Ty France on Toronto's World Series Roster

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Ty France (oblique) has been included on the team's World Series roster against the Los Angeles Dodgers. France will be on the team's roster for the first time during the playoffs after he was suffered a left-oblique strain late in the regular season. The veteran right-handed hitter will be available for Toronto against the Dodgers, starting on Friday night in Game 1 at the Rogers Centre, but he will be coming off the bench. The 31-year-old veteran began the 2025 season with the Minnesota Twins before joining the Jays. France played in 37 regular-season contests with the Blue Jays and went 26-for-94 (.277) at the plate with only one home run, eight RBI, and nine runs scored in his 103 plate appearances. He is unlikely to make any starts for Toronto in the best-of-seven series against L.A.

Ty France Could Join Blue Jays' World Series Roster

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Ty France (oblique) participated in the team's intrasquad game on Thursday as he works back from left oblique inflammation. The 31-year-old was acquired from the Minnesota Twins midway through the 2025 regular season but has yet to make an impact during Toronto's deep postseason run. France has been sidelined since September 22 but is considered day-to-day and could return for the upcoming World Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the injury, France slashed .277/.320/.372 over 37 games with the Blue Jays and will look to contribute in any way possible if he is cleared.

Ty France Could be Activated for Division Series

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman/designated hitter Ty France (oblique) played first base in Thursday's intrasquad game and is eligible to come off the 10-day injured list before the start of the American League Division Series on Saturday against the division-rival New York Yankees, according to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. France reportedly has made good progress from a late-season oblique injury that landed him on the IL, but he remains on the bubble for the ALDS roster. He has been out since late September with inflammation in his left oblique. If he's activated before Game 1 in Toronto on Saturday, France will be an option for the Blue Jays at the DH spot in the postseason. The 31-year-old veteran began the year with the Minnesota Twins before joining Toronto for 37 games. France hit .277 (26-for-94) in limited time with the team, but it came with only one homer in 103 plate appearances. He had seven total long balls on the year.

Louis Varland, Ty France Traded to Blue Jays

Minnesota Twins reliever Louis Varland and infielder Ty France were traded to the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. In exchange, the Twins will receive outfielder Alan Roden and left-hander Kendry Rojas. This isn't a blockbuster move, but the Jays will bulk up their depth for a postseason run. This season, France is slashing .251/.320/.357 with six home runs and 44 RBI in 101 games this season. His value will likely take a dip considering he'll probably play a part-time role in Toronto. As for Varland, he has a 2.02 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 47/13 K/BB ratio across 49 innings this season. He'll probably pitch in high-leverage situations, but unlikely to see consistent save chances. Both Roden and Rojas figure to continue playing in the minor leagues with their switch to Minnesota.

Ty France Collects Three Hits

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France went 3-for-5 with two singles and a double in his team's 10-4 win against the Athletics. He also scored twice and drove in a pair of runs, marking back-to-back multi-hit efforts for him. The veteran has been excellent in recent weeks, picking up at least one hit in 12 of his last 14 appearances. Over that span, he's an impressive 17-for-53 (.321) with 11 RBI, five runs scored, and two extra-base hits (home run). The hot stretch has brought France's season average up to .269 -- right around where he was before batting .244 in the month of May. If it holds, it'll be his best season line since 2022 when he hit .274 in 140 games.

Ty France Returns for Twins

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France (foot) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup for the red-hot Twins in Friday's series opener against the hosting Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Chad Patrick at American Family Field. France missed the last two games for the Twins after fouling a ball off his foot and suffering a contusion in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. It's good news for a suddenly banged-up Twins team who lost outfielders Byron Buxton (head) and Harrison Bader (groin) and shortstop Carlos Correa (head) in the last two days. The 30-year-old France has come back to Earth a bit in the month of May after a hot start and is now slashing .252/.316/.361 with three home runs, 21 RBI, 18 runs and a stolen base. He has never faced Patrick in his career.

Ty France Out For Twins On Thursday

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France (foot) will start on the bench for Thursday's series finale in Baltimore against the Orioles. It's not a big surprise after France was forced to leave Wednesday's game early in the fifth inning with a left-foot contusion in the first game of a doubleheader. The 30-year-old was also held out of Game 2. It's not considered a serious injury, but France will miss his second straight game. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if he's able to return for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. France hasn't homered since April 29 and has hit .227 (10-for-44) with three RBI, a steal and 10 strikeouts in 11 games so far in May. Kody Clemens is starting at first base on Thursday and is hitting eighth against Orioles right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, who he has never faced in his career. Clemens will be a low-upside DFS sleeper.

Ty France Injures Foot In Game 1 Of Doubleheader

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France (foot) left Game 1 of the team's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday early with a left-foot contusion, the team announced. France left the game after grounding out in the fifth inning and was replaced by Kody Clemens at first base. Before leaving, France went hitless in three at-bats in the eventual 6-3 victory. It's unclear how serious the 30-year-old veteran's injury is, but he'll almost certainly sit out the second game of the twin bill on Wednesday. There's also a good chance he won't be ready to return for Thursday's series finale with the O's. Heading into Wednesday's doubleheader, France was hitting .260/.325/.373 with a below-average .699 OPS, three homers and 21 RBI in 41 games. A long-term injury for France could push Clemens and Jonah Bride into a platoon at first base.

Ty France Expected To Play "A Lot"

According to Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune, Twins first baseman Ty France is "going to play a lot" during the 2025 season. France signed a one-year deal with Minnesota earlier in February and could have a path to a starting role at first base. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor France's status during spring training, but it seems he is entering camp as the clear favorite for the starting job. Last season, France posted a career-worst .234/.305/.365 line, split between time with the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds. He hit 13 home runs. He posted a modest 21.3 percent strikeout rate and a below-average 7.3 percent walk rate. If France were to see these struggles continue in camp, Jose Miranda and Edouard Julien could also be in the mix for starts at first base. If he earns the starting job, he is worth a look in AL-only formats.

Twins Sign Ty France To One-Year Deal

The Minnesota Twins signed former Seattle Mariners All-Star infielder Ty France to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, pending a physical. France, who had an .813 OPS in 2021 with Seattle, is an interesting addition to a first base picture in Minnesota that also includes Jose Miranda, Edouard Julien and Mickey Gasper. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter began the 2024 campaign with the M's but was eventually cut and latched on with the Cincinnati Reds to close out the year. He hit a combined .234/.305/.365 with a below-average .670 OPS, 13 home runs, 51 RBI and 46 runs scored in 140 games. He was a bit better with the Reds in 52 games, hitting .251 with five homers and 20 RBI. France has been in decline offensively since his All-Star campaign in 2022 with the M's and will probably only have a part-time role in Minnesota, at best.
