solution at second base, Luis Rengifo figures to receive most of the playing time there for the rest of 2025.

Christian Moore Losing Playing Time Amid Skid

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore has begun to lose playing time. He hit the bench once again on Wednesday, in favor of Luis Rengifo. Over the last week, the former eighth overall pick has sat out of three games. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status, but it appears the Angels could option him back to Triple-A as he is falling out of a role with the major league club. Since returning from the injured list on August 3, Moore has held a modest .200/.310/.280 line with two doubles and an 8:4 K:BB. During this stretch, Moore has not gone deep. Throughout his first 18 games in the majors before his injury, Moore held a .189 AVG with a .698 OPS. Given his decreasing playing time and lack of success at the plate, he is only worth rostering in deeper formats for the time being.

Christian Moore Activated, Back in Lineup

The Los Angeles Angels announced that they have reinstated second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Scott Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake. Moore is coming back after missing a month with a sprained left thumb. The 22-year-old rookie is starting at the keystone and batting eighth Sunday against Chicago White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. Between his June 13 promotion to the bigs and his IL placement, Moore hit .189/.302/.396 with three homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored across 18 games and 64 plate appearances.

Christian Moore Continues Rehab at Single-A, Homers on Saturday

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore (thumb) continued his rehab assignment on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in his fourth rehab game at Single-A Inland Empire. The Angels' top prospect has been on the shelf since the beginning of July with a sprained thumb. He was hitting .189 (10-for-53) with three home runs in 18 games during his time with the big league club before the injury. While a 12.5 percent walk rate was good, he was sporting a poor 66.1 percent contact rate and a 31.3 percent strikeout rate for the Halos. There is plenty of room for improvement, but at just 22 years old, the 2024 first-rounder still has a bright future and should be an impactful fantasy player next season.

Christian Moore to Begin Rehab Assignment

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore (thumb) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Inland Empire on Wednesday. The eighth overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has been sidelined since the start of the month due to a sprained thumb. Last week, there were reports that Moore was able to take part in baseball activities, and now it appears he is slated to take the next step in his recovery plan. Given the time he missed, fantasy managers should expect him to need at least a week of action during his rehab assignment. Before his injury, Moore held a .189/.302/.396 slash line with three home runs through his first 18 games in the major leagues. The 22-year-old is worth monitoring as he should have an everyday role once he returns from the IL.
