Derek Anderson News
Buffalo Bills quarterback Derek Anderson announced his retirement from football on Thursday. Mostly a backup in his career, the 35-year-old was initially taken with a sixth-round pick in 2005 by the Ravens. He spent four years in Cleveland to begin his year, one in Arizona, seven with the Panthers and finished up 2018 with Buffalo. Anderson had 60 career touchdowns and 64 interceptions while posting a 54.3 percent completion rate on 1,674 attempts in the NFL.
Buffalo Bills tight end Charles Clay (hamstring) and quarterback Derek Anderson (concussion) were both limited in practice on Thursday. Clay hasn't played since Nov. 4 but appears to be on track for a return against the Dolphins in Week 13. Clay has been a non-factor in real life and in fantasy all year, though, so he should remain on waiver wires everywhere. With rookie quarterback Josh Allen back and healthy, Anderson is purely QB depth in Buffalo.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Derek Anderson (concussion) and tight end Charles Clay (hamstring) have been ruled out for Week 12 against the Jaguars. Anderson was limited in practice all week, so he's clearly making progress. However, he'll merely be an insurance policy under center with rookie Josh Allen back in action. Matt Barkley will be Allen's backup on Sunday. Clay hasn't played since Nov. 4 and has 19 catches for 169 yards and no touchdowns on the season. Leave him to the waiver wire. Wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud was also a healthy scratch.
