Christian Moore Recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday and drew the start at second base for the Halos. He batted fifth in the order and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the contest. The 2024 first-rounder made quick work of the minors, making it all the way to the big leagues by mid-June this year, but struggled to a .195/.287/.336 slash line before getting sent back to Triple-A at the beginning of September. In his brief stint back in the minors, the 22-year-old was just 5-for-40 (.175), but hopefully he's able to get back on track with the big league club. For now, Moore can be left on the waiver wire.

Christian Moore Demoted to Minors

The Los Angeles Angels optioned rookie second baseman Christian Moore to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Moore joined the organization as the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft, and it took him less than a year to earn his first promotion to the majors. After Moore slashed .350/.424/.575 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and three stolen bases over 20 games and 92 plate appearances in Salt Lake, the Angels were impressed enough to call him up in mid-June. Unfortunately for the Angels and Moore, the 22-year-old has struggled to a .195/.287/.336 line with four HRs, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, and a 31.5% strikeout rate in his first 39 games and 130 plate appearances in the bigs. While Moore could still be the Angels' long-term solution at second base, Luis Rengifo figures to receive most of the playing time there for the rest of 2025.

Christian Moore Losing Playing Time Amid Skid

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore has begun to lose playing time. He hit the bench once again on Wednesday, in favor of Luis Rengifo. Over the last week, the former eighth overall pick has sat out of three games. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status, but it appears the Angels could option him back to Triple-A as he is falling out of a role with the major league club. Since returning from the injured list on August 3, Moore has held a modest .200/.310/.280 line with two doubles and an 8:4 K:BB. During this stretch, Moore has not gone deep. Throughout his first 18 games in the majors before his injury, Moore held a .189 AVG with a .698 OPS. Given his decreasing playing time and lack of success at the plate, he is only worth rostering in deeper formats for the time being.

Christian Moore Activated, Back in Lineup

The Los Angeles Angels announced that they have reinstated second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Scott Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake. Moore is coming back after missing a month with a sprained left thumb. The 22-year-old rookie is starting at the keystone and batting eighth Sunday against Chicago White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. Between his June 13 promotion to the bigs and his IL placement, Moore hit .189/.302/.396 with three homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored across 18 games and 64 plate appearances.

Christian Moore Continues Rehab at Single-A, Homers on Saturday

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore (thumb) continued his rehab assignment on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in his fourth rehab game at Single-A Inland Empire. The Angels' top prospect has been on the shelf since the beginning of July with a sprained thumb. He was hitting .189 (10-for-53) with three home runs in 18 games during his time with the big league club before the injury. While a 12.5 percent walk rate was good, he was sporting a poor 66.1 percent contact rate and a 31.3 percent strikeout rate for the Halos. There is plenty of room for improvement, but at just 22 years old, the 2024 first-rounder still has a bright future and should be an impactful fantasy player next season.

Christian Moore to Begin Rehab Assignment

Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore (thumb) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Inland Empire on Wednesday. The eighth overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has been sidelined since the start of the month due to a sprained thumb. Last week, there were reports that Moore was able to take part in baseball activities, and now it appears he is slated to take the next step in his recovery plan. Given the time he missed, fantasy managers should expect him to need at least a week of action during his rehab assignment. Before his injury, Moore held a .189/.302/.396 slash line with three home runs through his first 18 games in the major leagues. The 22-year-old is worth monitoring as he should have an everyday role once he returns from the IL.

Christian Moore Resumes Baseball Activities

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) has resumed baseball activities. He was spotted Friday playing catch and taking batting practice before the team's game. Also, he was wearing a brace on his left thumb to help support the recovery process. Moore was placed on the Injured List on July 3 with a left thumb sprain that he sustained while diving for a ground ball in the infield. Due to the nature and timing of the injury, he may require a rehab assignment to help regain his timing and mechanics at the plate before returning to the Angels. He is one of the organization's most exciting young players. In the minor leagues this year, Moore finished with a .279/.374/.422 slash line while hitting five home runs and stealing eight bases over 54 games played. He rose up the rankings quickly as a breakout, and brings excitement to the franchise.

Christian Moore Placed on Injured List With Thumb Sprain

The Los Angeles Angels placed rookie infielder Christian Moore (thumb) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a left-thumb sprain and selected the contract of infielder Chad Stevens from the minors in a corresponding move. The team also released right-handed reliever Hector Neris. Moore injured his thumb diving for a ball in Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves and will now most likely be out through the mid-July All-Star break. The 22-year-old is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and has given the contending Halos a jolt of energy of late despite hitting just .189 in his first 53 MLB at-bats. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues hoping to use the former first-rounder's power at second base will be hoping that his thumb injury doesn't affect his power stroke in the second half. Kevin Newman and Luis Rengifo are the most likely options to play second base in Anaheim with Moore out.

Christian Moore Exits Early with Thumb Irritation

Los Angeles Angels rookie second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) departed the team's 8-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves with left-thumb irritation, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Moore exited after diving for a ground ball in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Angels replaced him with Kevin Newman. Moore is undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury. Before exiting, Moore drew two walks in his only plate appearances of the night. The 22-year-old rookie has hit .189/.302/.396 with three homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored in 64 plate appearances since debuting on June 13.

Christian Moore Belts Two Homers, Walks Off Red Sox

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore knocked out two homers on Tuesday, the second being a two-run walk-off homer to give the Angels a 3-2 win. Moore also hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to tie the game at one. It was easily Moore's biggest night in his short MLB career so far, as he has had a slow start in the big leagues. In 36 at-bats, Moore is hitting .194 with five runs, three homers, and six RBI. It's a small sample size, though, and things can change quickly. The top-100 prospect has been a consistent everyday player for the Angels since coming up, so if he can get the bat going he could end up being a solid player in fantasy. For now, though, it is more of a wait-and-see for Moore.
