It was a quiet night at the plate for Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman in Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday, but he had a solid series overall. He did walk, but it never led to anything productive. Scherzer had his number early and Patrick Corbin kept him quiet late with a weak groundout. Its a disappointing finish to an illustrious season for Bregman, who deserves to finish second to Mike Trout in American League MVP voting. The Astros will likely be back to this series a couple of times in the next five seasons.
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman went 2-for- 4 with a solo home run in the Astros 7-2 loss to the Nationals in Game 6 of the World Series. The Nationals picked up a run in the first inning but Houston came roaring back. After a sacrifice fly plated George Springer, Bregman launched a ball into the seats for an early 2-1 lead. The Astros couldn't make it hold up and now will play a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday night. Bregman is slugging .577 in the World Series with three home runs and will need to deliver one more time if the Astros hope to capture their second championship over the last three seasons.
Bregman has been great this postseason, but couldn't put it together at the plate tonight. I guess it's a great game to struggle in, as the rest of his teammates took over and got the job done with a 7-1 victory. Bregman will look to bounce back against Stephen Strasburg in game six at home in Minute Maid Park. The Astros are up 3-2 and it's now the Nationals who need to get back into comeback mode.
