Yennier Cano Recovering From Forearm Tightness

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano (forearm) battled right forearm tightness but was available to pitch last night. The 30-year-old has not pitched since September 11, and this minor injury could have been the primary reason. However, fantasy managers should expect the elite reliever to make his next appearance sometime this week. The right-hander has once again operated as the primary set-up man in Baltimore this summer and has held a strong 2.78 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. Under the hood, he boasts a 5.5% barrel rate and a 65.1% ground-ball rate, which are among the best marks in the sport. Fantasy managers in holds leagues should slot Cano back in their lineup down the stretch, as Cano should return to his eighth-inning role very soon.

Yennier Cano Notches Third Save

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano was called upon to get out of a jam during Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The O's were up 8-3 but a walk and two errors loaded up the bases for Philly in the ninth inning. After that, O's manager Brandon Hyde decided to go with Cano to get the final out of the game. The right-hander needed only four pitches as he struck out the only batter he faced. He earned himself his third save of the season, but remains behind Craig Kimbrel in a set-up role.

Yennier Cano Tagged With Loss

Baltimore Orioles reliever Yennier Cano took the loss in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners. The 30-year-old entered the game in the eighth with the game tied at 2-2 but allowed a leadoff single and then a double that plated one run, then was lifted from the game after recording the first out. Cionel Perez gave up a double that allowed Cano's runner to score and the O's would be down 4-2, unable to complete a comeback after that. Cano has been mostly solid, posting a 2.95 ERA while recording 10 holds and two saves on the season, although the 1.36 WHIP could use some improving and he's blown two saves.

Yennier Cano Trending Up, Notches Second Save

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano notched his second save of the season in Friday's 4-2 win over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks, throwing a scoreless ninth inning on one hit with a strikeout. The O's are searching for answers when it comes to a closer right now; veteran stopper Craig Kimbrel threw in the seventh inning on Friday as he works his way through his recent struggles. Gabriel Moreno laced a leadoff double to right in the ninth, but Cano got Ketel Marte to ground out to end the game. The 30-year-old Cano was an All-Star in 2023 and sports a strong 1.89 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 18:6 K:BB across 19 innings out of Baltimore's bullpen in 2024, and he appears to have a leg up on Kimbrel right now when it comes to receiving save opportunities. Rostered in just one-third of Yahoo leagues as of Friday night, Cano is well worth a speculative add to see how this all plays out.

Yennier Cano Notches First Save Of The Season

Baltimore Orioles reliever Yennier Cano allowed a walk while striking out one over 2/3 innings in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Craig Kimbrel entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. Kimbrel was pulled from the save situation after he allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter in one-third of an inning. Cano replaced Kimbrel and retired two of the three batters he faced to notch his first save of the season. Kimbrel has been dealing with a back tightness and has blown back-to-back saves. The Orioles could turn to Cano for saves while Kimbrel is struggling. Cano owns a 2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts over 17 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers searching for saves should add Cano in all league formats.

Yennier Cano Earns One-Out Save Monday

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano earned his seventh save of the season in Monday's 8-7 win over the Astros. Cano came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one with two outs and the tying run on third, ending the game with a strikeout. The 29-year-old has pitched well this season and has filled in as closer while Felix Bautista (elbow) attempts to recover from a partial UCL tear in his throwing elbow. Cano should be rostered in at least all roto leagues for the final few weeks of the season if Bautista is not able to return.

Yennier Cano Earns Sixth Save Of Season Monday

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano earned his sixth save of the season in Monday's 6-3 win over the Angels. Cano came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by three and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with no strikeouts. It was the 29-year-old's second save since star closer Felix Bautista (elbow) went on the injured list at the end of August. Cano has been excellent in his own right, compiling a 1.65 ERA and a 7.99 K/9 rate on the season. While Bautista's return remains without a timetable, Cano should be rostered in all leagues at this time given his new role.

Yennier Cano Collects Save No. 5

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Yennier Cano pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies. Baltimore's closer Felix Bautista (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a UCL injury. Cano got the first crack at the Orioles' first save opportunity. He entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. The 29-year-old retired all three batters he faced to earn his fifth save of the season. Cano has converted 5-of-6 save opportunities with a 1.60 ERA, 0.97 WHIP<, and a 67:10 K: BB across 62 innings in 2023. Fantasy managers searching for saves should add Cano in all league formats, as he will be Baltimore's primary closer while Bautista is sidelined.

Yennier Cano Blows Fifth Save Of Season Tuesday

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano blew his fifth save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies. Cano came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one. He got the first out on a groundout, allowed a single, got the second out on a strikeout, allowed an RBI double to tie the game, and allowed back-to-back singles to end the game. Felix Bautista, the team's closer has pitched very frequently since the All-Star break, so he was not available to close this one out. Despite the blown saves, Cano has pitched very well this season with a 1.82 ERA, four saves, and 24 holds. As great as he is, his current role only lends itself to fantasy value in saves + holds leagues.

Yennier Cano Picks Up Fourth Save

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Yennier Cano held on for his fourth save of the season on Thursday in a 3-1 victory over the New York Yankees. Cano allowed a run on a hit and a walk, but managed to escape with the save. The righty was called upon because usual closer Felix Bautista was unavailable for this one after pitching the two days prior to this one. That being said, Cano has been trusted in save situations multiple times now and should continue to pick up the occasional save. He carries a 0.68 ERA and 0.45 WHIP with 29 strikeouts in 26 IP to go along with 10 holds and four saves. He is the premier non-closer in the MLB right now and is a must-roster player in saves plus holds leagues, and should probably be rostered in most roto leagues as well.
