Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi ran the ball six times on Thursday for a total of 23 yards. His longest gain on the ground was a 10-yard run. He added one catch for 16 yards as well. Ajayi is unlikely to play much in the preseason, and the Eagles may even limit his snaps during the season. Still, he offers the upside to be worth a fairly early draft pick.

There is a chance that the Philadelphia Eagles try to get their money's worth from running back Jay Ajayi in 2018 and give him a higher workload than he had last season. Ajayi has just one year left on his rookie deal and could be playing somewhere else in 2019. The former Dolphin was much more productive in Philly last year, rushing for 5.8 yards per carry compared to just 3.4 yards per carry with Miami. Corey Clement and Darren Sproles will figure into the load as well, but Ajayi could be a little underrated if he sees a bigger workload this year.

Philadelphia Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley heavily implied that Jay Ajayi would be the workhorse back in the Eagles backfield this season. "I'm pretty sure that Jay is excited about being able to go out there and dominate and being able to be that guy," Staley said. "Just him being focused, coming in, knowing he's the guy, knowing he's the guy that's going to step up there and just put everything on his back and ride with him." The Eagles mixed LeGarrette Blount, Ajayi, and Corey Clement last season. Blount is gone, but Clement is back and Darren Sproles will be returning from an ACL injury, so despite Staley's words, it would still seem like the backfield might be a little crowded. Still, it seems Ajayi is definitely the one to own in most formats heading into 2018.
