Sean Reid-Foley News
The Athletic's Tim Britton writes that it's looking unlikely that New York Mets right-hander Sean Reid-Foley (shoulder) will be able to return this year. Reid-Foley has been out since June with a right-shoulder impingement. He was attempting to make a return in early August but was laboring with his command during a minor-league rehab assignment and was shut down two weeks ago to allow him to build up strength in his shoulder. The fact that Reid-Foley hasn't resumed throwing makes it all but official that he won't make it back in the final month of the season in September. The 29-year-old has already missed more than 60 days and could be moved to the 60-day injured list if the Mets need more roster space. Reid-Foley pitched well in 23 appearances out of the bullpen earlier this year before his injury, allowing four unearned runs, although he also walked 14 and struck out 25 in 21 2/3 innings.

Sean Reid-Foley Nearing A Return
New York Mets right-hander Sean Reid-Foley (shoulder) walked three of the five batters he faced in his minor-league rehab outing for Double-A Binghamton on Sunday, throwing 25 pitches while recording a strikeout. Reid-Foley was set to check in with the team's medical staff in New York on Monday before being dispatched on another rehab outing later in the week. Manager Carlos Mendoza said that Reid-Foley's readiness to return to the big-league club will partly depend on his performance with Binghamton. "We want to see how the ball is coming out of his hand and how he's going to bounce back," Mendoza said. "We're going to need him when he gets here to go back-to-back [days] and one-plus [innings]." The 28-year-old had an impressive 1.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 25 K's but also 14 walks in 21 2/3 innings of relief for the Mets before suffering a right-shoulder impingement.

Sean Reid-Foley Tracking To Make Opening Day Roster
New York Mets relief pitcher Sean Reid-Foley (arm fatigue), who hasn't appeared in a Grapefruit League game since March 9 due to arm fatigue, threw a bullpen session Tuesday. The 28-year-old touched the mid-90s with his velocity. He expects to return to game action before the end of the week. Reid-Foley has had a strong spring, throwing four scoreless innings with a 0.25 WHIP and seven strikeouts. He should be a strong candidate to make the Opening Day roster if he is healthy. While the Mets' rotation depth may be lacking, their bullpen is rather deep with late-inning roles already determined. As such, Reid-Foley does not offer much fantasy value at this time.

Mets Re-Sign Tommy Hunter, Sean Reid-Foley
The New York Mets re-signed right-handed relievers Tommy Hunter and Sean Reid-Foley to minor-league deals on Tuesday. Both pitchers have been with the team the last two seasons, but they both missed significant time due to injuries. Hunter, 36, threw only 22 1/3 innings in 2022, but he had a solid 2.42 ERA (4.28 FIP), a 1.21 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances. Reid-Foley, 27, allowed six earned runs on seven hits while walking seven and striking out eight in just 10 relief innings for the Mets last season. In five big-league seasons, he has a 4.66 ERA (4.93 FIP), a 1.56 WHIP and 110 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings pitched. Hunter and Reid-Foley will give the Mets relief depth yet again in 2023.

Sean Reid-Foley Placed On Injured List With Partial UCL Tear
New York Mets relief pitcher Sean Reid-Foley (elbow) has been diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his right elbow. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The team hasn't revealed what the plans are for Reid-Foley, but he is expect to miss a big chunk of time, potentially the rest of the season. Tommy John surgery is one of the potential options for him. Fellow right-handed pitcher Yoan Lopez was called up to fill Reid-Foley's roster spot.

Sean Reid-Foley Exits Saturday's Game Early
New York Mets pitcher Sean Reid-Foley (leg) exited Saturday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks early with leg cramps. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out one over 2 2/3 scoreless innings before leaving. This season, the 31-year-old has pitched primarily out of the bullpen, posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and six strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings in 2022. Reid-Foley is day-to-day and is not expected to miss much time, but isn't worth rostering in most league formats.

Sean Reid-Foley Lands On Injured List
New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Reid-Foley (elbow) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. He is dealing with right elbow inflammation, so it's uncertain how much time he'll miss right now. Before going down, he posted a 5.23 ERA this season with a 1.50 WHIP over 20 2/3 innings. Yennsy Diaz has been recalled and will take Reid-Foley's spot on the active roster. Neither player is worth rostering in most fantasy formats.

Sean Reid-Foley Lasts Two Innings In Season Debut
Toronto Blue Jays starter Sean Reid-Foley went two innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits during a 6-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night. He struck out three batters while walking two. It was an ugly 2019 debut for the 23-year-old, as none of his pitches looked particularly sharp. Reid-Foley went 2-4 in 2018 with a 5.13 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. He is a fantasy afterthought, as he has never shown much promise at the big-league level. He might stick in the rotation for a while with Clayton Richard on the injured list, however.

Clayton Richard Out Two Weeks, Sean Reid-Foley Starting
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Sean Reid-Foley will make the start on Monday against the Orioles in place of starter Clayton Richard, who is dealing with a knee issue and won't throw for at least two weeks, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. Reid-Foley was 2-4 with a 5.13 ERA in 33 1/3 innings over seven starts for Toronto last year. The matchup is nice, but he's still a risky streaming option. Reid-Foley could become an option for those in AL-only leagues if he sticks around in the rotation. Richard wasn't much of a fantasy factor to begin with after he finished last year with a 7-11 record and 5.33 ERA in 27 starts for the Padres.

Sean Reid-Foley To Make At Least One More Start
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Sean Reid-Foley will make at least one more start before the end of the season. The team is monitoring his innings, and he's currently at 155 2/3 for the season. Reid-Foley has a 5.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and nice 11.1 K/9 over five starts in the majors this season. The strikeouts are nice, but combined with his 5.5 walks per nine innings, he's way too volatile for those in mixed leagues.
