Mason Plumlee News
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee will shift into the starting five ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Clippers are going to need Plumlee to step up with Ivica Zubac (calf) sidelined for at least the next four weeks. Plumlee will get the starting nod on Tuesday, while Daniel Theis operates as the primary backup center. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Theis gets a few starts depending on the matchup. Both players could have streaming appeal depending on the matchup, but aren't must-have fantasy options.
Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue says center Mason Plumlee (knee) did a "slow run" on the court recently but is still a ways away from practicing 5-on-5 in his recovery. Plumlee had to be carried off the Madison Square Garden court on Nov. 8 and was later diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his left knee. Due out for roughly another month, Plumlee is in line to be re-evaluated in the next week or two. In a muted reserve role off L.A.'s bench, the versatile 33-year-old big man was not relevant in fantasy hoops by averaging 5.0 points on 63.2% field-goal shooting and 5.5 rebounds in 17.0 minutes over six games. Ivica Zubac is locked in as L.A.'s preferred traditional center, but his minutes can fluctuate depending on matchup. After being a regular member of the DNP-CD club with the Indiana Pacers, Daniel Theis has gotten comfortable in his new digs as a consistent part of the team's second unit since linking up with the Clippers on Nov. 17.
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee (knee) has suffered a left MCL sprain, sources have told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The big guy was injured Monday against the Knicks and had to be carried off the court. He has left the team's road trip to undergo further evaluation in Los Angeles, meaning Plumlee is out for at least the next two games, starting with Wednesday's matchup against Brooklyn. Plumlee's injury leaves the Clippers without a proper backup for starting center Ivica Zubac, although Brooklyn uses a lot of smaller lineups, and his absence will be more missed in the next game against Dallas. P.J. Tucker should get extra minutes off the bench with Plumlee out, but he's never been a great fantasy producer.
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee (knee) won't return to Monday's game against the New York Knicks. This doesn't come as a surprise after Plumlee needed to be carried off the court and into the locker room. The team is calling the injury a sprained left knee, which means Plumlee could miss some time from this issue. Ivica Zubac figures to play heavy minutes with the Clippers thin at the center spot. Possibly, the Clippers decide to go small-ball with Moussa Diabate and P.J. Tucker. Regardless, Zubac is likely to benefit the most with the loss of Plumlee.
